Best friend totally unsupportive.
Daisy Day replied to Mrs Swen's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I had someone like that in my life, key word is HAD. I walked away, after surgery I made the choice to surround myself with positive people, not everyone knows that I had surgery but every one that I surround myself with is positive. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
I had sushi last week (2 months) and I had no problems at all, miso Soup is really great. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Red Light Therapy is helping with my scars and most of my stretch marks are pretty hard to see. It can really help with sagging skin. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Desert Sun in Western Washington, many tanning salons and fitness places has it. I absolutely love it, I feel better knowing that this has been shown to help with the scars and do a little shrinking. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Has anyone had any experience with Red Light Therapy? I was told that it helps with collagen production to tighten and firm skin, I'm wondering if it really works or if anyone has had any experience with it before I go dropping money on it. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

What if my PCP doesn't support this?
Daisy Day replied to Detroit_25's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Explain why you need it, list the benefits, explain how your weight effects your daily life. Like my osteoarthritis caused a lot of pain and effected my relationship with my children because I couldn't keep up with them, sleep was effected because of the pain and I was depressed because I could be the best mom I could due to my knees and ankles. Make your "presentation" sincere and personal, that will help you out. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Thank You, I'm thinking of starting it now before my sag gets really bad, the place near my home has a stand up and lay down beds, they also do tans, and wraps. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App A red bed is a Red Light Therapy bed Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I have an appointment to get my hair cut and bleached to look fuller, I take a huge amount of Biotin and I use the Biotin shampoo but my hair is starting to fall out. Sometimes lighter hair colors and shorter hair can help to hide the loss. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

What type of exercise in first month or two?
Daisy Day replied to ARNOLDSMB's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I started physical therapy at 3 weeks, they have given me my exercise regimen, I do both aquatic workouts as well as dry workouts. I love my recumbent bike when it is too cold to be outside. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
I get frustrated when people do the whole "I'm 4 weeks out and down 40 pounds from my highest weight" um, then you find out that they have only lost 18 since surgery. It's like there is some kind of weird race going on where who ever can brag the biggest numbers is the winner. Last time I checked I wasn't a contestant on the Biggest Loser! Every one should be proud that they just took the step to do this and be healthy, WLS is not easy and we should be encouraging each other with reality. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Complications from advancing diet too soon
Daisy Day replied to Frenchie1977's topic in Rants & Raves
I had Bariatric Advantage broccoli soup right after surgery, actually when I was still in the hospital I was given strained clam chowder and sugar free chocolate pudding. My first 2 weeks I ate so much of the Bariatric Protein Soups that the thought of them makes me gag. Every patient leaves the hospital with a list of what they can and cannot eat, we are mostly all adults, we all know the risks and have heard the horror stories. If someone wants to die like Mama Cass by chocking on a ham sandwich then it is their own fault that they became a casualty. I'm not trying to sound cold but some peeps need to just grow up. I take Sugar Bear hair Vitamins and I use Biotin shampoo and conditioner. I'm hoping to not lose much hair, if it really starts falling out then I will "Pixie" it and dye it a nice shade of blond to hide the thinning. My hair was super curly until I went threw chemo a few years back, now it is fairly flat, I hope I get something in between. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I had a cath and it was inserted after I was sedated and I don't remember it being removed. Right after surgery I was so out of it and it was safer for me to have a cath then for me to walk to the bathroom. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I use a good moisturizer (never a plain lotion) before I really towel off and I use humidifiers in my house to keep from drying out. I worked out a ton before surgery and even though I'm only 5 weeks out I am doing everything thing that I can safely do. Working out, moisture, and drinking Water will all help in the battle against the sag. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I am only 9 days out and I shuffle around my house and at the grocery store with my husband, I have never been the kind of girl to sit still for very long. I have a recumbent bike at home that I'm planning on slowly peddling in the next couple of days just a little bit here and there, I tried to do some good stretches but my stitches are still sore and I don't thing too much bouncing around would be a good idea. Does anyone have any advice? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I will be going back to work right after the holidays, I'm looking for some ideas as far as what I could pack. I will be doing "Blue Collar" controlled industrial area type work and fighting for a microwave is not an ideal thing. So far I'm thinking of dicing up chicken, small chunks of cheese, yogurt, and maybe avocado. What are things that you would put into your lunch box? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Accountability is something so many people lack. We are a population where most of us (not all) have had poor relationships with food as well as other aspects of our lives. Many might say out loud that they are ready for a change but deep down they are scared. For some weekly therapy should be for at least 6 months both pre and post op because the food issues could run really really deep. Sometimes it is the person who signed off on the surgery who never actually checked the mental health notes who could be at fault. Sometimes it is the patient who lied to get the surgery, pretending to be ready when they know they are not. Since my surgery a couple weeks ago I have had some monster cravings and I sipped my water and ate my strained clam chowder (they gave me strained clam chowder at the hospital the day after surgery along with yogurt and pudding), I thought to myself as I craved a grilled cheese sandwich what goes with it and I happily ate my tomato soup with a sprinkle of cheese. Not everyone has the same level of problem solving skills and some will sabotage themselves, and some might even make up a story or two for the sake of attention. I look at it as if someone signs up and within an hour posts about eating a slice of pizza with in a week of surgery and they have never posted anything before, I will question the source then walk a way from it, it just sounds too fishy to me.

I use my Apple Watch and I also have the Standland app with it, in the last 4 years I have been threw 4 major abdominal surgeries, I moved into my house last New Year's Eve just 14 days after one of those surgeries, my condo was in a super cute flat complex that was easy to shuffle around in, I did so many miles walking in circles around that complex. Unfortunately my new home is on top of a steep hill that even before surgery was hard to trek up, but I do have an Amazing view of the Olympic mountains. I am not allowed to drive for at least another week to be able to go mall walking every day, and even though my husband is super supportive after a long day at work he is not always wanting to venture out. I know that there are many creative minds here and I know that I'm not the only one in my predicament. I'm just looking for ideas, and maybe there will be others who are looking for ideas, and if I can think of something I will post it up. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I know that feeling, I have moments of being 90year old tired, I love walking my dogs but I live on top of a hill that is a pain to hike up, my neighborhood is perfect for walking except for the hill that my house sits on top of. Plus I live in the Seattle area and it has been getting pretty darn cold up here and I'm not a fan of cold right now. Half the time I have to keep reminding myself to slow down, the other half the time I have to remind myself to wake up....lol Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Daisy Day replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My thanksgiving was Awesome I had surgery the day before!!! I had an amazing view from my hospital bed and a morphine pump, my husband had the picnic basket I had packed for him and watched football, it was quiet except for medical personnel, and memorable. Daisy Day replied to saoirse16's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My BFF works in billing for Kaiser and it is covered if medically necessary, you have to be a certain BMI and have some health issues, she suggested to contact their weight loss services for more information. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
