Hey Everyone! I'm 8 days post-op now, and I know that we should not have hunger post surgery, most say they never feel hunger again for some time. But I am experiencing it between almost all my meals. Now I know some may say this is head hunger, but this is not, its physical hunger, stomach growling, the feeling bubbling up your throat, and when I take my next meal it goes away. Anyone else experience this? I've heard some say it could be acid and the staple line and your brain thinking its hunger when its not. I'm taking my daily acid blocker too. Its SO ANNOYING! Any tips or helps would be so nice!

I'm 2 days out as well, i've found walking has truly made everything better, even just around the house. It gets the gasses moving and out, also i've noticed don't wait to take pain meds, liquid oxy and tylenol have been a godsend, but don't wait, just take as prescribed. I've noticed if I nap, I wake up so sore and achy and stiff, so try to get up and moving after one. Good luck!

My docs told me to take 60ml every 15 minutes until I feel pressure or fullness, which has been perfection. I've got down probably 50-60oz today, and i'm on day two. I would say standing up while drinking helps, get the gas rolling out of you. You shouldn't worry too much about protein until you start your next phase, but every doc is different. I'll be rolling into my liquid foods phase starting sunday, I cannot wait for drinkable yogurt and protein shakes!!

2 days post op still in the hospital

I luckily got out the day after surgery, didn't have an issue getting liquids down, but I had the worst hiccups of my life almost every hour, which made them keep me longer to make sure I wasn't injuring the incisions, also every sip I had bad gas pains. But I got home last night and i've spent most of the day in and out of sleep and taking my liquids. Hang in there, I know how it is where you just want to be disconnected from the machines and in your own bed! -
I have cigna as well, the entire process took me one month, mainly because they were lagging and overloaded it sounded like, but it was submitted on April 14, then for some reason cancelled, they resubmitted on may 2nd, and approved just this monday! Surgery is today for me, woo! As long as you meet the minimum requirements ie BMI or health issue, you should be approved just fine. Best of luck!

Hi All! I'm so excited to join this community, and gearing up for the big day next Wednesday 5/11! I'm 26 years old, and have struggled my entire life with my weight, after a recent health concern with my father, at his weight of near 400 pounds, I realized I needed to take control of my life again, and ensure that I don't end up in the same predicament as him. After about 3 months of pre work and labs/tests, i'm finally almost there. I've lost 15 pounds pre-op, and am really ready to just get this surgery over with to get on with recovery! I'm taking off 5 weeks off of work, which i'm so thankful for, since so many of you have said how fatigued you are for a few weeks after. Any and all tips, tricks, and pre-op information you might have for me would be amazing! I've done a ton of research, but its great to hear your stories, as well as any other threads you found helpful during your journey!
