dietition says if I dont follow diet..........
jwgr replied to reenie11's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have a doctor that said 1 week of a high protein diet, and only for lunch, a protein drink. I can't stand the protein drinks so I just did another high protein lunch. Anyone out there just getting the lap band, I say just choose a doctor with a pre opt diet that you can live with because some of them are very LONG and very HARD!!!! I ate some french fries once that week and was scared to death that when I woke up I would not have a band.( I have come to realize that alot of people think that way.) My opinion to you is that you need to do your VERY BEST and you will be fine. -

Are We ready for a Black President?
jwgr replied to TheWatcher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I am with everyone else on our future president, Don't care if he is a she or if they are black, white, purple or green. I just want a president that can make change in many different areas. I also am with everyone else on thinking alot of the prejidice is from older people. I have 2 daughters and one dated a white guy that was horrible and I hated him and I would choke him today if I had a chance and my other daughter dates any race and she came home one day and told me she met a guy that she really liked and that he was black and what did I think of that and I said I don't care what color he is as long as they are a good person and they make you happy. The only thing that I don't understand about the African Americans and maybe The Watcher can help me understand this. Why is it when a jury conficts a black person or a black person goes to jail, there is a protest and it was because they were black? This is something that is vey hard for me to understand. -

Tricare - Does it require a supervised 6 mo diet plan?
jwgr replied to Long2BFree's topic in Insurance & Financing
It sounds like you are at the beginning. You may want to check into different doctors. I did have to do a 6 month diet, but was not told what kind. I lost 2 or 3 lbs one month and then gained 2 or 3 lbs. the next month, it was not pretty. I don't know about your ins. (I have Blue Cross in Texas with the school district.)I would guess that they want you to try and diet again but has to realize that we've been there done that. Just a thought.................. -

My first negative reaction
jwgr replied to moonshadow2468's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I chose not to tell anyone but my husband and children. I don't know if it was that I was scared of failure or I just didn't want to be judged by thin people saying "Why don't you just push your plate away" I too work with a girl that is always saying something about someone that has lost weight (no matter how they lost it) that they look bad and their face is sunk in, I just tell her that they just look different and your not used to the way they look and if you had never met them before you would say that they looked HOT! -
For me the first week was hell. I had nausea until I stopped taking the pain medicine.

Did you cheat on pre-op liquid diet
jwgr replied to crystalcml's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I'm just venting about having so many addictions, Food, Alcohol, and cigarettes. One addition at a time. I got the lap band on 2-18-2008 and lost 20 lbs. I'm so glad about that, could not have done it without the band and I will be successful needing to loss about 100 more. When I get to my sweet spot I will do my best to quit alcohol, then cigarettes. I quit smoking for about 5 years and raising teenagers I started again(stupid I know.)Just venting on how strong additions are and doing my best beating them one day at time. -
I go to the Hurst office for everthing. I feel the same way as you do. He told me that whatever it takes he will make sure that I lose weight, even between the first few fills. It does not surprise me that he would help you with your fills. Did he do the fills or did AIGB?

I feel the same. He is the best... Where are you from in Texas? I'm from a small town southwest of Fort Worth, Glen Rose it's a very tourist town by Granbury. I travel about a hour to see him but it is so worth it.

Quit Smoking and gaining!!!
jwgr replied to JerseyGirl2u's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is such a good web site to go to for so many things and nobody knows you on a everyday basis!!!! The sad thing about me is that I have several additions, Food, cigarettes, alcohol. I had my band Feb. 18,2008 and lost 20 lbs., I am so excited about that (could not have done that without the band.) I'm doing okay with that I know it will be slow for awhile, but very excited that I will have sucess, as for alcohol and cigs., I have to stop or slow down on alcohol first because when you drink your cravings for cigs are very high. I quit cig for about 5 years and raising teanagers I started again.(dumb I know, just a fact that additions never go away.) I am going to stop alcohol next when I get my sweet spot and then cig after that. I am one that has to do one thing at a time. Thanks for listening to all of my venting. -
Destiny 79.... I was also banded by Dr. Marsden on Feb.18,2008.
