    What to expect post op?

I am eight days post op and by day four I could hardly tell I had surgery. It could be because I had the single incision procedure. I can get liquids down just fine so I have been very lucky. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    Quitting smoking

I smoked for thirty plus years and quit cold turkey. The first week was horrible but I made it. I got to the point that this surgery was more important to me AND I'm a worrier and I did not want to freaked out as am being wheeled into surgery about the complications from smoking. Good luck! ♥Any Austin tx sleevers ♥

I'm from Austin and I am 5 days post-op. Dr Ganta was my surgeon. I haven't had any issues at all. I can drink my protein/water no problem. Stomach incision pain is all but gone and have lost 18 lbs (including 1 week pre-opt diet) Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    June 27 - FREAKING OUT

I'm the 28th of June, and your not alone.......Excited to get it over and done and my emotions are all over the place too..I'm very cranky from being on day 5 of my liquid diet, but I've lost 12 lbs....Cleaning house, etc. I'm more worried about taking my first sip after surgery than the surgery itself.

"This was the best thing I ever did"

Thank you all for your posts!! It really eased some of my anxieties. I have no idea why I'm worried about the pain after surgery. I've gone through natural child birth and Gallbladder surgery and survived. To be honest, by biggest fear is taking my first sip after surgery. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
  7. I met with my Surgeon regarding having the sleeve surgery and he informed me I have the choice between the six incision procedure vs. the single incision. He explained the recovery time is less and the pain. Seems like a no brainier decision, except it bumps the base price up $3k more. Anyone out there had the single incision sleeve surgery? If so can you, relay your experience. Thank you! Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    One incision vs. Six?

@@rubia72 They go through your belly button so not sure how big the incision is but I know there won't be any scar. They refer to it as the scarless incision. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    Gaining before surgery

It's very normal. I'm self pay also. The combination of nerves and quitting smoking cold turkey has made me gain a few lbs. Surgery date 6/28. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    One incision vs. Six?

My BMI is 36 so hopefully I won't have to worry about loose skin. The reason I'm looking at the single incision is because my husband works overseas and is only going to be home for four days of my recovery. I'm self-pay and I'm already into this $$ so if my recovery is sooner I'm willing to pay the extra. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    One incision vs. Six?

@@jessicajas37 Thank you! I can't wait to hear how your surgery goes. I'm not sure on about having the gallbladder removed after this surgery. Mine was removed in 2008 bc I had gallstones. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    One incision vs. Six?

It's done through the belly button, so no scars at all, which is good bc I already have four from my gallbladder surgery. @@jessicajas37 Please let me know how it goes. My surgery date is eight days after yours. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

  21. Starting this process I originally went with Dr. Patel in San Antonio. I did all my testing went to the seminar. Long story short I felt like I was just a number. His office staff is rude and trying to ask for help or get questions answered is like pulling teeth. Gut instinct, I decided to switch surgeons and go with Dr. Sashidar Ganta here in Austin. Has anyone had the sleeve surgery with Dr. Ganta?

    Sleep study?

I just had mine a week ago. Very easy test. I had the option of having it done in my home vs. going to a hotel, which I was more comfortable with being in my own environment. The reason for the study is they want to make sure you don't stop breathing during surgery. Hope this helps. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
  23. I will be having my surgery in San Antonio, 1 1/2 hr car ride away. Worried about the long car ride home after surgery. Any helpful tips to make it comfortable as possible? Should we stop every 20 minutes for me to get out and walk? Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

    I'm freeking out

I had the same restless nerves about the surgery until I had the Motility Test. If I can make it through that test the surgery is going to be a walk in the park. Good luck!! Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App
