  1. Happy 34th Birthday olgi330!

  2. Happy 33rd Birthday olgi330!

  3. I was banded in 2008 and I'm 40pounds lighter with 25 to go. I still have soooo much trouble with staying on track, I read your sucess with weight loss in such a short time and it motivates me..thank you. I really need to get out of my rut already. its good that you start your day off with a Fluid and your supplements...I think that sets the tone for the rest of your day... keep up the good work and thanks for sharing Olga
  4. thats the kind of pain I had for fwe eeks after surgery. it was "normal" at the time. Now I get it when I don't eat how i'm supposed to. Warning sign to get myself back on track. I had my band put in in 2008

    Help!

I am in a similar dilema, but I know I'm responsible for the lag in weight loss. I had the lap band put in Feb 2008, lost the first 20 lbs FAST (less than 2 months)....then the other twenty took another year! then just when I start to feel and look good I get pregnant, after baby I was only 5 lbs less than what I was befor I had the lap band put in. I was so discouraged to be starting from square one and two kids to take care of (three if you count my hubby). Now the baby is a year old and i dropped 35 lbs but it has been so ssssllllloooooowwwwww. Sucess comes in small steps when I get my act together to actually watch what I eat and excercise. The lap band helps, but it cant do the work for you (or me). The nutritionist I spoke to befor the surgery told me that the band is around my stomach, not my brain. Its up to me to "band" up my old habits and the unhealthy compulsions. Best of luck...and remeber hips don't lie

    Anyone gaining A LOT?

I am now five pounds away from gaining all the 45 lbs I lost thanks to my lovely lapband. Am I sad? yes. Destroyed?nope. I am still in MUCH MUCH better shape with this second pregnancy than I was with the first. I acknowledge I have really enjoyed myself with food. It was more nostalgic emotional eating than anything else. But IT WILL come to an end no more than 2 months after delivery I will fill the band to restrict me once again and get back on that wagon. I looked TOO GOOD and felt great before getting pregnant. I want that back! think positive, and remeber how much better skinny hanky panky is when compared to the big ol' butt version
  7. I have a "secret band" too. Only my husband, parents and siblings know. I have had many oops moments where I excuse myself or just stop eating and its ok. Really I think more of what "people may think" is more in my head that in reality. I lost 40 lbs, I am expected to watch my intake since I need to stil loose more. For now, I just have to be preggo and keep eye on the weight gain of my big ol' butt, but more importantly, the baby's weight gain as per the ultrasounds has been totally on target! I must admit, I give in to ice cream MUCH more since finding out about the pregnancy  More work for me after the baby is born to loose the extra pounds
  8. Same visiting rules apply in the hospital where I work as a nurse. Trust me it's for the best. I am 22 weeks preggo with my second baby girl. My first daughter was born premmie at 33 wks. I was 50 lbs heavier at my emergency midnigt c-section than I am now so I'm praying for a nicer delivery expereince this time..Thank God my daughter is smart and as perfect as a 3 year old can be  So far so good with this pregnancy.
  9. I'm 20 weeks pregnant and had not had any saline taken out yet. Baby is growing great, very active little girl in there, I and I am able to take my calories and Vitamins. I just have to eat the usual smaller meals more frequently due to the normal increase in hunger that comes with pregnancy. As baby gets bigger I will deflate the band a bit since the organs will be moved around by the really big uterus.

    PREGNANT and devastated

Please don't think that your life is over because a life has begun in your womb. Its a crisis situation but a termination can lead to emotional scars that may never heal. You do have options. Please listen to the women that have gone through a similar situation. An also listen to mine. My husband had been laid off from his job and working odd jobs and waiting tables to keep us afloat. I had been fired from my own job 3 months prior and still was unable to find anothe job. The lease was up on the nice comfortable apartment we could no longer afford so we sold our many things moved in to my sisters basement with our 8 year old son and 3 year old daughter until we got back on out feet. I always had nice things, lived well, worked hard and assumed I would always be ok. This was so humiliating for me. I found myself pregnant due to failed Birth control and could not accept this pregnancy. My husband is "more catholic" than I and tried talking me out of abortion but ultimately said that if the baby would be such a burden for me and make me so miserable then he would support whatever I decide. I scheduled the abortion, and after the registration and elderly man with blue eyes that seemed to glow walked up to me and said, "please don't have your daughter killed". I freaked out and ran out of the clinic. Next day I woke up with so much resolve to end the pregnancy I went in to the same clinic as soon as it opened but was not allowed to abort without an appointment. I made the next available appointment which was 2 days later then went to my sister-in-law's house for lunch and a self-pity party. My niece showed up and & told her what I was going through and she begged me to keep the baby. She "lovingly" said that I am very spoiled, I've had my way, my plans, and I did everything under the sun to avoid getting pregnant & got pregnant anyway in the worst situation of my life. She believed God needed to show me who was in control and she assured me that everything will work out for the best if I decide with my heart, not my gut. I didn't show up for the abortion because of the guilt I felt after that harsh conversation, cried myself to sleep for many nights the following months and I despised my niece for what she said and for "making" me feel this way. Towards the end of my pregnancy my husband found work with insurance, my DAUGHTER was born perfectly healthy (the old man with blue eyes had said I had a girl). my little Andrea and her older sister are inseperable. Her big brother adores her, and I am in a nice house, I am comfortable, happy and thank God for ALL my children; my life is one that I could not have imagined years ago. I see now that the abortion would have destroyed my marriage since my husband really did want the child and my two older children would have been denied the spunk and unconditional love that my "surprise" child has brought in to our lives. Things really do happen for a reason. If you really can't raise your baby there are so many childless couples that would love to love your child. Please think with your heart and not you gut.

    H1N1 vaccine and pregnancy

I feel the same way, I am 20 weeks pregnant and got both vaccines, my 3 year old daughter got the seasonal flu and I am having some trouble finding a doc or a clinic that will give her the pediatric version of H1N1. But I'll keep looking.

    H1N1 vaccine and pregnancy

It is not hype that ALL pregnant women ARE compromised in health when the growing baby reduces the lungs vital capacity, the heart is greatly enlarged because of the at least 40% increase in blood volume necessary to sustain another little human inside a woman. Most vaccines do not have the high levels of mercury now but very small trace amounts of thimerisol preservative, and if you look around there are some seasonal flu shots available that are manufactured without it as well. Young women are more likely to die from swine flu than their middle aged or elderly male or female counterparts. Add pregnancy to the equation and you have a very compromised situation. Pregnant women are at THE HIGHEST RISK catergory for H1N1 & we should get the vaccine as soon as it can be found. I am a nurse but also a naturalist at heart and was VERY reluctant to get any vaccine during pregnancy but after doing homework, following up with the CDC website, speaking with my high risk OB, regular OB, 2 infectious disease docs that are VERY experienced, my PMD, and seeing the quick deteriorating effects of H1N1 infection of a young seemingly healthy (nonpregnant) woman in the ICU were I work (and I also expose myself to many viruses and germs) it was really a no brainer for me. I got the seasonal flu and the H1N1 vaccines one week apart. I was told I could get them at the same time but opted not to. It is your right to choose, but for your sake and your family's, make an educated decision.

    so many questions

I'm 5'2'' I've lost 45 lbs (still have 15 to go) w/the lap-band surgery and the sciatica has completely DISAPPEARED. No kidding. I still have some neck issues due to 2 disk herniations but nothing like before. I think you should do whatever you need to do to get the weight off. Your spine is the support column of your body and all the weight takes it's toll. Talk and think things over with a few doctors (not just one) your family, do research and ask lots questions. there is a risk w/surgery but also with obesity. I'm glad I got banded, I feel much more alive and can chase after my toddler, I only wish I had gotten it sooner.
  15. I should pick up on them again...when I do drink one in morning mixed with flaxseed meal it holds off the hunger monster much longer, and I tend to eat less during the rest of the day... the shakes are also what I turn to when the weight in a plateu. My therapist recommends I go back to back one a day...she wants me to start again tomorow actually...
