    HAIRLOSS NIGHTMARE

I am taking Nourkin supplements, using Regaine 5% foam (Rogaine in the USA) and using the hairmax lasercomb. No idea if any of it is working really. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Pet peeve: extra skin.

That my friend is exactly how I felt when my Nutritionist told me to eat every 1/2 that I am awake!! Admitted I did have a huge problem eating, it started because I had Strictures after a month from my RNY. (I am 3 and 1/2 years out now)I had developed an aversion to food. So my Surgeon sent me to her. I just looked at her with disbelief. I then told my hubby that I felt like I had just traded one eating disorder for another!! I refused to become a grazer!!! All is great now. But your post just brought it all up again. She was a Bariatric Nutritionist. Why would she say that!! Oh well it is all in the past now. LOL It just makes me so mad!! Wow! I also developed food aversion and can't really taste food anymore. Everything tastes the same, sits like lead, spikey rocks in my sleeve etc. The only foods that sit well are carby sliders which I refuse to eat. My Bariatric nutritionist has declared that I have an "abnormal fear" of carbohydrates and gaining weight because I won't. So yes, for now, I have traded problems. In my head, I had visions of wearing shorts in the summer, having a relationship where I take my clothes off, going swimming, moving around without compression garments etc. I had planned to have plastics on my legs but it's just too risky. I'm not saying that anyone shouldn't have wls at all. I am just saying that you need to manage your expectations and plan for the unexpected. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

You would think so. A bit of me feels that I have traded one problem for another. I can walk better but have to strap in my floppy thigh skin or I get sores then can't walk! lol Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  5. Certainly a possibility but needs checking out in case there is a post op infection, leak or unknown entity involved. I would be seeking medical help immediately. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  6. Ring your surgeon now. If you can't get in touch with your team, go to the hospital or healthcare centre. Being dehydrated is bad for you and can cause you issues. Have you been monitoring your temperature? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

A Little More Off the Rear Please!

I have the female version! Carrying things in my arms and feeling my jeans slowly departing from my waist, praying no one notices. I am putting new holes in my belt every week! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  10. No. Nice man, but was pretty neglectful post op. He did his actual surgical job and considered it a success despite all of my post op complications. I was never angry at him but my initial weightloss was through illness and everything else I have literally done alone. I never see my surgeon. He is only called in if I actually need further surgery. The nutritionist and I do everything via text. But I am hopeful for a great future and leaving all the bad stuff behind. Following all the health issues of 2016, I am now planning a fantastic 2017. My plan is to get healthy, make my sleeve work for me and make my future bright for me. I wish him well because he is a nice man. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Any UK sleevers?

I had no pain at all after surgery. Even my incisions didn't hurt and the one where the drain was, was an open wound for ages. I do get burning pain from acid and dense Protein sits like rocks in my stomach so I get uncomfortable but no pain at all. If you have any doubts, do lots of research now! Hi and best wishes! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  14. My surgical team decided that my post op abdominal pain and blood tests showing infection was definitely gallbladder issues and wanted to take it out. He poked my tummy, I winced in pain and he referred me for gallbladder removal. I was devastated after having had post op complications and was terrified of further surgery so soon after. I didn't have gallstones or gallbladder issues at all. I had a clostridium difficile infection in my bowel. So even though I lost a shocking amount of weight in 4 weeks due to illness, my gallbladder has not suffered, that we know of. Yet my daughter, who lost weight on a conventional diet, had to have her gallbladder out on an emergency basis. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  18. I am seven months post op and my restriction is still there. Just as other people have said here, I could eat carbs that turn to liquid and things like chocolate though. I can also drink most things now. So I could easily take in too many calories and gain weight. I get a strange hungry type feeling but it's not like before surgery. I usually drink Water then take whatever antacid, PPI etc that I am due to check if it is true hunger. My head still wants things that my body just won't tolerate like pizza, burgers, fries and other old favourites. I also don't drink alcohol. But I won't ever eat any of that. Protein first for me, my water, meds and supplements then veg. I try to eat fruit occasionally too. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Got confused today re eating bugles ....

I guess the same way an American would be confused by someone from England saying they ate a "spotted d**k" by sucking on it to make it mushy...........Hey wait a minute. It isn't as suggestive with a bugle snack.Really BariatricPal? Spotted d i c k is a real dessert.I guess we can't use the word "d**k. As in: d**k Tracy d**k Van Dyke d**k Cheney d**k's Sporting Goods d**k Cavett d**k and Jane etc. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Women - losing hair?

Unfortunately I couldn't take in any protein at all for three months and now am still battling to hit the protein markers. I had two punch biopsies and I appear to have completely dead or missing follicles in some areas but the Dermatologist is hopeful for regrowth in areas where follicles still exist. She prescribed the minoxidil and The Belgravia Hair clinic uses the lasercomb in combination with it. The other supplements may or may not help but my nutritionist said a placebo effect might be positive. I have alot of malnutritional deficiencies so I am prepared for the baldness. The haircut did help though because I now don't have handfuls coming out in my hands due to the length. Several of my real life bariatric friends recommended the cut and they were right. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Im sorry to hear about your difficulties. It does sound like have other causes for hair loss beyond just the surgery. I still believe that for most who just get some hair falling out a few months after surgery, the cause is usually telogen effluvium and that hair will return and that there is no cause for great alarm if they understand what is happening... Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App Clearly, the post op complications, nutritional deficiencies etc certainly contributed to the hair loss, not simply the trauma of surgery. I definitely wasn't going bald prior to surgery though. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Women - losing hair?

I didn't start losing mine until I was four months out. This is one thing that I can't control so trying not to worry about it. I am taking Nourkin supplements, using Regaine (Rogaine in the USA), and a Hairmax Lasercomb plus extra Biotin and silica. The dermatologist says that I can expect to continue to lose through this hair cycle until I am 9 months out. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
