    Eating

In week four post op and my 3oz chix gets cold before I can finish it. I think it depends on the viscosity of the food. I can eat a non fat Greek yogurt (4oz) in about 20 minutes but I still gotta go slow. Speed eating hurts. Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App

What Is Your Brilliant Substitute for a Craving?

I'm just a baby sleever. I'm learning a lot from these posts. I do love fresh organic red pepper with hummus. One of my goto meals. Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App
  3. I had no weeks pre-op liquid. In fact, at our preop appointment, a week prior, the PA told us to eat a NORMAL meal the night before. The only requirement was that we stop eating and drinking everything by 10pm. Other than that, I ate almost normally up until the night before and I was 277 at 5'5". So I don't get it either. Our surgeons, Atkinson and Soon, are known for the amount of WLS they do it here in Vegas and have great reputations so I dunno. I'm glad I didn't have to do the before one coz it's bad enough, worth it, but bad enough during the post op. At least my stomach isn't the size it was so it didn't bother me to not eat after the sleeve. I'm not sure I would have been able to do 2 or 4 weeks before. I'm almost 4 weeks out now and it's going real well. Stick to what your team tells you but I don't understand it either. Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App
  4. Getting on the scales a lot can be dangerous mentally. I avoid it and go by how I feel. I only weigh at doctor appointments. Will find out my loss on June 9 (that will be 6 weeks postop). Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App
  5. That bites! You're doing so well and you are taking in the amount of protein they tell us to take in! And I am sedentary compared to you and a woman! She doesn't sound very supportive. Keep doing what you are doing and since you don't HAVE to go to her, find another nutritionist. I hope mine doesn't do that to me on my next visit. Sheeesh. 6. I tell whomever about the surgery. I didn't tell anyone until I was sure I was gonna do it because I didn't want to jinx myself but now who cares? If they ask, I tell. It's MY journey, not theirs, and it was a last resort since every time I lost weight in my life, I would eventually gain it back. I did it mostly for my diabetes (was sick of worrying so much about my sugars because of how I ate-kind of like Mico, only worse because I don't do as much exercise as he does). I could binge on some days up to a little over 10,000 calories at times!! Overweight all of my life. Highest weight was 4 pounds away from 300 at only 5'5"!! Always energetic in my younger years and started to get fatigued more easily lately, before the sleeve. I always said I was destined to be fat, so I accepted it pretty well but I just got sick of the diabetes. I am 51 and wish I would have done this sooner but glad I did it anyway. I don't care what people say. Most people who know have been very supportive so that's probably why I say I don't care. Lol. I am a restaurant general manager and my guests are noticing a difference (only 4 weeks out) and I have much more pep in my step, so to speak. Very touched by your story, Mico, and you inspire me to do more exercise and walking. I really need to rebuild muscle. I'm not getting any younger! Just feeling younger energetically. Good luck and keep us posted! Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App
  7. Don't be too hooked on sizes. Vanity sizing is real people. The big clothing corporations know what they are doing and a size 8 jeans, has about 6 different waist sizes (no exaggeration). It all depends on where you buy your clothes. That being said, congratulations to everyone who has dropped these significant amounts of weight. I'm sure you feel so much better. I am only four weeks post sleeve and I already feel so much better. I was 277 day of surgery and a week later at check up, 255.6. I haven't weighed since then because of my own issues and trying not to let the actual weight define me. I will know when I go to my next appointment on June 9th though. My diabetes and bp is already better (still take a few meds until the doctor instructs me not to) but taking less than pre-sleeve. So excited for all of us! Just don't get hung up on size from stores (look up vanity sizing) but do get hung up on health! JS. At least for myself anyway. Rock on brothers and sisters! 8. I don't even care about weight. I wanna feel good all the time and keep my diabetes from reading is ugly head again. I am four weeks post sleeve and already feeling wonderful. Won't know what I'm down in poundage until I have my next appointment on June 9. Congrats to all your successes! Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App
  9. Don't trip potato chip. If your doctor said it's okay, it probably is. As far as losing, you will definitely lose weight although for me, and I'm phat, my health is more of the concern so I don't let the scale define me. Thank God! Everyone loses at a different pace. At my week check up I had dropped 22 pounds. I have NO IDEA what I've dropped since then. (I'm just starting my 4th week postop). I really don't care, I just know I'm going in the right direction. Good luck girl! Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App

    Approved for June 6

It's no biggie but they didn't give me a preop and I'm surprised about that coz I was 277 and 5'5". My surgeon was Dr. Atkinson. Weight loss center. Had my surgery at Desert Inn hospital on the 5th of this month. I followed orders the first two weeks but I don't follow to a t anymore. That's bad. I still get all my Protein in but I had pain popcorn (not supposed to) and I had alcohol one night (not supposed to). Other than that, it's going great. When I first woke up, I immediately regretted it but now I am so glad I did it. I went back to work 3 days after. Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App

    Scratch your incision and stitches

I didn't have stitches, I had the derma glue, but I did the same thing. Just don't pick at it like I did. They healed pretty quickly for me. It should be okay. Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App

OBGYNs reaction to my weight loss..

I freaking ABHOR running into these kind of professionals. How rude. They are probably miserable in their lives and can't stand to spread joy because they are so deep in misery, they don't see it. So sad they are allowed to be in that profession. Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App
  15. Well I guess it's good they give you a preop diet. I didn't have one although I took myself off caffeine before the surgery. We were even told to eat a meal the night before surgery, a normal one, not a buffet. Everything went fine. I wonder why so many people have to do a preop liquid diet. 19. Thanks. I needed that. FYI though, 2 cups only have 12 carbs but they are unnecessary carbs, I get it. Other than that, I don't get any carbs from starch. Veggies have some but I eat more Protein than anything. I'll lay off the popcorn until my nutritionist tells me it's okay in moderation. Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App
  20. Popcorn. I'm week three and I have had popcorn, in small doses, several times. It wasn't a problem before surgery, but now it is becoming one. It's "naked" popped corn, but popcorn nonetheless. Also drinking with my meal. I may just go back to liquid /pureed stage for another few weeks because I am starting to reach my 1000 calories with food and Protein drinks. I need to reset already. I eat slowly and take small bites and chew well, but certain things tend to get "caught" in the process and I even have to slow it down further. I dunno. Trying to follow protocol but it's freaking hard. I will do it though. Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App

  23. Vegas isn't like that, lol. I know people call it "sin city", but it's not as bad as most most small honky think towns I've been to throughout the last 30 years filled with unhealthy, crack - head, tatted up (not that there's anything wrong with tats in good taste, lol) bottom - feeders. I hate that people perceive Vegas like you portrayed it. But oh well, I guess I can't change that. I find it different living here in Vegas. I never see the downtown or strip area unless I have visitors. I also think there are many health conscious people here, not necessarily fake, like California is perceived, but healthy. Maybe I'm just seeing "my little world" in Vegas and I'm delusional. Either way, keep up the good work and let's just thank God we made it through the surgery and are on our way to better health! 3rd week

I just started my third week post op and I feel really good. I get full really easy but I feel like I can eat just about anything. I realize inside I am still healing and I can't feel it, but I had some popcorn (dry popped) last night and it didn't seem to bother me. It only has 6 grams of carbs and 33 calories. It was just something because I wanted a "crunch" and figured it's a healthier option. I am not allowed to have raw veggies yet or I would have had celery. Tonight I'm going to try a little chicken.
