Is Anyone Else Out There Struggling?

I know what you mean. Until the past week, I would go out to eat with my husband or family, order a meal. Eat a little and I would stop eating and get quiet and my husband would say" are you stuck? You look like you are, your eyes are watering". Then Id rush to the restroom and bring up alot of mucus mostly and then Id feel better and Id actually try to eat the rest. What was I thinking??? Not anymore...Chew, Chew,, chew and stop as soon as you feel full or the slightest bit uncomfortable and pack the rest to go home. Then I have some more for my next meal.

Best Breakfast Idea - What Works For You?

I heard about adding hershey's cocoa powder and stevia to plain greek yogurt then freezing it. Has anybody tried anything like this?

Is Anyone Else Out There Struggling?

I understand how you feel. Part of the reason that I decided to get a lap band was so that I wouldn't have to be on a diet my entire life. But I guess I will have to, but it will be a lifestyle after awhile. I think we can exchange bad habits for good habits...after all habits are learned, good or bad, so Ill just learn new better ones. I guess, like they say, anything worth while takes work. Hang in there.

Is Anyone Else Out There Struggling?

I have not lost weight since I got my lapband in 2008. Mostly because I didn't follow the eating plan. I figured that just restricting food would result in weight loss, but Noooo! So Im going to get serious now, follow the plan and HOPE the weight comes off. I did have this surgery for a reason I need to use it.

I can"t eat breakfast, I can eat a house for dinner

My band is similar to yours. I am tight in the mornings so I have black coffee and then a protein shake. After around 10:30 it loosens a bit. Lunch can be difficult, I just remind to take small bites and chew very well. And stop when the band tells me to. But I eat a very little amount at lunch and then Im hungry again an hour later. Then dinner is alot easier but still not like I don't have a band at all. I still have to be careful, but I can eat the easiest at that time of day.
  10. Well, we have to live life along the way too. So enjoy vacation just make good choices as much as you can..I have thought lately that if I want a goodie that isn't on my eating plan, it has to be the best quality and fresh. No more stale donuts just cuz they are there. I do know that I will never be super large like some folks I see around. And that was really scaring me before I got my band. So Im gonna go at it again this week and see if I can't do better.
  11. I am starting over again as well. I was banded in April 2008 and somehow got sidetracked and didn't follow the eating program. I thought that Id lose weight just because of not being able to eat as much food as before.. WRONG...So, I reread all my info given to me at the time of my surgery and am restarting. Last week I followed the eating program, drank my liquids, had protein shakes for breakfast....and didn't lose a thing.....Sooo, Im not giving up and maybe I need to get stricter even with myself. Best of luck to you and keep us posted on your upcoming success!!
  12. Well, last week I followed my eating program very well. I drank my liquids, had some nice salads, had protein shakes for breakfast and I havent lost a thing.....Idk...Im going to keep trying though because I swear my work clothes fit a little better this week. Could be psychological, but either way i felt better about myself.
  13. I was banded in April 2008 and just lost track over time. I have no good reason, but I never really followed the "diet" post op. I felt that restricting my portions would cause the weight loss I was hoping for....NOT....So now Im back and getting it together. Im trying to go low carb, which is working so far. Im feeling good mentally and physically.. So I restarted Sat. July 14...maybe now I'll get the weight loss Ive wanted my whole life. I have to remember protein first and 60 gms protein per day and 64 oz. water per day.

I have a protein shake because my band is tight in the mornings. It loosens as the day goes on.

    Meals For 1

radarluv, I take home my leftovers and eat them for meals the rest of the day. They are usually enough to feed you for the entire day and then some.

    Portion Size

I was told to go to a salad sized plate and then to a saucer size for your meals. I did use a small bowl for some greek yogurt the other day and was very satisfied with the amount. And you know, I was proud of myself for that.

  18. Ive been banded for about 2 years now and haven't had any significant weight loss. The most weight Ive lost was during the liquid diet pre-op. I must say though that Im not choosing "diet food". I choose food that won't get stuck. But I am not able to eat much at all. I have a very difficult time in the mornings and can hardly tolerate any food until the afternoon. I was under the impression that I would lose weight by not eating as much as previously, but that hasn't proven true. I was hoping to not have to be on a "diet" for the rest of my life and control my weight by eating small portions. Has anyone else had this happen?? I am open to suggestions.
  19. Have you been on WW since being banded? We're starting a WW at work program soon that Im thinking about doing, but I don't know if I could eat enough?
  20. I think I didn't realize I had to be on a diet for the rest of my life. I even told my doc that was one of the reasons I wanted to have this surgery, to not be on a perpetual diet. I guess i thought that by restricting food amounts I would lose weight. Well, obviously, I was wrong. I do think that I need an adjustment, maybe a slight unfill. I called today but it is a huge inconvenience to have this done. My doc is only in one afternoon a week (which is a day I can't miss work) and I have to have a consultation first and then another appointment for the adjustment. So 2 appointments. Is this the same for others? Are 2 appointments necessary to have an adjustment made?
  21. Ive thought about doing WW. They are starting it at work soon. But I don't know if Id be able to eat the point amount I need to. I can only eat about 1 cup at a time. I think Id be able to eat much less than what Id be required to do. Have you had fills?? Im getting on track the past week or so with help from my friends on this site. Lots of protein and water. So far the weight is moving off again...
  22. Sometimes when I feel "stuck" if I get up and walk a little the food goes through and the "stuck" feeling goes away. I was wondering if anyone else has this happen?
  23. Im doing the protein shakes to get myself back on track. Eventually I'll start eating some food at lunch but I needed a kick start. I am going to contact another bariatric group about getting involved in aftercare since Im not getting support from my docs program. I only had one required appointment after surgery a 6-8 week appointment for a fill and I was done. I was on my own after that.

    Stuck Episode..OMG!!

I get stuck every now and then and it is VERY painful for me. If Im eating with my family, they can tell by looking at my face that Im stuck. Sometimes if I just get up and walk around a little it relieves it and the food goes through.

Left Sx with an empty band

Mine was empty after surgery. I couldn't get my first fill for 6-8 weeks after surgery and then it was only a small fill. He was cautious to not get the band too tight.
