Anyone starting weight at 200 lbs? Help :)
kitkattulsa replied to asolanom's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
This is the most motivating thread for me...everyone is starting where I am. I have surgery Nov 29. I am interested how you felt after surgery? Did your cravings stop or continue? How do you deal with head hunger? Just love the motivation!!!! I have been chunky since I was a baby (thanks mom) and battling my weight forever. I got up to 223 and used diet pills and dropped to 140 my lowest weight. I maintained this with 800-1000 diet, weight lifting 45 min and walking an hour 6 days a week. I kept it off for 8 years while maintaining the exercise. But it slowly climbed up. Then I went through an ugly divorce, had extremely low thyroid and potassium levels. Next came a stressful job and now I am up to 228 my highest ever I was excited to start the WLS program and the Drs told me to maintain my weight for surgery since my BMI was lower. Not sure that was good. I am worried that it will harder for me at surgery time. I am really trying to be 'good'. I cut out soda, drinking out of a straw, slowed down eating but I need to work on my sweet tooth. its fine at home, we keep no sweets here. It is when I leave and start driving somewhere. I will nip it in the bud I am sure but its a challenge. -

I was told to maintain my weight. You'll need to meet criteria of bmi or bmi with co-morbid. They're upfront and awesome team. Sent from my SM-N920T using the BariatricPal App -

Curious, everyone sounds able to easily adjust after surgery. We're you following a strict diet before? My surgery is Nov 29 and I've cut back but feel like I'm going through the food funeral stage but regretful because it doesn't taste as good as I thought it would Sent from my SM-N920T using the BariatricPal App -
Did any of you have to try prescription weight loss pills before looking into the gastric sleeve?
kitkattulsa replied to amy120's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
One update I just found is I do have a minor heart valve leak from the pills. Be aware of the side effects. I personally wouldn't have used them if I knew it would happen. Sometimes we get too wrapped up in the results and ignore the risks Sent from my SM-N920T using the BariatricPal App -

I've read a lot of people have stalls. But you mentioned you ate beef Jerky which is high on salt. Salt makes you retain Water. Try to avoid processed foods. I know every Drs guidelines are different on food but my Dr will have me on soft foods at that point. Good luck...slow is not a bad thing, your going in the right direction. Soon nervous, sitting in the Drs office for my last appointment. I have a low BMI and need to maintain. I couldn't sleep at all. Woke up at 3 an and my weight was spot on. Ugh before I left the house I was 1.5 lb heavier...so nervous. I didn't eat much yesterday or today. I'm scared I have a gain and insurance will deny me. Are they that picky?
