Hi folks, are there any post-op musicians here (winds or strings)? I'm most likely having surgery in November or December, and I'm wondering on how long I can expect to be out of commission. Since I play winds, I'm particularly concerned about soreness in the diaphragm, the surgery's effect on stamina in the immediate post-op phase, and to a lesser extent, simply sitting up in a chair for long periods of time. I would rather let my contractors know that I'm not available for Xmas gigs than to suffer through two-hour performances, or worse, being unable to play at all. Any thoughts from a fellow professional or any amateurs would be appreciated. "When all is said and done, usually more has been said than done. "

Any sleeved musicians?
Fredbear replied to Fredbear's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks John, playing a wind instrument is much more taxing than simply breathing, but your comment does indeed give an idea of the effort that might be necessary. "When all is said and done, usually more has been said than done. " -
Vaping Nicotine Free before Surgery

Paté is basically a finely minced meat (often liver), usually for the purpose of being soft and "spreadable". It's basically like canned cat food. "When all is said and done, usually more has been said than done. " -
One month done supervised diet
Fredbear replied to Jenjen2016's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm doing my supervised diet through my PCP; she's in the same network as my surgeon. This is an insurance requirement, not a medical one. She's more than happy to see me once a month for a 10 minute visit and ask the same questions each time, if that's what it takes to make this surgery happen. Any men doing this besides me.? Lol
Fredbear replied to Tommy s socorro nm's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have seen a few men at my support groups, but it is probably a 1:3 ratio (men to women) ...and the women do most of the yapping. "When all is said and done, usually more has been said than done. " -
In the considering surgery stage - so many questions and fears in my head!

Not sure why a Canadian would bother with traveling to Mexico and paying for the surgery... all the Canadians I know who have had the surgery had it in Canada, for free. -
I'm freaking HUNGRYYYY! Eeerrrrgggg!
Fredbear replied to SiSSi829's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Tryptophan is nowhere near as effective as it's played up to be. The reason people feel sleepy after a Thanksgiving turkey dinner has nothing to do with Tryptophan and everything to do with eating a full day's worth of calories (or more, for the dedicated fatties) in a single sitting. Just another symptom of the spread of reason- and fact-resistant humans. Dumbass "folk wisdom" and vaccine-deniers are making the country stupid(-er). Perhaps we can create dummy forums and lure them to those instead? Like a "VSG and Essential Oils" forum? "VSG, One Weird Trick to lose weight faster," "VSG and GMOs," "VSG and Chemtrails". Are sleeved folks able to eat popcorn at any point?
Fredbear replied to kadie777's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Popcorn tends to be a "mindless" snack, so it's off my list as dangerous. Actually, just about every snack that comes in a bag fits that description, really... chips, pretzels, popcorn, crackers... all bad ideas for people with food issues. Question: How do you stop eating the foods that make you feel good?
Fredbear replied to JuliusJ's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

Anyone vlogging/blogging?
Fredbear replied to gemigirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am keeping a (private) journal of the experience. At my psych evaluation I complained about finding very little information for men online and he suggested writing a book on that. Who knows? No interest in blogging/videos... that's straight up attention whoring these days. "When all is said and done, usually more has been said than done. " -
How long do you plan to take off work after surgery?
Fredbear replied to Amber M.'s topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Depends on what my date actually turns out to be. If it's December, I'll take the rest of the year off. "When all is said and done, usually more has been said than done. " -
Sorry, just discovered this forum and responding to some of the topics. Not intending to be a necro :-) (see, I told Alex there were too many forums!)

For the same reason Tim Tebow does his prayer schtick; it's "conspicuous piety," which is actually specifically spoken against in their book of lies. But they conveniently forget that (when it suits them), just like all the other bits they conveniently forget when it goes against what they want to do.

Dealing with Stress from Rabid Religionists
Fredbear replied to VSGAnn2014's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
"I completely disagree, but I've found that it's impossible to reason with someone completely bereft of intelligence or mental stability." -
People of faith are insecure narcissists and the fact that there are people who haven't bought the lie hook, line, and sinker causes them mental anguish and cognitive dissonance. They then disregard all the teachings they supposed believe in and attack those who dare to have minds of their own, because the insecurity makes them realize their beliefs are ridiculous. As to the thread topic... when someone tells me that "they'll pray for me," my standard response is, "Thanks! I'll name one of my shits after you." When they protest, just tell them that it's only fair that you match their complete lack of effort or action with one of your own.

The best way to piss off fundamentalists is simply to refer to them as Pharisees. It's accurate, and for them, infuriating.
