Looking for support
Daisy Day replied to krpinaglia's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I double my goal loss by walking every day for at least 2 miles or 60 minutes and keeping my calories under 1600. I don't eat anything from a can or box, no wheat, potatoes, or corn. The only thing frozen I will eat is veggies or Arctic Zero, I get 60-80 on my Protein count and I keep my sodium below 1,800. My diet and routine are pretty strict. Everything is done, every test, every appointment, the weight is off, and the earliest they could do is November 14 for my last appointment and to meet the surgeon. If I don't have surgery before December 31 then I won't be able to have surgery period. I'm hoping that everything can get done in time. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
My next appointment is November 14 and then they will send it to insurance then schedule surgery and it all has to happen by December 30 or not at all Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Hey there all you happy people, so after a week of phone tag my doctors office finally got all my lab results to my surgeons office. I called my surgeons office to schedule for the pre-op appointment for get the ball rolling to get a surgery date and they told me that the surgeon needed to review the labs before we can go forward with anything. I asked the receptionist if everything looked ok and she said that she couldn't discuss it and that if the surgeon wants to proceed that it would be up to them. So here I sit with phone in hand waiting. To my knowledge my labs should be good my nerves are just racked. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I was wondering I finished all my nut, mental, and physical therapy appointments and all the tests and labs. I'm waiting to be scheduled for the "Test Results" appointment, how long after that until surgery? I keep getting different answers, I must get in before Christmas otherwise I won't have the insurance to get it... Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
The surgeon had my pcp do the labs then send the results to the surgeons office, my next pcp appointment in towards the end of October, my health insurance changes on the new year so I must have surgery before my insurance changes because the new insurance will not cover it. The new insurance will however cover the appointments after wards. My current insurance has already verbally told me that they will approve it, we are waiting on the surgeon to decide if he wants to do it. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Diet and Exercise before surgery?!?!?
Daisy Day replied to Tanette's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You can only be as successfull as the effort that you put into this. Everybodies adventure is different but there are a few things that are the same, I had to sit down and have a Huge Hit to my Ego and stop making excuses and just to shut my mouth and just do as I was told. It is a hard thing to be an adult and to just do as we are told. I made the choice to do what the nutritionist and what the physical therapist told me to do, I made to choice to think before I eat anything, I made the choice to get up off my butt when I did not want to, there are so many days and 100 different excuses for why I couldn't go for a walk but only one reason why I should ME! It is not an easy journey, if it were easy obesity would be cured and none of us would be here, but it is not easy, it is hard, it is the hardest thing many of us have every had to do. It took me a week to get my head in to the game, it took me 2 weeks to notice that walking was becoming easier, it took 3 weeks to look forward to salads and Protein shakes, now I am 16 weeks in and I am d 41 pound and a full dress size, I think before I eat, working out is part of my daily routine, I am ready for this! Remember to Love yourself because you have to live with yourself for the rest of your life. If you are here then you have taken the first step, the second step comes next and you can do it, you got this! -

I have completed all of my prerequisites and now I'm waiting on the surgeons office to schedule my test review so that everything can be sent in to insurance for approval. Once I get approved then I can be scheduled, waiting is the hardest part to all of this. I'm have surgery at UWMC in Seattle and the process involves a lot of waiting.... Bariatric Choice is available on Amazon and I ordered the Tomato, Broccoli, Cream of chicken, and Cream of Mushroom Soups. I like broths, and for a total treat I have either Arctic Zero frozen treats or sugar free low calorie hot cocoa with some PB2 powder added for some Protein. I'm still around 6 weeks out from surgery and I have started to stock up on Protein and Vitamins, I have no plans of shopping for the first few weeks after surgery, what are things that I should be stocking and how much? I'm planning on packing my pantry up. Thanks in advance. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I have some Bariatric Choice Soup mixes, Jello, and clear Protein mixes. I also have a variety of Premier Protein shakes, and EAS protein shakes. If there is something that I decide I can't stand the taste of I know my husband will use it (not a Bariatric patient just in to fitness). Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I sat down with the social worker and a couple nurses and we discussed the pros and cons of each procedure, then I made the decision from there. When tests come back and if everything looks good then I will be getting the RNY Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Test results or peer appointment, the appointment after you get all of your requirements done and decide if surgery is right for you. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
My nut appointments are in a group setting and I am amazed at how many participants show up with fast food milkshakes or Starbucks. I had to listen to a guy tell me that eating a 12 in Subway sandwich for both lunch and dinner is healthy and that it is his morning Protein shake and apple that is causing him to not loose weight. There are 10 people in my group and only 2 of us are on track with the program, most of them end up having to get extensions on their programs or they drop out. Insurance pays for the entire surgery and they are not excited to drop a ton of money on someone who is not going to make the most of it and make the lifestyle changes they need. Surgery is a gift, it is a tool, and a big responsibility, it is not a quick fix. I have heard so many complain about having to loose a set amount weight before they have surgery, some people can not loose weight even with surgery and a good indicator that surgery may not be the best option is to have a patient be in a 6 month program to loose a set amount of weight. If they are unable to loose weight with diet and exercise then they may not loose any weight with surgery and that would be a lot of money and pain for nothing. Many people refuse to see the big picture and are stuck in their own heads. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

How long after your last Nut appointment before you were able to get your test results appointment, and how long after that before you were able to have surgery? I have completed everything except one last Nut appointment and that will be next week, I'm hoping for surgery before December. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
So I work from home and I'm looking forward to a Oct/Nov bypass surgery. I see my boss every 5-6 years (I'm lucky) and she is highly against any form of WLS unless it is liposuction. I had mentioned a couple months ago about needing some time off and when I told her she went off the deep end talking about how I just needed to take up smoking and drinking 5 cups of coffee a day, and how horrible the surgery would be (she is elderly). Anyways I need to come up with a reason why I'm taking 10-14 days off work (I can work from my recliner), I have plenty of vacation time to cover, she will ask what and where I'm doing and going and simply say that it is none of her business is not an option. Any ideas? And a European vacation would be way to expensive. Why do people got to be so closed minded ARGH! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

She is around 70-75 years old, when I ask for time off if and she asks why and I tell her that it is none of her biz would make things really awkward. Thank You Everyone for the advice Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
