    New to the Sleeve Life

Don't make it only about weight, follow your plan and treat your stomach like it's a newborn. Get your Protein in, even if you don't think you can, find a way. It's easier for me if I drink it. Isopure, or the equivalent, has 40 grams of protein in each bottle. That's half the amount right there! Doesn't taste bad either. I like to dilute it a little with Water coz it's sweetish tasting. But there are zero carbs. The other go to us called Muscle Milk. It's dairy-free. 25 grams of protein, 0 sugar. Good luck and keep us posted! I'm only 5 weeks out. Good things come to good people.

Doing Something for the First Time

I wanna do that too! Haven't been since my early 20's. I was heavy but I was stronger. Good things come to good people.

    First month postop appointment

So much more energy and is fun putting on smaller size (have a range of sizes in my closet), lol. I knew that first week was because I hadn't eaten anything. I figured I would only lose 7-10 pounds more and that's what happened. I'm excited to work out tomorrow. Good things come to good people.
  4. So I had my first month post op today. Down to 248 from 277. I feel great and still get in Proteins first and avoid Pasta , bread and rice. The only "carb" I get is popcorn. Other than veggies and whole foods. I have another appointment on August 11th so I won't know my weight in between. She told me I am released to do whatever I want, swim, work out, lift, and eat whatever, within reason. I love our barriatric team out here. They don't scare us, they are up front, but realistic. Good things come to good people.

So now I have killer gout!

Gina, I assure you, when you are past a few weeks, you will feel better. TRY to get all your Protein in. The first few weeks you are expected to be tired. Good luck. Good things come to good people.

    Down 108 pds

Do tell, sleevegirl2015, what kind if things do you do to lose that much? I was 277 day of surgery and a month out. I find out tomorrow how much I am down. Good things come to good people.

    Is your surgery a secret?

Like Kindle, I don't post it on social media, but if people ask, I don't hide it. No big deal. People are gonna talk anyway. I would rather have the support, and I get it. Good things come to good people.

    Post Your Silly Rant

People who stand on an escalator. It's an escalator people! It's meant to escalate your trip to the next floor. It's to get there faster than if it were only stairs. Sheeesh. If you wanna just stand, take the elevator. Good things come to good people.

Pre opp diet starts june 21

Love your hair. Did you braid it yourself? It looks perfect! Congrats on your journey. I'm only a month out. I go to follow up tomorrow and will know how much I dropped in pounds but I did this for my diabetes mainly even though I was almost 300 lbs at 5'5". Good things come to good people.

Why i cant tolerate food anymore?

Just last night I experienced something like this. I didn't over eat but I gagged and vomited. I was really trying not to but I kept having to and only bile came up. Tmi, I know but I was really surprised coz I've been fine for a month, since the surgery. Then I tried to put something else in my system and voila, did it again. It was horrible so I was afraid to eat today. Thank goodness for muscle milk and Isopure to get my Protein. I just know I need to put more calories in coz I don't want to wreck my metabolism. Grrrrrrrr. Good things come to good people.

Worried about losing weight too quickly

Guess I'm gonna have to complain about rashes and infections. Get my doc to go along with me (that won't happen, he didn't even want me to get the surgery!) I will save my pennies for the skin removal because I WILL need it for sure on my abdomen. And my arms. Good things come to good people.

    Stomach stretching

Kindle what the hell do you know about WLS? 3 1/2 years out and only dropped 115% of your weight and kept it off? You have no right to advise anyone. Who do you think you are? Lol. Just wanted to lighten it up a bit. Thanks for your dedication. Sanju just isn't used to your bluntness, but now he knows. We newbies have to learn and if we ask, it's usually because we want a little justification I guess. Not always, but for me anyway. Good things come to good people.

How long does the pain last?

I remember questioning my decision to have it done right after and for a few days. I'm a month out and I know it was the right thing. The first week was the hardest for me. You'll feel better soon! Good things come to good people.

    Sugar free ice cream?

I've done that with the protein shakes! Lol. Ice cream was just one of my favorites before sleeve and probably was a huge contribution to my diabetes. I don't crave sweets yet and I think it would make me want more. It's an easy "treat" to not get full on but not enough nutrition for me and too much sugar (even sugar alcohols count to me as sugar). Good things come to good people.

    Swifter the kitchen

I think I'm super woman. When people ask me how I'm feeling, I tell them I feel "back to normal". I really do, except that I can't eat a lot anymore. I need to learn to take it easy as well. Good things come to good people.

    Stomach stretching

@@sanjumelts, I am only a month out and I tend to over eat sometimes so that question was good. I was a little taken aback at the first response too, but I know kindle is a good advisor and probably didn't mean for it to sound judgmental or condescending, but anyhoo. I sometimes can feel that I've eaten too much in one sitting, even if it's no bread, Pasta, rice, etc (haven't had any of those things yet) but to the point of where I do feel full. A 6" Flatbread from subway (used to LOVE subway and would get more than one footlong to consume in a short period sometimes) doesn't seem like that much to me. I suppose that's why we are told not to consume bread if we are in the losing stage, coz it has a lot of carbs without as many nutrients. I don't work out yet and I probably could have eaten that sandwich. I would have been really full though I think. A 4oz chicken breast and some veggies would have been about the same, but less filling because of the bread. Who knows? Do what works for you and remember, there's no tone in text so sometimes we perceive one to be rude or hateful when it's really only our own perception. Good things come to good people.
  17. @@Beck90, if I were to be completely honest with myself, I would think I wrote this post, HOWEVER, I pretend I'm not afraid of the 'stall' because I am aware it will come to pass at some time. I am 'Queen of Denial' with certain things, and I admit I want to keep losing. Here's the thing, I was 277 @ 5'5" day of surgery, May 5, 2016, and exactly a week later, on the 12th, I was 255. Since then I haven't weighed and I keep telling myself I don't care about weight, I won't let it define me. I BELIEVE that's how I WANT to think, but deep deep down, my real self really DOES care. I DO care. I refuse to weigh until my check-ups though. My first check-up after the one week out one, is this Thursday, June 9th. I'm telling myself I probably only went to 247. That's my guess (but deep down I am secretly hoping for more, and THAT RIGHT THERE is what gives me a little fear.) I need to make myself BELIEVE that even if I don't lose anymore than the initial pounds, it's okay. (I will die if I didn't lose. In fact, if I didn't lose, I am gonna call this surgery a bust, just like all my other attempts.) Gosh, this post is so bi-polar. Lol. I'm feeling really emotional right now. Sorry for the rant. I will post back how much I lose/gain/don't lose. I won't give up. I'm doing so well with my eating. It's just that, like Beck90 stated, I do well for a while, then something snaps and I turn to food for other reasons. I know this surgery was on my stomach, not my brain, but THAT'S the part I needed surgery on! Since that didn't happen, I am truly trying my darndest to stay on this healthy-fueling path. I haven't hit the gym yet again, but it will come if I stay on this trail of healthy eating. No bad carbs, Protein first, veggies. I mustn't stray. Positive thoughts, positive thoughts. Cel Good things come to good people.

24 Year Old Starting Her Journey

I like Muscle Milk. Not a milk product. Lol. 25 hands of Protein, no sugar. A great go to drink for thirst and protein is Isopure. (Damn, I should be working for them-I advertise, and recommend them for free, lol.) Each bottle has 40 grams of protein, no carbs, and I just sip it over ice all day. Have up faience and soda before surgery, but not that far in advance) and no headache withdrawals. Good luck Good things come to good people.
  19. I don't think it's from Protein coz I get 80-100 grams a day and I don't have that problem. Are you making your shakes out of milk products? Could be lactose intolerant. I burp a lot because my new stomach is so small, but not loud. But I'm not a long timer so I guess it doesn't help you any. Lol. My surgery was May 5th. Good things come to good people.

    Eating disorders and Gastric sleeve

Tía, you remind me of myself. Really. I was a huge binger. Sometimes more than 10k calories in one day. Overweight all my life. Always said I would never get WLS because the problem is not in my stomach, it is in my brain. Lo and behold, I got sick of dealing with my diabetes and went thru the process and classes to get the sleeve. Had it on May 5th and am so glad I did. I will check that book out because I love reading about it. I have always wanted to be a nurtritionist but couldn't be with my weight the way it was. 5'5" highest was 296 (that I know of) 277 day of surgery. I'm doing great now and very glad I had the sleeve. Diabetes is in control and bp down. More energetic, lighter, etc. Good luck! Sent from my SM-N910V using the BariatricPal App
