HE IS SUCH A NICE GUY, AND i AGREE WITH THE BEDSIDE MANNERS, HE MAKES YOU FEEL EVERYTHING IS GOING TO BE OK. eVERYTHING FELL INTO PLACE JUST AS THEY SAID IT WOULD. i NEVER HAD TO WORRY ABOUT A THING. ACTUALLY THE ONLY THING I WORRIED ABOUT WAS WHEN ORDERING FOOD SERVICE IN THE HOTEL AND NOT HAVING ANY MEXICAN MONEY HOW I WAS GOING TO EAT MY LAST MEAL BEFORE BEING BANDED, LOL, TURNS OUT THEY BILL YOUR CREDIT CARD AND TIP IS ALREADY INCLUDED, THEN I COULDN'T FIGURE OUT HOW MUCH I WAS SPENDING, THEN WHEN IT WAS EXPLAINED TO ME THE NEXT DAY I REALIZED I HAD ONLY SPENT 18 DOLLARS ON ROOM SERVICE NOT THE $180 THAT I THOUGHT, LOL, OKAY IM BABBLING, GOOD LUCK AND WITH dR, rODRIQUEZ YOU ARE IN GOOD HANDS

OK, i JUST WAS IN THE HOSPITAL FOR 6 DAYS DUE TO EROSION AFTER ONLY FOUR MONTHS. i WAS BANDED IN MEXICO AND MY EMERGENCY SURGERY WAS PERFORMED BY U.S DOCTOR WHO SAT WITH ME FOR A LONG PERIOD OF TIME AND TALKED OF HOW THE EROSION HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THE MEXICAN DOCTOR, THAT EVERYBODY HAS A DIFFERANT TOLERANCE TO THE BAND, HE SAID THAT 4% OF ALL BANDS PLACED END UP IN EROSION, I DID NOT HAVE THE INAMED, I HAD THE JOHNSON AND JOHNSON SWEDISH BAND, AND HE AGAIN SAID THE EROSION HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THE BAND IT WAS MY BODY THAT DID NOT TOLERATE IT!! hE ALSO SAID THAT AS THE BAND BECOMES MORE POPULAR, IT IS TILL FAIRLY NEW, AND NO ONE CAN SAY WITH 100% WHY SOME ERODE AND SOME DONT, BUT MOST RESEARCH THAT WAS DONE, PROVES IT VARIES FROM PERSON TO PERSON, BODY TO BODY, THIS IS WHAT MY U.S DOC TOLD ME. (i NEVER READ THAT ANYWHERE) YOU DONT SEE THAT BECASUE THE COMPANIES PUT OUT THE RESEARCH THAT SOUNDS BEST, I BELIEVE. ....

I have posted a few times about my issue and no one seems to ever have experianced what I am going through, that is a good thing for all of you. It is soooooo freak'n painful to eat. This has been going on for like 2 months now, even water is like swallowing a rock. It used to be that if I wasn't eating i felt normal but now even when i dont attempt to eat or drink I have a constant headache that comes( as silly as it sounds) from my throat. I have been to the doctor several times, just did the barium test and awaiting results.They dont have any idea what it might be??? But I have not eat'n in a week, just broth 1 time a day, and water and OJ. I am miserable!!! DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS AS TO WHAT IT MIGHT BE??? IM SO AFRAID ITS IRREVERSABLE AND IS MAKING ME REALLY DEPRESSED THAT I DID THIS TO MYSELF!!!

Hello everyone, I am sooo freak'n hapy to report i got an answer today, I followed the advice of "Jack" and finally about 10 minutes ago i got a phone call from my doc!!!! Jack said: If it were me, I'd be sitting on the desk of the local guy until I got an answer!! I have narrowing of the esophogus (servere) and also a severe case of reflux, reflux??? I dont feel reflux :-) Only when im puking up the small amount of ANYTHING I TAKE, lol, im on my way to the ER per doctors request to get rehydrated. Yes Im very happy that I have an explanation. and thank you to EVERYONE who encouraged me and helped me. Again, it was those words from "jack" that really made me put my foot down and get to the bottom of this, cause trust me when I first called they literally said "we are really busy right now and will call back with results" then they told me two days to a week for results, needless to say I got answers TODAY. (Im so timid but those words kept flashing in fromt of my eyes, this is my life, not theres) Thanks again Lapband family!!!

Im three months into my band never been filled only because i cant eat as it is. I was banded in mExico so my barium was ordered by my pcp, I was able to watch but the doctor said i will go over them and get with your pcp.??? I will look up those that were given and see if it sounds like something i have Thanks for the encouaraging words!!

Okay this is how.... :-) I was banded on the 26th of Novemeber,About a week into my bandland i started feeling strange aches and pain, but in my head it was all sugery related, I was able to eat just fine, no problems, at that point I had lost like 10 lbs, if that, Anyways one day the pain was really bad took a half of vicodin, and about an hour later pased out, just thought it was a bad reaction to the medication which I have taken before but hmm, then on december 23, i had an anaphylactic reaction to something.Those who dont know what anaphlactic means let me just say its a life or death situation, I couldn't breath, my blood preasure had dropped to 40/20 I was rushed to the hospital taken into the trauma room??? where they pumped me with medications tried to get my breathing and oxygyn levels up, as well as BP. They ran a ton of tests and the only thing they found was a kidney infection, so I had to follow up with an allergist to see what I could possibly be all of a sudden alergic to, they found nothing specific but the antibody that you build up for allergys were sky high. in the 900's shouldn't be over 80 yes eighty. So the big concern is an obvious allergic reaction but they cant find the cause. I have been sick ever since, light headed, weak, tired and the latest is a headache for three days straight, although doctors all know that I have the band no one has brought up the fact that something might be wrong or associated with it. Also since December I have lost 20lbs, and that is due to not being able to eat, IM STARVING but it hurts so bad to eat. The only thing right now they are doing is the barium swallow test to see why it hurts so bad. My thought is I wonder if I could be allergic to something in the band, so I was thinking if anyone knows or has heard of this it would be here!! Just checking to see if Id be an idiot to suggest to the doctor that maybe they should look into it, and if I was banded in mexico, would they want to wash there hands of me, and make me go back to Mexico to find this out, I just want to be better, and be happy with the weight loss, im tired of being sick!!!

I have the IUD, and have had it for 4 years, I have not had any pregnancy's. The periods are a little heavier but not unbearable, the first few months you have cramps that dont feel like your typical cramps. Its best for me because i cant remember to take pills, the depro made me skip my period and although nice, I always thought I was pregnant lol. It primarily prevents pregnancy by interfering with the movement of sperm thus preventing fertilization of the egg. The copper IUD prevents fertilization as well as affecting the lining of the uterus so implantation will not occur. I have NEVER had a problem, and they say it is more then 98 percent effective, and does not increase possiblities of pregnancy. It was uncomfortable when inserted but no worse then the exam they do when they are checking to see if you are dialated when pregnant. I also have three kids and doctor told me that thats what makes it so much easier for us is because our cervix is used to it :-) Good luck in your decision!!!

Oh my goodness, I would have done the same thing!!!

I recently had read some other posts about being in pain when they eat, after a fill etc.. but my situation is slightly different and wondering if any one else had gone through this and/or knows what it might be. I had posted about 1 month after being banded because I had no restriction and had lost only the initial liqued diet lbs. and of coarse I was reasurred that I wouldn't have restriction until AFTER my first fill and maybe more, BUT about a week later I did start having restriction, in fact ive have been banded 2 months and have not gotten a fill because im having a really hard time eating as it is, and its not easing up. When I eat no mater how much i chew it ends up KILLING me in the middle of my chest it will ease up in a few minutes but the next bite does the same thing. Its to the point that when im hungry i will try to eat but give up after the first couple of bites, first thing in the morning i can not even drink water. I do force water down later in the day i dont want to become dehydrated. Has anyone else gone through this?? 11/26/2005 191/168/130

I dont lie to people either, when asked if im losing weight I just say yes I am, when they ask how, I just say a "change in diet" and more active. I agree its not lying at all, its just no going in to details!! I know you will find it in your heart to do whats right for you. The only thing that made me want to tell my mother was if something was to happen to me while in surgery, but I just decided I was going to believe everything would be fine, and of coarse I did. I also wanted to tell someone because i was soooo freak'n excited. Now if I tell my mom, I think she will would feel betrayed that I didn't tell her LOL. I chose not to tell ANYONE , the only people who know is my husband and kids, my daughters chose to go to the dance studio and tell 1 dance mom, but as far as the family NO WAY. For one my mother would have been worried sick, PLUS if this did not work for me or if something happens, I dont want the told you so's!! Im very happy with my choice, no regrets!!

I have been banded 2months and for the first few weeks I felt no restriction, But now when I eat I have to eat very slow, and very little to fill me up for hours, and have lost just as much weight in the last month as I did the first month. Everyone is different as far as the speed of weight loss but I think most are the same with not feeling restriction at the very beginning. My doctor said it would NOT be normal to feel restriction after being banded. Hope this helps..

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR INPUT, I NOW KNOW ITS OKAY TO NOT GET A FILL!! i WILL WAIT TILL i HAVE NO WEIGHT LOSS AND CAN EAT LIKE A PIG AGAIN HOPEFULLY THAT WILL BE NEVER!!! THANKS AGAIN I TRULY APPRECIATE IT!

Maybe not so much advice but opinions. I was banded on November 26th, I feel great and am still losing an average of 1-2 lbs a week. I am scheduled for a fill on the 16th of this month BUT, if im still losing and still feel restriction, (which is a different subject becuse I was told if I dont have a fill I shuldn't have restriction) BUT I DO!! Anyways, should I have a fill if im still doing just fine for weight loss? Or will it eventually catch up and be hard to get on track as far as fills and weight loss, im afraid that if I get a fill I will have a harder time eating then I already do,AND mostly why spend the money now for a fill if im still losing weight, right. Also i might lose fast and i dont want to start sagging too much because of fast weight loss. What do you all think!! Did anyone else have this predicament? I Just have to say how excited i was to find this site with real arizona people!!! You mean Im not the only person in arizona to be having this done haha kidding. My name is Andrea, I live in Chandler, and I am scheduled to have my surgery the day after Thanksgiving and hope that I can come to you guys for support!!! Im being banded by Dr. Arturo Rodriguez in Monterrey anyone else here have Dr. Rod??? Im a closet bandster, only my husband knows!! And the fact that I will be in Tucson with my mother, THE DAY BEFORE I HOP ON A PLANE TO MEXICO!!!! My mother is what I considered one of my best friend and she always just worrys sick about me, I dont want to stress her out, maybe I will end up telling her. ANYWAYS, I just wanted to introduce myself and hope I can get to know some of you a little more as I begin my journey!!

I have noticed around a week before my period I have major water weight, and a few days in to my period I drop a few, could this possibly be it??

The hunger pains were the worst after surgery, im 5 weeks banded and still when I do get hungry its such a crapy feeling, not the same as pre-banded hunger pains, not sure if anyone else has this same feeling/ but as far as the hunger goes i too posted on here pleading for suggestions, and it ended up that the protien shakes did work for me, along with some broth, like chicken and stars, tomato soup, applesauce, and WATER, its almost constant hunger pains, i know, but it will stop just make sure you are drinking water and drinking the protien shakes!!

How in the heck do you, or did you, all find a way to reach 60 grams of protien a day. I need help bad!! Everytime I eat anything an hour later I have the worst hunger pangs. the most I have had with protien is the the broth 2 grams!!!!! and thats for a whole serving!!!! Any help is much appreciated!! PS and yes i am drinking my Water so its not being mistaken for dehydration

i felt week and nasty like I was literally starving, and can I tell you when I drank my first protien shake within hours (you really have to sip) I was feeling awesome again, and for the first time in 5 days was able to get up and clean house, slowly, I became more and more hungry, sip very very slow, and soon you will be feeling better!! if you get the powder protien mix i suggest making it with water and a quarter of a banana for one will be easier to sip and not be thick and the banana to cover up the powdery protien taste!!

hah ok thanks people, I knew I could count on you all to set me in my place, see I feel all better, THis was the response i was hoping for, see i new i was just freak'n out for nothing, i told my husband that i do need to just toss the scale OUT!!! Like I said i was told that this is healing time and not weight loss time but its still in the back of your head, like oh my God is something wrong!! Thanks again!!

I feel so stupid asking this question, but Ive only been banded for 2 weeks lost 8 lbs and i am happy about that,BUT does this sound normal, slow, or what.... Ive been told a few times that before your first fill you should not have restriction and concidering every day is getting easier to eat (although I had my very fist pb today due to what think was not chewing good enough and eating too fast)i think that must be true. i just have been stuck for like 4 days with the same weight, please tell me im tripp'n!! =) I mean I dont expect to have lost 30 lbs in the first 2 weeks, but i need someone to tell me that this is normal, did all you experianced bandsters feel this way?

Hi kim, you will see that every doctor is different, my doctors orders were liquids for one week, and very soft food for 2-3 weeks, then moving on to regular food there after. As far as the PBing goes, i have read where people not only PB but also flat out Vomit the first few days, so concidering ive pb'd one time since being banded, im proud of that :-) But Thanks!!
