I haven't given this any thought before reading your question. I am anxious to hear also from others. -
Question about protein shakes?
mae replied to nesser081982's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had ATkins Advantage Protein shake today. I always by anything Choc. It does need to be cold, real cold. I am going to try the ice and the ice blender. Let me know if you hear aboutt freezing the shake and eating it like ice cream. It probably does have to melt all the way to swallow it. -
Good Luck Alice I am so happy for you. I can't wait until May 8th for mine. I know you will do great.

Hi Jemo97, Welcome Make sure you go to 2008 bandsters and then to May 2008 and join us there. My surgery is May 8th in Kalamazoo, MI
-
I have been away for awhile again. My mom is in Hospice in Ill and I go every couple weeks to see her from MI. I have been keeping up with the forum though. Welcome to all who joined after me. I am one of the first for MAY's forum. I could hardly wait to tell everyone here. However, I mentioned in an early post that only one friend knows and no family members at all. Yes, my husband is very supportive and my one son and his wife. I have yet to tell my only other son and his wife. I thought I would wait until the surgery gets close to MAYBE tell them. They live one hour from here and my surgery is Thurs., May 8th, two days before Mother's Day and I know they will be wanting to plan something with us. I am not so sure I could hide a liquid diet on Mother's Day. I will not tell my three sisters at all. They are all thin and two of them run marathons. They never understood my weight problem and were mean about it. So why tell them anything. I am glad I am back and am so looking forward to April 24th when I start my two pre-weeks of my liquid diet. It will be the start of getting my closer to the surgery.

Poll: What shall we call ourselves?
mae replied to Bizzy Bee's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I have been on vacation for awhile and just getting back to the boards. I like all the names for May. It will be fun to give us a REAL name. I did have a meeting with my dietitian this week. I start on a liquid diet on April 24th with 1200 cal and 60g of Protein a day for 7 days and then only 860 cal and 60g of protein for the 7 days just before my surgery on May 8th. I have to purchase IMPACT online to have 2 a day the last 7 days with one other kind of choice. I am working on MIND OVER MATTER. It is going to be very challenging for me. -
Well Southern Missy, I do believe you got it. Marvelous MAY minimizers I am not real familiar with this forum. Who decides on the final title of our May surgery month? I will go along with any title. I am so trying to start a bit with more Water every day. I know it will be struggle for me to be on a liquid diet pre-op and post-op. I just have to pray alot and ask for help to get thru those weeks. I have to keep my eye on the long-term goal. food isn't everything. My husband is my biggest and best supporter. He knows how much I want this and have been working on this for a year now with the doctor appts. etc. I do not plan on telling friends. So far only one girlfriend knows, I probably should tell at least three more of my gooooooood friends. They will feel hurt if they are left out. I just don't want a lot of questions afterwards. I want MAY to come soon.

I like the Magnificant Mays as well. I would like to stick with having M's in the title. I have all my appts. made now. The UGI and the PST testing is on April 30th and the pre-surgical with my general md is on April 22 and with my surgeon on April 30th. I have my last appt. with my dietitian on April 21st. I was told that I may either be on a liquid diet for one or two weeks depending on my BMI. I am glad to now see more future May surgeries. Here are some more adjectives to form more May names. Mascot, minimal, marvelous, memorable, meticulous. I am not good with making up names but I see some of you are. May 8th, here I come.

I am so happy to have other May banders with me. I am anxious for this to happen and can't wait. Crystal, wow same May 8th surgery. We will have alot to talk about. I will think of a cool name for May also. "May Miracles" sounds good so far.

I had no idea either what this was. I am awaiting a May date for my banding and will keep all your PB remarks in my head. It sounds awful but my future goal is to take the weight off and I will do what it takes. Thank you for all your input. This is the best site on Lap-Band and I now come here everyday.

mae replied to mschaffer66's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have been getting monthly appts with my doctor since last April, 07 to comply with the 12 month visits requirement from BCBS PPO of Michigan. Yesterday, I found out that now only 6 month visits are required. I am ready for a May surgery anyways. -

Thanks to all of you for your information on the concerns I have to deal with soon. I am the primary babysitter of Lily and will have to be relived of my duties for a couple months. She will be at least 15 to 20 lbs. by time of my surgery. I have to do this 1st for myself but will hate to not be able to be with her because of the lifting issue. Thanks all again -

mae replied to Teresa-jade's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am also anticipating a surgery in March/April. Have been getting ready for 12 months also. I have the same questions as you about recovery and going back to work in an office setting. My main concern is babysitting for my granddaughter who is now weighing 12 lbs and growing. -
:tongue:you all are so great! I am going to get my surgery next month, I am ready after reading your posts.
