Me as maid of honour at my best friends wedding and probably my very biggest I've ever been.
  8. @@LipstickLady Considering you have those shiney little 'stickers' classing you as a 'VIP' and 'Host' I think you are quite the...hmmm for lack of a better word bitch. I'm not great with words but 'nyteacher125' has put it just as I wanted to. This isn't just a physical battle it's a mental one. And getting my head around this is the biggest hurdle. Maybe you walked into surgery and came out a changed woman and have managed to do everything 'just as the doctor ordered' but guess what...not everyone is the same as you! I've spent a lifetime getting shit from people just because of my size, I didn't expect to come to a forum like this to get shit for something else. As I stated before quite openly I agree it was stupid to test my surgery, I wasn't going to rush off and start eating massive meals, and since getting 'advice' from here I haven't since. But I will stand up and say the blunt words aren't neccesary to get a point across. And my feelings aren't hurt in the slightest I was more thinking of the less confident people out there maybe skirting the forums and not confident to get involved and ask questions and how they may feel always reading the snarky comments from people like you.
  9. AussieGirl81 I completely agree with everyone's advice and I'm not disputing that. But i'm noticing not just on this post but on other people's that are seeking advice or support that the comments they receive have a 'holier than thou' tone to them. I myself have commented on a similar post encouraging the person to not test their sleeve after I got some advice from people on here but I always explain how 'I understand it seems like we're ready to eat solids (using this as an example) sooner than we're meant to but...' or go in with advice from my own experience. But there seems to be a lot of blunt and frankly quite patronising replies from a lot of people on this site and I'm finding it not as supportive as I once thought it might be.

    Feeling Judged

Firstly tell her to go f*%k herself. Unless this is affecting your work (and I don't mean with regards to the time you are taking off) then it has nothing to do with her. You can eat a tub of ice cream in front of her if you want. That's your decision to make! She doesn't know if you then go to the gym for 5 hours after work. She is seeing a small snippet of your day and judging you on it which is bullsh*t. She is 100000% jealous and is being defensive because she is bigger than you and probably feels like because you feel moved to making extreme steps towards losing weight and improving your health then it looks bad on her because she isn't. That of course isn't the case everyone's life/body is their own to do with as they please but I bet you that is what she is feeling like deep down. There is no other logic for her behaviour. And I highly doubt also that anyone else except her think like this. I am early on it my weight loss journey and I am fully prepared for the comments, potential loss of 'friends' etc. But so far everyone around me has been wonderfully supportive. But if and when this does happen I'm not taking any of it because like you said no one knows what it's like to be you and have struggled in the way that you personally have. My surgeon said something that really resonated with me which was that Doctors/Researchers are finding so many more reasons now why people struggle to lose weight or even gain weight so easily. It's no longer a simple case of just eat less and exercise more, things like your DNA and Genes come into play, chemical reactions, hormones so many things that people that are naturally slim DO NOT understand why us 'fat people' don't just do XYZ to lose weight. IT'S NOT AS SIMPLE AS THAT!
  11. I'm noticing a common thread here which is fine, however it would be nice if people gave advice in a more sensitive and empathetic way. This surgery follows 29 years of eating how I liked, I consider myself to be an educated person but let's not all try and pretend like we're all saints here. I do my best 98% of the time but there are times I struggle and it would be nice to come here and feel supported not talked to like i'm 'insane' because I ate a bit of cheese. You can give advice and educate someone without sounding like you're talking to an idiot. Because I'm not, i'm trying to cope with a very big change just like everyone else here.
  12. I have this too, I'm a few days shy of being 3 weeks so should still be on liquids but I have the odd 'soft food' but I've had this feeling with both liquid and soft food. I think it's trapped air, because for me after a little while the air sort of moves and then the food goes down slightly. Winding can sometimes help, I often ask my Mum to wind me like a baby with hard pats on the middle of my back. Otherwise walking around helps because it gets the air moving. It's so disheartening though cause I have come to terms with only ever being able to have a few bites of food but always been in pain when you eat is just awful. Some days it makes me just want to not bother eating but of course this isn't the answer.

    12 days post op...

i'm the same, 6 days post-op I tried some cheese and potato then felt bad so left a thread on here and everyone reminded me of the dangers. I definitely want solid food now but everyone reminded me there are consequences that may happen and i've come so far I don't want to ruin it. I made 2 batches of homemade soups as tins were getting boring and the new tastes made me feel much better about just having liquids
  14. I cooked for my family 6 days post op and found it fine but what I made sure I did was sit down and eat my soup with them whilst they ate their meal. It distracted me from the fact I wasn't having the same as well as up until then I had been 'eating' when I needed to which wasn't coinciding with their meals so it didn't really feel like I was missing anything by joining them. Before this point I couldn't have cooked though as certain cooking smells were making me feel nauseous.
  15. Ok that's scared me back to reality. I guess I hadn't planned on moving onto solid or puree food but you're right even testing is silly!

    Cleanliness after surgery

I don't know if it's the surgery is done in the same way in the US as here in the UK, but for a Gastric Sleeve the procedure is done via Keyhole Surgery so wounds are fairly minimal. With all the medication I was on and the lack of food intake post op I didn't go to the toilet for like 3 or 4 days afterwards anyway and didn't even feel like I was constipated. Within this time your wounds aren't as sore so allows for movement. You also may be told you can't shower however the wounds again are on your stomach so I found from my belly button downwards I could still wash in the shower (or a bidet of course) so doing that may be an option
