So I fell off the wagon
finding_onederland replied to LynnM.'s topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@LynnM. I am right there with you. I am not even two years out of surgery and have gained 20lbs from my lowest weight. It is very scary, yet I have not been able to get my head back in the game. I know it is a matter of getting back to basics. Protein, Exercise, Water. Easier said than done though, right? -

How hard is it to cook this properly without letting it burn and stink up the whole office? I am pretty sure every bag now says "do NOT use the popcorn button". I think this is grounds for termination. Vent over. I feel better.

now THAT is a true leader! Popcorn and Fish in the microwave should be prohibited.

I am 4 weeks post - op and usually eat between 800 and 900 a day.

Short hair or Long Hair?
finding_onederland posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Am I better off having longer or shorter hair when the hair loss starts? Ordinarily I wear my hair pretty short. My hair now is in an inbetween phase and it's driving me nuts, and now is the time when I would go and cut it all off. But since I will likely be dealing with hair thinning in the coming months I am wondering if I should wait. -

What did your first week on purees look like?
finding_onederland replied to gemigirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The first thing I ate was a scrambled egg. My first week I did greek yogurts, finely chopped chicken with light mayo, homemade black Beans, Ricotta bake, egg salad, baked sweet potato. My sleeve has tolerated everything very well. (I am eating very small portions, no more than 1-2 oz at a time) -

3 weeks post op diet
finding_onederland replied to JonteRaynal's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hey @@JonteRaynal ! I was sleeved on 9/6 - so far I have tried scrambled eggs (with a little cheese), black Beans, refried beans, Teriyaki chicken meatballs (very soft, but I still ground it up), soft cooked sweet potato, homemade chicken brunswick stew and ricotta bake, and of course low sugar yogurts. My sleeve has tolerated everything very well so far. If you google "world according to eggface puree" there are lots of good tips there. -
Noisy co workers

I love this! I had intended to tell people when asked that it was surgery to take care of an ongoing issue - but I was kind of stunned that someone asked me outright. -
Weight loss stalls
finding_onederland replied to joei0005's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You're going to have people tell you to Embrace the stall - in short, keep doing what you are doing, meet or exceed your Protein, Water and exercise goals, stay of the scale and you will work through the stall. This is a great post about it : http://www.bariatricpal.com/topic/351046-embrace-the-stall/ That being said - I understand how frustrating it can be! (and have complained about it myself) I was three weeks post op yesterday and am down 10lbs. I had hoped (expected) more, but I know that I have been doing what I am supposed to be doing, and I am just trying to trust the process. -
Noisy co workers
finding_onederland replied to TanishaP's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved on 9/6. I simply told my co-workers and boss that I was having "surgery". Since I have been back to work, I have only had one co-worker ask me flat out what I went in for. I told her I had weight loss surgery, but that I would appreciate it if she would keep that to herself. She told me I looked good, and that was that. I had not planned on telling anyone, but did not want to lie either. -
@@rydersmama nice to know I am not the only one!!!

Definitely not skinny yet (35 pounds down) but I noticed this bump on my sternum (had never felt it before) - called the nurse cause I was freaking out a bit (I had cancer 5 years ago). She says "Let me guess, it's kinda soft, but also kinda hard? It's your xiphoid" (I am sure she was thinking - you idiot!) Looking forward to the being cold thing - I am always hot and I hate it!!!

@@Christinamo7 I will be trying that recipe as soon as I get off of the puree stage - in 3 weeks :sob:

Contemplating a turkey pureed burger now - can't think of any way it'd be edible. I go to mushys next week. Hmm. I'm wondering - maybe some ground turkey with a tish of thousand island dressing? could be reminiscent of a big mac?? LOL I might give it a try!
-
I wonder how a pureed burger would be??

Nothing better than 5 Guys Burgers and fries!!! :-) except in-n-out burgers. Yum. Nothing better than 5 Guys Burgers and fries!!! :-)I went to Five Guys once. Bit into a fry that had a hair wrapped around it -- a hair' that clearly went through the fryer wrapped and permanently attached to that fry. Couldn't even bite the burger after that. Nope. GAH!!!

Phase 2 diet: puréed food
finding_onederland replied to tmedi7's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I referred to "the world according to eggface" blog - lots of good ideas there. I am on day 5 of pureed foods myself. I have been having a scrambled cheese eggs every morning. I have also been having chicken salad (where I minced the chicken with my magic bullet blender) black Beans (cooked for a really long time), egg salad, and eggface's ricotta bake. This weekend I think I am going to make a batch of brunswick stew. Greek yogurts too. I have to be on pureed foods for 5 weeks, so I am thinking I am going to be getting really creative.
