Band to Sleeve - Gaining Weight Back

my nurse practitioner had me give up all liquid protein shakes, yogurt, hummus, etc. and only eat foods like chicken breast and hamburger patties -- anything that takes more effort to eat. i also am making sure not to drink 30 minutes before and after eating. i find that this has helped my portion control, and i'm back to losing again -- slow but steady.
  2. i wasn't given a pre-op diet. i used the myfitnesspal app to monitor my calories, fat, and Protein. my max calorie goal was 900 and 40g of protein, keeping fat to a minimum. i made sure to drink 64 oz of Water a day. i did this for 6 weeks before surgery and lost 15 lb. i'm not having any issues drinking my water goal (just started week 4).

    Hi! New here!

I had a very similar situation, but had my band drained for both pregnancies (banded since 2003). I had band slippage and 2 hiatal hernias (first diagnosed Nov 2015/repaired Dec 2015, and second April 2016/repaired May 17 w/band removal & sleeve conversion). I'm currently at day 11 with my sleeve. Loving it! The first few days were a bit rough -- painful to drink, then the constant feeling of hunger. Yesterday (day 10), I was able to have yogurt and my first full feeling! Do know there is hope, and you are not alone! I read in one of the forums here that patients with band conversions have a more difficult time. My NP confirmed this yesterday at my first post-op appointment. So do keep this in mind if you're tempted to stray from better food choices.
  4. I had a band to sleeve revision May 17, following a second hiatal hernia (first hernia repair Dec. 2015). When I consume liquids, I can feel the liquids hit my stomach, which results in pain that is nearly intolerable, even with pain meds. Has anyone else experienced this? And, if so, how long did it last? History: Band installed May 2003 - gained 25 lb Diagnosed port leak June 2005 Port replacement 2005 - lost 160 lb Band drained for pregnancy - gained 90 lb Port replacement 2010 - lost 60 lb Band drained for pregnancy - gained 50 lb Sept 2012 - Feb 2015 - lost 50 lb Band drained Sept 2015 due to massive reflux Dec 2015 diagnosed with hiatal hernia & repaired same month Band filled March 2016 Bad hiccup April 2016 - confirmed hiatal hernia
