I have a young daughter and travel for work, I'm hoping to get feed back on what you all eat when out and about at chain places and sit downs. Sometimes finding the healthiest options are tough when you're on the go. Also how long do you all take to eat the portions you do? I'm days away from my 5 month mark! Seems like you and I are pretty parallel. I just had my 5 months yesterday and I'm down 75lbs. I've been heavy since I hit puberty and before that I was tease for wearing glasses and being tall for a girl. However I agree, getting dressed feels weird. I recently went to a wedding where I reunited with my college friends and they were excited for me. They didn't see me at my heaviest but we're still supportive. My mom and sister are not. I've always been the heaviest of my sisters and now that I've caught up to them, she doesn't like it. My older sister thinks I'm her personal doll and loves that we can share almost all our clothes. I was a 22 the day of surgery, I'm now approaching 12 in some styles...I still don't believe it and hate getting the compliments. My dad and my 8 yr old daughter are very happy forMe and that's good enough I guess. Does it ever feel better? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Surgery around the holidays
Delta07 replied to Christina T.'s topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had mine 12-3-15...I thought it'd be nice to have my last meal be thanksgiving...except I didn't consider the preop diet! Lol it was truly tough to go all the major holidays without getting anything but shakes! However, it was great getting to be home the whole month (my dr gave me 2 weeks and then my work vacation started since I work for a school) I don't know how people go back so soon! Things we dont have to worry about anymore!
Delta07 replied to krista132's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My last two relationships went south because of something similar. It encouraged me to take the first step in this journey even though we broke up right after that first step. At the start I used to think well if only he could have waited to see the result. Now, well he's in another relationship with someone thinner than I was but heavier than I am now. He's seen where I'm at now...and he couldn't hide the surprise lol it was nice and definitely has kept me away from the negative thoughts and doubts I had at the start. It motivates me to keep going even though I never did all this for him. That first moment of confidence (my first in nearly a decade) is what I think of when I stall in my weight loss. It gets me motivated to keep trying and refocuses me to get back or stay on track. I know many of us did it for ourselves, to be healthy and be around for our kids and families but having been left by my daughters father and then this guy over it, I can't say I feel guilty for being proud of myself and neither should any of y'all! Only we know how tough this journey can be at times! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

I can completely relate! I couldn't imagine how people went back to work at only 2 weeks! The surgery is bigger than most believe and when you get used to it, you realize how much you managed to overcome. I promise you, it gets better. Stick to your Vitamins and rest as much as possible. If you work it can be tough. I'm a single mom and work and laughed when the nurses have me that advice but it helped so much with recovery. At about week 5 you'll wake up feeling a little normal and it'll get better from there! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
