When to tell Boss?
finding_onederland replied to finding_onederland's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My boss is pretty flexible, I am an accountant, and my workload is VERY manageable except at month end. Ideally I would like to be able to be out for a week or so and then work from home for another week or so. Depending on my progress. -

@@LipstickLady I liked your list - except for the hating cats part, But eh, to each their own! -
Don't forget those who grouse about incorrect usage, grammar or vocabulary and then commit the very sin about which they grouse. You can find it for yourselves. I shan't name names, lest I bring the wrath of @@4MRB4PHOTO upon my head: "How about people who must always one up someone else instead of letting them enjoy their moment." It can also be such fun to see them swing from their own nooses. Let's not overdo the martinet routine, though. There really are honest typos. Duly noted.

I can't stand this either. It would be awesome to have a junker car and insurance with no deductible so that I could ram them (just once - to get it out of my system )

And your and you're !!

Couldn't it be that she is just looking at every aspect of WLS in order to help her make her decision and is considering the impact that the loose skin might have on her and her partner? I think it is a legitimate concern, and one that I have thought about also. Obviously, health is a big factor, and yes, I want to be healthier, but I also want to look better & feel good in my own skin (loose, or otherwise).

Is your surgery a secret?
finding_onederland replied to Tara1992's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So far, I have told my husband, and three good friends (one of which just recently had WLS and inspired me to consider it) I plan on telling people (if asked) that I am having surgery for an ongoing health issue. -

Why does the food that tastes so good have to be bad for you? Why can't pizza be a diet food??

Have you tried WalMart? They usually have good options that won't break the bank. probably cost less than someone shipping stuff to you. Just a thought. -

Told my Mother I was having surgery and her repsonse is.........
finding_onederland replied to reachbree's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That is really a shame - but it's also the reason I won't be telling my mom about my surgery either. It's funny, my mom used to tell me the same thing - "just write down what you eat" & I remember asking her - ok, then what?!? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
I feel your pain!!! We have a grocery list app installed on EVERY family member's phone - all they have to do is update the list and it will get purchased (within reason). I am sure you can guess who updates the list.

First consultation
finding_onederland replied to newbie1021's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@newbie1021 LOL, Did you really mean finish your oreos, or was that a typo? Seems that there are many variations of a first consultation appointment, but my first appointment went like this: An hour and a half "presentation" on weight loss surgery (risks of obesity, surgery, overview of the process, etc.) with the nutritionist. A 15 minute one on one with the Nutritionist who explained the phases of the "diets" pre and post surgery and instructed me to keep a food log and to start changing my eating habits. 10 minutes with the surgeon himself who basically looked at my chart and said that I would be a good candidate for either surgery. Then I met with his nurse who scheduled my next appointment and put in a referral for a psychologist (a requirement of my surgeon's, and from what I gather, a requirement for most surgeons). This was May 12th. My next appointment is June 9.
