Done! Good luck with your thesis. I remember how stressful that was, but I made it through. You will, too! Sent from my KFASWI using the BariatricPal App

    Advice, please!

I will ask my primary care physician. I was using ibuprofen in significant amounts prior to surgery, however-though not confirmed- I had a tumor removed from my liver during surgery. I had no idea it was there. Thankfully not cancerous and I was never told a cause, but the surgeon said my consumption of ibuprofen was likely a contributing factor. Scary! 3. I'm looking for advice or feedback. I've been having headaches often since surgery. I've always been prone to migraines, but hadn't had one for years. Since surgery, headaches are almost a daily occurrence and I'm getting a migraine weekly. Just had labs last week and everything was in normal limits. Anyone else have this problem? Anyone from Minnesota?

Hi! I'm from Rochester and I know that Olmsted Medical Center has a support group that meets once a month (free of charge). I hope to have surgery in September at Mayo and plan to participate in OMCs support group after surgery. That's great. I use Olmsted as my primary care, so I'll have to ask my doc about this group as I didn't know it was there. I had my surgery at Gunderson in LaCrosse and they have groups, but the drive is too much. Thanks for the info, and good luck with your surgery! Sent from my KFASWI using the BariatricPal App

    Anyone from Minnesota?

That is too bad you can't find local support if you need it. You do have us here. Hopefully you have family and friend support. Especially those days you need it most. Be sure to reach out on here anytime you need it. As you can see it's a very open place to discuss ANYTHING!Good luck. HW: 281.5 on 10.30.15 SW: 245.7 on 6.1.16 CW: 213 on 7.25.16 I am very blessed to have a good support system in my family and at my job. The part I miss is meeting face to face with others who have been down my path. I'm a counselor myself, so I know he important that is. I value my feedback from everyone on here as well. Thanks! Anyone from Minnesota?

Hey all! I'm in the Rochester area. Sleeved May 2nd. No support groups around here. It's really a shame there isn't more support options overall. Hope you are all doing well! Sent from my KFASWI using the BariatricPal App
  8. I am from MN, but have BCBS of Iowa and I had surgery in Wisconsin...covered the tri-state area! Lol! I've heard it's harder to get approval from MN. My process went smoothly. I started on it in November 2015 and was sleeved on May 2nd 2016. So, about 6 months. I no longer get insurance coverage for post-op nutritional visits, but I self-pay for this because it's important for my health. Good luck!! Sent from my KFASWI using the BariatricPal App

    Alcohol Addiction

I am a drug and alcohol counselor. I strongly advise you to seek professional help. Withdrawal from alcohol can kill you. Medically supervised detox is the safest way you can do this. After detoxing, I suggest treatment of some sort with counseling. Please get help, if money is a concern, there are often programs to pay for or help pay for services. Community support, such as AA is also super important. This is only my opinion based on what I've read and of course, you will make your own choices, just wanted to put in my two cents from the perspective of one who works with addiction every day. YOU ARE NOT ALONE, many out there to help. Sent from my KFASWI using the BariatricPal App

    Life with CPAP

I have a love/hate relationship with my CPAP, but only because I'm claustrophobic. I have a Dreamwear mask. It fits kinda like an oxygen tube you had in the hospital. (Best way I can describe it.) The hose connects at the top of my head, which allows better movement since I don't stay in one position. I am more rested each day. Good luck, I think the mask is the key to success! Sent from my KFASWI using the BariatricPal App

  14. Yeah.....so my first thought was Jello shots with liquor and I just had to check out the post. Sadly, I never thought of making these without the booze! Lol! Sent from my KFASWI using the BariatricPal App
  15. I am going back to my fitness studio this week. I'm feeling overwhelmed because I don't want to hurt myself. I always want to put in 110% work, but I've hurt myself in the past (insert 2 broken feet....twice). I'm planning on a strength class, which has some core work. I'm a month and a half out, doc say no restrictions on weight, so I'm wondering how others have transitioned into fitness.....in a safe way....I have no more body parts I wish to damage! I wanna work out...

You guys rock! I will keep all of your comments in my head today while I'm attempting to do yoga. One of the personal trainers at the studio suggested I do one class a week, since I'm also going to be playing softball, until I can handle increasing anything. I wanna work out...

So...I played a full game of softball last night. Pretty sore today and cannot walk the best, but went for a slow short walk tonight because it's too beautiful outside for me not to. We only get a few months of glorious summer, so I gotta get in the walks now before it's -20 degrees again! ???? Sent from my KFASWI using the BariatricPal App

    I wanna work out...

I'm feeling pain in my lower back, which makes me think my back is trying to compensate for my lack of core strength. This may provide me with a natural "slow down". Thanks for your advice! Sent from my KFASWI using the BariatricPal App

    I wanna work out...

Thanks...part of what makes it tough is how much I miss my crew at the studio, then, of course I don't want to slow down. It's a mind thing for me I've been trying to get a hold of for awhile...not the only place in my life I have perfectionist tendencies. Sent from my KFASWI using the BariatricPal App

What made you get a tat?

It does have such a deep meaning, which is incredibly personal to each person who has it. I'm certain yours also comes with a beautiful story behind it. Sent from my KFASWI using the BariatricPal App

What made you get a tat?

I have a lizard on my thigh. I'm obsessed with getting more, but it has to be meaningful to me. I'm thinking a butterfly, which is a symbol of transformation. Or a lotus to symbolize the dark, murky Water I came from, yet turning into a flower.....Yep, sounds cheesy, but I don't care. Sent from my KFASWI using the BariatricPal App

    Sleep study?

I did one as well. Didn't feel like I slept much, but enough to learn I stopped breathing 84 times an hour. I also learned that I rarely get to REM sleep (the restorative kind) for that reason. That explains why I was tired ALL THE TIME. Not only do they not want you to stop breathing during surgery, but over time untreated obstructive sleep apnea can contribute to many serious problems, including premature death. For me, that was enough to endure one night in the sleep center, besides, it's not like I really slept better at home....as evidenced by my sleep report afterwards! Good luck!!!
