    The point is kind of moot anyway because you need Protein first. Banana will just take up room for nothing. I am 2 and a half months out almost, and I still only eat protein first. That's me though. Good things come to good people.

    Question about weigh ins

    I don't let the scales rule me. If I weigh every day, or every week even, I would drive myself nuts and be too obsessed. I know this, so I never bothered to change the batteries on my scale. I TRY not to make it only about weight and actual pounds. I test my sugar (diabetes) since that was the main reason I finally decided to have the sleeve. The weight loss and shrinking is a benefit! Good luck and don't stress too much!

  6. Read 'The Obesity Code' . Someone on here suggested it and I am reading it now. Trust me, I don't believe everything I read, or hear, but I use my own logic to decipher whether or not something makes sense. Being obese (30+ bmi) doesn't mean we are lazy, or have no will power, it all has to do with our makeup genetically and environment. Not saying that some of us AREN'T lazy (me at times) or that we don't overeat (I did that A LOT in my life before the sleeve) it's just another perspective of why some people are obese or have problems dropping weight, etc. It's not that hard to drop the weight on a fad or otherwise diet, the problem is keeping it off. I always said I would never get weight loss surgery because the problem is mental, not physical. I too thought it was the "easy way out". Lo and behold, here I am 2 months out from the sleeve. I did it mostly for my diabetes control but I definitely need to lose weight too, and diet and exercise just didn't work long term for me. I was 277 day of surgery. A month later I was 248. I don't weigh at home, only at doctor, so I don't know how much more I lost, but I do know that I feel MUCH better and that my sugar is under control. The only thing is, I wish I would have done this at your age instead of thinking I could do it on my own. I have a ton of journals I started whenever I started a "new plan". I would do well for a while then I would gain back plus. Oh, and it's not easy for sure. I did a lot of mental preparation. That was hard. Good luck! Good things come to good people.

    Blood sugar levels

    Same boat. In fact, I had the sleeve surgery mainly to control my sugar. I was disappointed the first week because it was still over 200 but I learned from previous ways of eating, that it takes a few weeks to lower. Don't get discouraged! It WILL come down. I was on metformin, Victoza, and glipizide before surgery. I took myself off the victoza and glipizide but still take metformin. My sugars are always good and I will find out my a1c in August. Good things come to good people.

    Hawaiin Vacation

    Have you been to Hawaii?? The costs are high but I honestly didn't check. I think I did great, other than getting my 100 grams of Protein. I'm sure I lost, although don't weigh until I go to the doctor so I won't know for sure until August. My fear really is that I'm not getting enough calories. I know I NEED calories for energy and I know if I don't get enough, my body will go into starvation mode and store any calories I do take in. I don't want that. My goal is to cure my diabetes- or at least make it so I don't have to worry about it so much. Losing weight is an added benefit, so I don't use the scale to define my success. I'm back now and when I checked my sugar, it was 94 so I'm good. I am back to drinking my protein so I feel more cozy. Thanks for advice and comments. I am about 6 sizes lighter than when I had surgery, May 5, 2016. Good things come to good people.
  9. So I'm not even two months out and I had the opportunity to go to Hawaii for the first time. I was nervous about what I would eat since I was getting in my 80-100+ grams of Protein daily, and didn't want to lug my Protein drinks in my suitcase. I have been here for five days and I KNOW I haven't been getting enough protein or calories, but I have been walking more than usual and sticking to my program, other than the amount of protein I need. Anybody have experience with how badly this will affect me on my journey? I plan on getting right back to the 80-100+ grams of protein as soon as I get back home the day after tomorrow. I brought some "meat sticks" (jerky) and some nuts, and I still only get chicken or fish when I eat out, but can't eat too much at one time (maybe the recommended 4 ounces). I have been doing well and although I only weigh at the doctor, I have gone down about four-6 sizes since my surgery. I feel good so I hope I'm not ruining my health by not getting the recommended protein. Can someone advise? (I won't get defensive for those of you who tell it like it is. I've seen those threads, lol) Good things come to good people.

    That's so awesome!!! I would love to be 187!! Hell, I'd like to be below 200! I know I will be eventually, but I'm trying to be patient. I'm so excited for you!! Good things come to good people.
  11. Everyone has a slightly different experience. I didn't even see my surgeon until the day of. Expect the worst and you will be surprised how easy it is. Walk, walk, walk, sip, sip, sip. In a few weeks, you go back to semi solid food and you just can't eat like before. Good things come to good people.

    I manage a restaurant. Lol. It's cool though, I don't succumb to the smells and food. Good things come to good people.

    Smells and cravings

    Props to ladies/gentlemen who have to cook for others. Thank goodness, most of my friends, including my boyfriend, don't have the eating disorder I had and I don't have kids. I don't crave things, and am very surprised how I don't crave "bad" food like I did before surgery. I'm glad my insurance made me prepare almost a year for the sleeve because the nutrition classes helped a lot and I got to practice eating better. Good luck and I hope the cravings pass. I think they are just head cravings. I am only almost two months out and still get so full after a few bites of Protein. I sometimes don't even feel like eating even though I know I have to. Good things come to good people.
