I'm only 3 days post op and have to crush my pills (pain meds and my allergy meds)... my question is, will I have to do this forever or is this just post op? And if I do, anyone have any suggestions on getting them down easy? Eww, my allergy meds are gross!

I didn't go through Dr. Laker, but I did go through Great Lakes (with Dr. Weiner)... everyone is really great (although I'm partial to my doc, he's the best!). Regardless though, the staff is helpful and genuinely caring. The overnight stay at Harper was great too, I was nervous about that, but the care was phenomenal. And yes, as someone mentioned prior, we are very lucky to have this type of facility so close to home for us Metro-Detroiters... most of the people on the floor (Harper has an entire floor (with private rooms) designated for all the WLS patients) were from out of town. I'm not a big drinker, but I did ask my doc about this because I noticed I'm a total light-weight now! I literally had about 5 sips of a glass of wine and couldn't drink any more because I was already feeling it. I've read that you should wait 1 year, but my doctor just laughed it off and said he's heard that from other patients and advised me to (of course) watch my liquid calories and be careful! :biggrin:

Fun thread!! Well as much as I really want to wear a bikini too (I'd even be ok as a chubby girl in a bikini, I just don't wanna be a ginormous cow in a bikini!)... I'd say my actual dream outfit would involve khaki cargo pants. I always assumed they'd be cute on me since they appear to cover up stuff, but nope, I end up looking to the biggest blob when I was going more for a Jennifer Aniston kind of look lol!

I totally had a similar situation, but at the hospital FOR MY LAPBAND! One of my doctors (part of the 'team' that would be in the room with my actual doctor) had the ba$$ to check in on me before surgery and ask "Well have you ever actually tried to diet and exercise?" Honestly, I wish I could have come up with something like you did (I'm not nearly that quick lol) but I literally laughed in his face because it was so ridiculous and finally chocked out an "Of course"... I mean what did he expect me to say? Like I was going to be like, "OH, is THAT what I should try? Let me take these tubes outta my arm and put my clothes back on!"

I've had a few dreams in which I ate all the stuff I've been craving... it was funny and weird, when I woke up I kinda felt satisfied, kinda felt sad LOL.

I've been reading a lot of posts about PB's on this site (I even searched within the site for more details)... but tell me, what exactly is it? What happens? What are the repercussions? What causes them? Anything I need to know, seeing that I'm a newbie? Tell me all the details, even the gross ones! :biggrin2:

Hi Everyone! I'm Sarah, just had my surgery on Friday (2/15/08) and I'm feeling great! I had my surgery at Harper Hospital with Dr. Weiner, LOVED it there!!!! I'm hating my liquids at this point, but I like being 10lbs down! =)

Congrats!!! I'm three days post-op and feeling awesome!! I mean, sure I have some pain, but surprisingly I'm feeling really good emotionally. I guess I thought I'd feel weird or depressed about the permanence of what I had just done... but nope! I'm feeling so good and looking forward to what the future has in store! =)

I've been a lurker on this board for a while... but I'm ready to start getting more involved! =) My surgery is tomorrow morning... can't believe its already here. I'm a little nervous as well as a little excited. Anyway, just thought I'd start posting! I'm sure I'll be back here when I get home on Saturday!

This is EXACTLY why I'm not telling ANYONE except my husband... I just don't feel the need to have to 'defend' my decision to others (who aren't me, who will never be me, and who will never know what it feels like to be me!). Regardless though, I'm so sorry you have to hear this from your boss =(
