  1. I'm about 7 weeks out. I tried tuna and put in low fat mayo, small amt of dill pickle relish and tiny chopped onions. Threw it right up and even saw small amounts of blood. I'm sure the mayo and pickles hate me right now... I also can't drink Protein shakes. Not premade or a high quality powder. Tried $300 worth of different ones. HATE THEM ALL. can't even swallow them. It's too bad I hate yogurt and fresh fish too. Ugh. I'm a mess Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using the BariatricPal App

Day 5 of pre-op and I miss food.

I've noticed that quite a few people have to do a pre-op diet. I didn't. I ate regular meals all the way up to 12am the day of my surgery. I'm wondering why? I was about 280 lbs the day I had surgery, so no lightweight Sent from my SM-G935V using the BariatricPal App

    How do you tell people....

I also put that i was having surgery on FB. My sister updated the posts constantly while I was in the hospital because everyone wanted updates. I actually felt so much love. Now, I am also a woman that was clearly a BBW that dated WAY too much and I never cared what anyone thought as long as I was safe....so I'm probably less likely to care that anyone thinks the surgery was a cop out. My best friend was the only person who truly felt I could do it without surgery but I think she was just upset she might lose her lunch/dinner buddy. Lol. She knows my views and is even considering WLS herself now. Sent from my SM-G935V using the BariatricPal App

    How do you tell people....

I'm actually very surprised with how many people are honestly interested in the procedure themselves. They ask me questions for themselves and their loved ones. I'm more than happy to tell them the good and bad that comes along with surgery. Sent from my SM-G935V using the BariatricPal App

    Pre op tests?

Mine was done in the doctors office. He had blood work done and an Electrocardiogram done. I was in and out within 30 min. Sent from my SM-G935V using the BariatricPal App

    Insurance will not cover

I can't tell you how relieved I was to find out my 20 yr old stomach staples were mangled. Apparently it has saved me a ton of money. But...thinking back he was willing to give a huge discount even if I was approved by insurance for hernia surgery. That was covered. So was my gall bladder. Insurance will not cover

I also didn't have an insurance that would cover WLS. I did have a hernia and gallstones I didn't realize I had so I was able to pay for the gastric bypass when repair was made. Cost $4000 out of my pocket total. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using the BariatricPal App

    Anyone From Texas?

That's great! Congratulations. I was wondering if there is a general rule of thumb for determining when I should get a tummy tuck myself. All my weight is carried in the middle area. (Imagine an olive on the toothpick) lol. I'm in the 250s currently. How small do I need to get for them to do it? Any insight is helpful. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using the BariatricPal App

    Anyone From Texas?

Hi everyone. I had my surgery on April 6th with Dr. Nowzaradan (from my 600 lb life). I really do like him and he did a great job. I gained 10.5 lbs the 4 days I was in the hospital but I'm down about 32 lbs since getting home. I live in the Atascocita/Humble area of Houston.
