Let's have Fun this holiday weekend
TheYapper replied to shan0520's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Thank you! Still a but further to go, but not as far as I had. I love Hank and all he accomplished, but I'm happy I don't have to carry him around every day. I'm sure he wouldn't want to carry me either. [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23] -
Let's have Fun this holiday weekend
TheYapper replied to shan0520's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I have lost Hank Aaron (180 pounds) -
It's good to have a taste to look forward to. Gonna have to try that creamy tomato soup. It sound good. I'm afraid I may tire of Cream of Chicken.

So far so good. My worst experience was the cotton mouth and dry lips immediately after surgery. I was only allowed moistened swabs as needed until I passed the swallow test the following day, meaning 26 hours without drinking liquid. I have very little pain and so far the diet is going surprisingly well. I feel so full after every liquid meal. My only issue has been struggling to get that 64 ounces of Water down and 5 days without a BM until today (okay, probably TMI there). I lost 20 pounds during the liver shrinking diet and am down 30 since I first began the process in early April. I will have my first post-surgery weigh-in on Wednesday. No food cravings or hunger at this point, and so far all the foods taste the same except the vanilla Protein powder which suddenly tastes twice as sweet.
-
Hang in there, the struggle will pay off
-
Yes, 3 a day for me. I've added a bit of water to cut down on the vanilla sweetness. chocolate seems about the same. I must have the wrong brand of SF popsicles because mine are essentially tasteless. But I am loving strained Cream of Chicken Soup, something I thought I would never say. Keep up the great work. I know it will be worth it for all of us.

Very encouraging! My energy came back today but not sure it will last for the liquid diet duration. Sounds like you are doing great, and hopefully you'll have a great first post-op weigh-in.

Thank you. That helps a lot!

Sugery Date brought forward.
TheYapper replied to AnnaBanana.NZ's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did. Mine was moved from July 21 to June 20. I had mentally prepared for the latter date and was offered to move the date up and a jumped at it. Then thought : oh my, no Father's Day brats and cheeseburgers. I then realized why I'm in my situation. My first thought was food, not how much healthier I would be. Still lots of battles ahead, but we're on our way. Good luck! -
Ok who is currently on a preop diet?!
TheYapper replied to Katrinakit's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Three days into LS diet and it's been shockingly easier than expected. My diet is limited carb (under 110 grams) and 60 minimum protein but 100 or more is encouraged. I love fish, and it's been an anchor early on. Good luck to all on our journey to better health. -
June 20th Bypass Surgery Date
TheYapper replied to acarter102's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
June 20 for me. I'm on day 3 of liver shrinking diet. So far so good. Hope all goes well. I'm 100% convinced that we will love the results down the road. -
Got it. Thank you!

I have a June 20 surgery day and no issues through Day 2 of the liver-shrinking pre-op diet. Curiously, my diet says I may have egg whites, but not yokes. Forgot to ask why. Is it sulfur related or some other reason. Have searched the Internet and can't find an answer. Does anyone know?

Anyone chose self pay due to impatience with ins?
TheYapper replied to fits_like_a_sleeve's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Totally self-paying since my insurance won't cover it. No regrets and much easier if you can afford to do it. -
Yes. Mine was a great help. The polysomnogram diagnosed sleep segments of no longer than 20 minutes at a time and my heart rated maxed out at 180+ during one episode. I met with the doctor who disclosed I had severe sleep apnea. I got fitted with mask and bipap machine and promptly slept like crap the first night. However, a adjusted the mask and gave it another shot and have not had another poor night of sleep since. 6 hours now is better than 9-10 before and I don't fall asleep at work or watching TV. In short, the sleep study where I barely slept was good enough for a diagnosis. Good luck!

Good information from all of you! Thanks for sharing the good and bad.

Mine was set for July 21 and I was prepared for that. But following a cancellation mine is now June 20 and now I'm quite anxious about it. Good luck and perhaps we will have great progress reports this time next year.

June 20 here too. Good luck!

Any other June sleevers?
TheYapper replied to Laura Clemens's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was a July sleever but an opening advanced me to June 20. Wasn't anxious before, but moving it up a month sure changed that. Good luck with everything and I wish you nothing but success in your journey to a better quality of life. -
June - July sleevers?
TheYapper replied to betterme38's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good luck! I self-payed, so not dealing with insurance has been a blessing...well, other than writing that check. That hurt. -
