Hairloss has begun! 4 mos post

Surgery October 4th here. I have been taking all Vitamins as prescribed and started shedding at about month 3. I honestly have not read anything that prevents it from happening. It's not the lack of Protein because years ago when I was on Adkins I had the same problem. I am hoping it is like that time. hair gets thinner but not bald. 4. Starting weight 245. Weight this morning 185 Surgery date October 4th. 5 ft.8 in. I don't know what I want my goal weight to be. I'm 56 and think I would be happy at 160. I try to get my Protein and drink between meals. Probably eat 5 times a day something. 3 mealsand 2 Snacks. I quit doing my fitness pal when my calories were always1000 to 1200 calories. I have never had regretted having the surgery. I am tiring of Vitamins. Some foods give me hiccups and sneezing. I'm associating th is with eating 1 or 2 bites more than I should. Wish I had done this 10 years ago! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-T377A using the BariatricPal App

  12. I'm only 16 days post op, but have been reading here for about 7 months. From my research there is nothing that prevents hair loss. Some experience more than others regardless of Vitamins and Protein. My friends that had the surgery had thinning but not to the point to buy a wig. I started out with thick hair hoping for minimal loss. The good side of the research was.....most people reported their hair grew back. Since I wanted the surgery so much, I put the hair worry in last place. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-T377A using the BariatricPal App
  13. I carried the pillow for the ride home that others suggested...great idea. What I should have carried that I didn't was.... soft bra without underwire. It took me about 5 days before the regular bra was ok. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-T377A using the BariatricPal App

    ABNORMAL EKG

I also had an abnormal EKG. Had a nuclear stress test and everything was fine. It's good to know information either way. It's also comforting to know some programs are thorough and careful! Good luck. It was an easy test! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-T377A using the BariatricPal App

    Post op - all liquids

I was having trouble getting my Protein also. I got some genpro unflavored Protein powder and mix with my crystal light. 30 grams of protein and easier for me to drink than the Protein Shakes. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-T377A using the BariatricPal App
  17. I took my one pill on the way to the hospital. The goal was 1 1/2-3 hours before surgery. I had zero nausea but don't know if it was due to the pill or I was just not going to have any nausea. I did have to go to 3 pharmacies before I found one at Kroger pharmacy! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-T377A using the BariatricPal App

    How long?

Maybe they were just trying to give themselves plenty of time. My clinic submitted within 24 hours and approval the following day. I do have to give the office many praises for their organization, scheduling and professionalism. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-T377A using the BariatricPal App

    Pain drinking anything...3 days out

I have to crush all of my pills and open any capsules for 8 weeks. The Protein is harder for me but I wouldn't describe it as pain. I can do liquids but it is easier with warm broth, warm decaf tea, or half Water with half juice. Sample and see what is best for you. I certainly don't have all the answers but it seems as though liquid would be more important in the first few days. I'm on day 5 and I may be further post op than you. My surgeon said to walk and sip at the same time to make it easier. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-T377A using the BariatricPal App
