I too said "I can do it on my own" & I lost weight but it just came back. I did Jenny Craig 3 times with having to loose the weight + 20 lbs. I'm sure that had paid for a home for Jenny. Then I did Nutrisystem, lost the weight & ended up with high blood pressure & high cholesterol. I'll be 1 year on June 23rd, had the sleeve done & I can finally control. Most people don't understand my emotional makeup. Remember, food will never be disappointed in you & I'm learning that it's not food will make me happy until you swallow.

Pre-op advice please!

Now, control wear will be the farther thing from your mind. Yes, wear loose clothing & you'll be glad you did. You'll do fine. Now, I had my sleeve 1 yr in June. I weigh myself every day. If I go up & we are talking 0.4 lbs, I get on the stick & take it off. One thing I would recommend is a scale that keeps it in memory. It judges your weight yesterday & today. I know I really didn't believe my primary Dr when he told me that the sleeve was a tool & he absolutely true. -

BCBS of Alabama and terrible PCP experience
marylu replied to SummerShadow's topic in Insurance & Financing
My doctor, who I have been seeing for over 12 yrs told that there was nothing he could refer me too. Now I was referred to the Mayo Clinic-Jacksonville , where they recommended for me to have a sleep study done. When the Dr walked in, he told me that I really needed to do something about my weight. I almost started crying. Someone finally understood my struggle I had been dealing with. My own husband doesn't even understand. Why don't you take a different approach. Because of my weight, I had been stopped breathing 45 times in a hour & I feel like he understood & referred me to the bariatric clinic & he saved my life. Keep the faith & if you haven't had a sleep study done, have one done. All that weight on me was crushing my breathing & that's why I was referred to the bariatric clinic & my insurance covered the surgery. -

Right back at you. I'm still surprised that when I pass the mirror in the bathroom, I can't figured out where my behind has gone. I just have to work on myself. I have been overweight my whole life so when I see myself, I just know who this person is. Sent from my SM-T520 using BariatricPal mobile app

I never wanted to have my picture taken. We all know the answer to that. My surgery was in 6/2016 & I have reached my goal. I thought I would be happy but no difference in my feeling bout myself. I'm on Wellbutrin but I don't think it's any different. Maybe I need to talk to my Dr. Sent from my XT1585 using the BariatricPal App

Prep for Sleeve Beginning
marylu replied to SenetriaStartingOver's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I noticed that you put in your name as Starting Over. Well, I had my sleeve on June 23rd & have reached my goal weight. My husband asked me to come down to have my pic taken for his family. I said OK but hated to have my pic taken since I can't remember. I saw the pic. Well, I don't have a behind anymore & didn't have to suck my gut in. So amazing that I don't mind anymore. marylu replied to Suga Renique Reborn's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I'm 69, will have my sleeve rebirth on June 24th & I turn 70 on July 1st. Some family members think I am crazy to have this done at my age but no one understands my struggle my whole life. Don't be stressed about your rescheduling, it'll be hear before you know it. My time took 1 1/2 yrs. but now it's almost here. Try to trust your doctor & you'll do amazing. Prayers to you. Does it always take 6 months to get a date?
marylu replied to Tina4heath4ever's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Tina, I'm having my surgery on June 24th @ mayo in jacksonville. Because I had a lot of things wrong with me, like sleep apnea, etc.. It's taken me over a year. They want to make sure that you know everything & are ready for your new re-birth. Sent from my SM-T520 using the BariatricPal App -

I am up there in age, having my sleeve on June 24th @ the Mayo. Everybody has an opinion & it's mostly negative & I'm not asking for their advice. I've struggled all my life. I live outside of Hilton Head. Sent from my SM-G900V using the BariatricPal App
