Lap Band Journey Came to Screeching Halt Today!

PB, Find a new doc!!! This dr sounds like he wants to string you along for more $$$. Afterall, when you lose your weight and don't have any bad health issues, you won't need him much will you?? I have even heard of dr's putting their patients on phentermine instead of referring for wls, which I think is outrageous! That's a heart attack waiting to happen! Best of luck to you! Keep us posted! -
Congratulations Indiogirl.!!! Your hard work has paid off!! You are beautiful! Bask in your glow!!

I am a little confused about this stuck thing. When foods get's stuck is it in your esophagus and why when the band is around the top of your stomach???:cursing: I know how to avoid it and it doesn't happen to me very often, actualy not at all until my 2nd fill recently.

Thank you! I will read it. Have a great night.

Hi Saddie, The port is stitched to your abdomen muscle. Did you do something that caused it to move? Ouch! Yes, you need to breathe freely. I think that I heard that sometimes they do have to go in and fix ports but that it isn't a big deal. It is another surgery though. I would contact your Dr. asap and get into have it checked out. Good luck to you!

Mollymolly, Can you really tell them how much to fill your band with? My Dr. told me how much he put in for the first fill but he wouldn't tell me on the 2nd just that he put alot more in than the first time!

I am just curious, at how many days or weeks does everyone's fills kick in? Can it be different every time? Why does it take weeks sometime to feel a fill? Does it take that long for the saline to go through the tube?

Hi all, I had my 2nd fill last Thursday late afternoon. I have no idea how much the doc put in the band but he said he put a lot more than the first which was 1.5 cc's. I felt fine until today, I have had a few dizzy spells. They were strong enough for me to have to sit down and wait them out for awhile. Has anyone else experienced this after a fill? I definetly feel a little more restriction but I am eating ok. Any insight on this would be appreciated. Have a great weekend everyone!!

Thank you Kat, you have given me hope!!!!

I live in the northwest valley (Glendale) You have done great with your weight loss! Have fun in Mesa!

Good for you!!! I get my 2nd fill tomorrow and really hope it gives me some restriction. Other than my scar I don't feel like anything was done!

I am getting my second fill tomorrow. Does it get better from here on out because I don't feel like the first one did much of anything? Please let me know how people did with their 2nd versus their 1rst.

Wow! That is a long time to wait. Your weight loss is very good so far! I gained 3 lbs between my post op visit and my first fill and my dr said "yep, it's time for a fill." I agree that it is important that we need to know how to eat correctly with the band but, didn't you go through a nutrition class prior to surgery? I am self-pay so if my dr told me no fill I would be pretty upset. Don't get too discouraged though, you have lost a lot of weight and so when you do get your first fill, you will really be on your way!! :rolleyes2:

:redface:My doc told me that chronic overeating will stretch the pouch. I overate one time and I felt so sick that I will never do that again. If you can only eat 1 cup of food, I would say you are doing good. I usually eat 1 1/2 cups of food and I am still hungry. I have only had 1 fill 1.5 cc's in my ab band. My fill was on 4/3 and I am just now starting to feel a tiny little bit of restriction. I can't wait to get my next fill.
