Had a vertical gastric sleeve performed 10/17/2011. Highest weight 308 lbs. Lowest weight in 2013 was 213 lbs. Was working out with a trainer 3 to 4 times a week. About 6 months after my training began, I started having sciatic and sever muscle and joint pain. I was initially diagnosed with arthritis and fibromyalgia.
I was able to hold my weight down for the next year to year and a half. As my condition worsened, the weight seemed to pile back on. I have currently gained 27-28 lbs in the last year and a half.
Last month I was finally diagnosed with SLE (systemic lupus). I am trying to make sure that I am active daily, and that I stay within 1200 to 1300 calories per day, keeping my carbs low and trying to get in as much protein as I can, but to no avail. It is imperative that I lose the excess weight I am carrying due to my illness.
At this point I am so frustrated and depressed. I am currently considering a revision procedure, and seeking medical intervention to see what if anything can be done.
I welcome any and all advice in this matter. I am really not sure what kind of complications might occur with a revision, or if it really is necessary at all.
This is my story at the moment. I will continue to research my options, and keep anyone interested updated on my journey.
Good luck to anyone else experiencing an similar issue!
