  1. Happy 58th Birthday Michele123!

  2. Need some suggestions, please... My nails are peeling like onion skin. My guru at the health food store has me on liquid Calcium 2 times a day but it's not helping. I've upped my protien but I can't seem to stop this. Had my surgery in March and am down 35 lbs. Anyone else have this problem and what are you doing for it.... I'll try anything. Thanks, Michele

    Serious question for embarrassing problem

Thanks for the suggestions, I'm beginning to think that I'm not chewing enough. It happens when I don't eat gassy foods, I don't eat/drink dairy. Even when I don't have veggies... Today, I took chicken salad off a pita and just ate that... The afternoon was not pretty
  6. HELP!! I have severe gas and it's become a very serious and embarrassing problem. I was banded 3/13 and will have first fill 5/6. It doesn't matter what I eat, I get gas. I'm glad I can pass it but it's so bad that I dread eating lunch because I have to go back to work. Anyone else have this problem and what are you doing for it... I've tried just about everything I can think of.
  7. Banded on 3/13 and am down 20lbs. Yea me... but, i'm freezing all the time. Now, I'm not a delicate little flower (just yet) so I do have fat to keep me warm but I never had this problem before the surgery. If anything it was just the opposite (that female age thing). Does anyone have an explanation or solution? I'm sitting her freezing?????? Michele
  8. Hi, Thanks for your advice/words of support etc. I was really starting to get concerned abut the energy level. But, you all make terrific sense.... Just listen to my body and everything will work out... after all, I've come this far. Hugs, Michele

    clear liquids

My dr. let me have coffee/tea w/ a small amt. of milk. I drank so much broth that the smell of it now makes me sick. SF ice pops were a lifesaver. Good luck, it gets better. Michele
  10. Hi, I was banded on the 13, and I've got no energy. Did a load of wash, and ironed 3 blouses..... I barely made it up the basement steps. I'm exhausted. I started back to work last Thursday so this week it's 5 full day.... How am I going to make it through the week? Anyone else experiencing this exhaustion? If so, what are you doing to get your stamina back.. Michele
  11. Hi, got banded last Friday and I'm confused by some of the terms that you guys use. Could someone explain?

    Need Reasurrance/Clarification PLEASE

Thank you all so very much. I feel like tomorrow is my birthday..... my new birthday, anyway...

    Need Reasurrance/Clarification PLEASE

I can't speak to what you feel with the band because as I said, I GET BANDED TOMORROW!! But, your last sentence choked me up because I can't belive I've let myself get to the point where I have to get banded. All my life I've struggled to control my weight (the only one in a skinny family). But, 5 lbs turned to 10 and 10 to 50 in no time at all. I'm so terrified that this will be "just another diet I can't stick to." I think you're doing great.

    Need Reasurrance/Clarification PLEASE

18 lbs in 3 months is more than i've lost in 2 years. Thank you for all your support everyone.
  15. I realize that I'm very new to this and only getting my band tomorrow, but on a recent post, the poster expressed serious anger at her DR. because she hasn't lost (in fact, gained). In all the seminars I attended, the dietition stress that this is a tool no different from a scale or measuring spoons. If you continue to eat the wrong things you will not be successful. Since, I am having the surgery tomorrow, I guess I'm looking for reassurance that the majority of you do have a consistent weight loss. I know it's slow going but if it keeps going down, then I'm ok with that.
