  1. I know what you mean. Until the past week, I would go out to eat with my husband or family, order a meal. Eat a little and I would stop eating and get quiet and my husband would say" are you stuck? You look like you are, your eyes are watering". Then Id rush to the restroom and bring up alot of mucus mostly and then Id feel better and Id actually try to eat the rest. What was I thinking??? Not anymore...Chew, Chew,, chew and stop as soon as you feel full or the slightest bit uncomfortable and pack the rest to go home. Then I have some more for my next meal.

  2. I understand how you feel. Part of the reason that I decided to get a lap band was so that I wouldn't have to be on a diet my entire life. But I guess I will have to, but it will be a lifestyle after awhile. I think we can exchange bad habits for good habits...after all habits are learned, good or bad, so Ill just learn new better ones. :) I guess, like they say, anything worth while takes work. Hang in there.

  3. My band is similar to yours. I am tight in the mornings so I have black coffee and then a Protein Shake. After around 10:30 it loosens a bit. lunch can be difficult, I just remind to take small bites and chew very well. And stop when the band tells me to. But I eat a very little amount at lunch and then Im hungry again an hour later. Then dinner is alot easier but still not like I don't have a band at all. I still have to be careful, but I can eat the easiest at that time of day.

  4. Well, we have to live life along the way too. So enjoy vacation just make good choices as much as you can..I have thought lately that if I want a goodie that isn't on my eating plan, it has to be the best quality and fresh. No more stale donuts just cuz they are there.

I do know that I will never be super large like some folks I see around. And that was really scaring me before I got my band.

So Im gonna go at it again this week and see if I can't do better.

  5. I am starting over again as well. I was banded in April 2008 and somehow got sidetracked and didn't follow the eating program. I thought that Id lose weight just because of not being able to eat as much food as before.. WRONG...So, I reread all my info given to me at the time of my surgery and am restarting. Last week I followed the eating program, drank my liquids, had Protein Shakes for breakfast....and didn't lose a thing.....Sooo, Im not giving up and maybe I need to get stricter even with myself.

Best of luck to you and keep us posted on your upcoming success!!

  6. I was banded in April 2008 and just lost track over time. I have no good reason, but I never really followed the "diet" post op. I felt that restricting my portions would cause the weight loss I was hoping for....NOT....So now Im back and getting it together. Im trying to go low carb, which is working so far. Im feeling good mentally and physically.. So I restarted Sat. July 14...maybe now I'll get the weight loss Ive wanted my whole life.

I have to remember Protein first and 60 gms protein per day and 64 oz. Water per day.

  7. I was told to go to a salad sized plate and then to a saucer size for your meals. I did use a small bowl for some greek yogurt the other day and was very satisfied with the amount. And you know, I was proud of myself for that.

  8. I think I didn't realize I had to be on a diet for the rest of my life. I even told my doc that was one of the reasons I wanted to have this surgery, to not be on a perpetual diet. I guess i thought that by restricting food amounts I would lose weight. Well, obviously, I was wrong.

I do think that I need an adjustment, maybe a slight unfill. I called today but it is a huge inconvenience to have this done. My doc is only in one afternoon a week (which is a day I can't miss work) and I have to have a consultation first and then another appointment for the adjustment. So 2 appointments. Is this the same for others? Are 2 appointments necessary to have an adjustment made?

  9. Ive thought about doing WW. They are starting it at work soon. But I don't know if Id be able to eat the point amount I need to. I can only eat about 1 cup at a time. I think Id be able to eat much less than what Id be required to do. Have you had fills?? Im getting on track the past week or so with help from my friends on this site. Lots of Protein and Water. So far the weight is moving off again...

  10. The same thing happened to me. I was banded in April 08, had 2 fills and was fine until Oct 09 when while I was on vacation I suddenly could not keep any food down at all. Liquids were a challenge but I managed to get Water in but very slowly. I went to my doc as soon as I got home and he did a slight "unfill" and was OK. Strange though how that happened out of the blue??

  11. This week Ive been having a Protein Shake for Breakfast and lunch with lots of Water and iced tea in between. Also eating Protein for dinner. Im down about 3 lbs this week. And no problems with hunger. I was trying to eat fish yesterday though and got stuck. I excused myself to go the the restroom because I thought it was coming up, but after I walked for a few seconds, the feeling passed and I was fine. Does anyone have that happen? Sit-stuck, walk around and it passes?

  12. I will start journaling and Im going to increase my Water and Protein. My doc and his crew are very supportive while you're going through the process but give me that "could care less" feeling afterwards. I called today to ask about a support group, got a date but no other encouragement. I also asked about a newsletter, (that I gave my email for 2 times previously and never got) they took my email again. We'll see if I get anything. Im going to give another bariatric center a call and see if I can get any fresh help. Thanks for your imput.

  13. Ive been banded for about 2 years now and haven't had any significant weight loss. The most weight Ive lost was during the liquid diet pre-op. I must say though that Im not choosing "diet food". I choose food that won't get stuck.

But I am not able to eat much at all. I have a very difficult time in the mornings and can hardly tolerate any food until the afternoon. I was under the impression that I would lose weight by not eating as much as previously, but that hasn't proven true. I was hoping to not have to be on a "diet" for the rest of my life and control my weight by eating small portions.

Has anyone else had this happen?? I am open to suggestions.
