tpasun started following Did anyone NOT have a miserable recovery?, New pain, nausea, Hunger from hell and and 5 others

Hi all! About 1 year post op, HW 396, CW 282. For the last few weeks I've been having some nausea that's lasting all day or even several days. After eating anything I feel some pressure a bit above my belly button, but the nausea and feeling of hunger doesn't change. The discomfort with eating has been getting worse so today I decided to stick with bland liquid stuff, chicken broth with some very tender chicken. I was starting to feel a little better. Then I had a couple small bites of the chicken, after doing well with broth, nausea got worse and the pain came back. Am also burping and having much more gas than usual. A few days ago I had some SUPER severe pain in the same spot but shooting to my back. Went to the ER and heart stuff looks ok. Dr Ilan did my procedure. Any ideas what might be going on? Starting to get a little worried.

How would acid reducers help with the frequent feeling of hunger? I'm about 10 months out and have been getting hungry a lot for the last few months

I'm 7 months out and can't handle anything carbonated I miss beer! I first had some wine about 3 months out, and defknetly noticed a lower tolerance but now I can have 2 glasses of wine, or 1 fairly strong cocktail and catch a buzz.

It's rare but possible to wake up, the anesthesiologist should be quick to knock you back out of it happens. The drugs used for this can be tricky, not enough and the patient wakes,or too much and... well that's bad too lol bottom line... don't worry! I recall nothing of mine, but did have the mildest "itch" in my throat but it was gone by the next morning.

When did you start feeling more energy? I'm almost 6 weeks out, have lost about 50 including pre op diet. I feel pretty good, but about the same as I did before surgery. I keep hearing that I'll feel so much better and I'll have so much more energy buy I'm just not seeing it. Doing really well with getting Protein Fluid and Vitamins, just still tired a lot, which was a big problem for me for a long time, I blame the sleep apnea. Maybe when I e lost enough that that clears up I'll feel it? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Any ER nurses go back to work 2 weeks after Sleeve?
tpasun replied to onehappychick's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I went back at two weeks after my sleeve and had full clearance. I felt great, and even working over nights I was ok doing full time work. I work with an amazing team of people who all know I had surgery, so I've been in triage a lot, and everyone is super helpful and won't let me do any heavy lifting. I've not been having issues eating or getting Fluid or Protein, but one day I was a bit dehydrated, my heart rate was way high after walking just a little, was able to get rehydrated and back to work quick Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Good points, I'm still on puréed, I do notice when I try something a little heavier/thicker I don't get as hungry as quick. And I am also supposed to be eating about 6 times a day, no way I could get my Protein in if I didn't, and if I wasn't getting hungry i know I'd forget to eat! Lol glad to know this isn't weird or unusual Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I'm about 3 weeks post op and I notice that I feel hunger more frequently. Not ravenous starvation, but hungry. I'll eat something from my plan, 3oz or so, and am satisfied, but find myself feeling hungry again after a few hours. I'm following my post op diet to the letter, and have been doing really well getting enough Protein and Fluid in, but I just wonder if it's normal to feel hunger more frequently than I did before. I e tried nectar unflavored, mixed it with some broth and didn't notice a change in flavor, but there was a little later of foam on the top that was a little odd. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Did anyone NOT have a miserable recovery?
tpasun replied to ella37's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm only about 2 weeks out, but it's been great so far. The first night was uncomfortable and the gas pain was pretty bad, but I was up walking that night and able to get it moving which helped tremendously. I was so scared of pain post op, but was absolutely amazed at how good I felt the next day. I never took any narcotic pain meds, after the gas pain my belly feels a bit sore like I did a bunch of ab workout but that's gone now too. Haven't had much trouble getting in enough Fluid or Protein either. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Dr Illan was fantastic. I'm down about 20 lbs since starting the pre op diet, only 180 more to go! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Atkins Lift protein water

I have only tried the orange and thought it tasted a bit like a crystal light type drink, with a slight powdery after taste. Not fantastic, but likens it well enough to keep it around. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Any ER nurses go back to work 2 weeks after Sleeve?
tpasun replied to onehappychick's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I work in a busy ER and today am one week post op. I've had surgeons tell me it would be ok to go back to full duty at 2 weeks. I'm feeling pretty good but certainly don't think I'm ready for work yet. Even tho I work with amazing people that know I have a sleeve and will help with the heavy lifting. Anyone go to Mexico solo?
tpasun replied to fancypants67's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I just came home, dr Illan did my sleeve Thursday and everyone there was fantastic. Met other patients that kept me plenty of company, so I didn't mind traveling alone. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
