I was sitting in the WL office months ago waiting for my first consult and a lady who seemed about 100 pounds heavier than me asked where I was in my WL journey. Shyly I said I was just starting and these were her words to me. "If I can give you any words of wisdom, know that I sat were you sit now and weighing about what you weigh. People told me I didn't need surgery and I was not that overweight. Here I sit today 100 pounds heavier and wished I'd listen to myself and not others. I'm at my preop appointment. Did the history, blood test, EKG and so far so good! Nurse said not to pack too much. I do want to make sure that I have everything I need when I get home like, I don't know, teas, over the counter constipation meds, Biotin for my hair.???? I feel clueless! Okay I'm scheduled for Friday, June 3rd. My pre op appointment is this Thursday, May 19th and I will get my pre op diet regimen etc. Then on Monday, May 23 I will have blood test etc. to make sure all is well. Then wait for the day! I too struggle with depression and take meds. Currently it is managed and has been for a while. Now that surgery is close I'm worried about keeping up with the meds after surgery. I have schedule some appointments to talk to my counselor during this process just in case. He is so great! He said I can cancel if I don't need to talk. I have schedule appointments 2 weeks post op, 1 month post op and 6 weeks post op. At least the time is set aside for me if I need it. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I am so glad you posted this. My goal weight is about the same and my BMI is 39 and I keep thinking that maybe I should keep trying to lose weight on my own, but then I realize that I've been this overweight for a long time and I haven't been successful yet! I will say that having postpone surgery and wait from 12-2015 until 6-2016 went fast. Once you have qualified and everything is set then you just continued with life. I think all the appointments and wondering what is the next hoop you have to jump through, is what makes this seem like an unending process. I got that all out of the way back in Dec and now my surgery is around the corner! It went fast so hopefully Aug to Oct will go fast for you too! I would live to keep in touch! Okay everyone. I was suppose to have bypass 12/15/15 but got pneumonia. Now I am rescheduled for 6/3/2016. It is official I have Bronchitis! Surgery is 3 weeks away.
