Stall, plateau or new set point?
jab2898 replied to jab2898's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thanks for the replies and I love that article! I do feel myself reverting to some of the crazy making behaviors I had before surgery in order to try and get the scale to move. Maybe I'm better off trying to enjoy the new body I already have and try something new that I wouldn't have tried before surgery? I also made an appt with my nutritional counselor to talk through my meal planning. Thanks so much guys! -
I had sleeve surgery on 4/25/16 so I'm only 12 1/2 weeks out. I lost 12 pounds before surgery and bmi was right at 40 when I had surgery. I lost 34 pounds quickly post surgery. I would still like to lose about 30-40 more pounds. However, I haven't lost AT ALL since July 1. I know I've read about stalls and I was ok with it for about the first week but I am getting worried that I am not doing something right. Mostly I'm afraid I'm at a new set point and my body just doesn't want to lose anymore. I have upped my exercise, tried different exercise, eaten less calories, eaten more calories, upped my Protein intake from 60 grams a day to 90 to 100 a day and still the scale won't move. I'm not sure that I have seen a change in how my clothes fit either. Is this normal???? How long do stalls last? How do you stay encouraged during a stall? How many calories should I be eating at this point? The doctor said I should be at around 800 calories a day. I have been tracking my intake and I get 800-900 a day. I could really use advice!

I had nausea and vomiting the first 3 days in the hospital and ended up spending an extra night. I think I was asking myself what I had done at that point as well. The doctor kept telling me it was all normal. I am 5 weeks out now and can say it gets better after that initial few days. Just try and do what the hospital staff ask, communicate with them and ask them to treat the nausea aggressively and it will get better!

Post op misery

I had my sleeve 4/25 and was pretty miserable the first few days. Yes, I had a heavy feeling in the middle of my chest when I tried to drink or eat but that seems to be better. I stayed an extra night in the hospital due to bad nausea and vomiting and I'm glad I did. I've been home since yesterday afternoon. It is still very hard to get all the requirements in and my innards gurgle a lot when I eat but I feel a lot better, pain and nausea under very good control. I'm hoping next week is even better. I found if I moved around a bit/rocked back and forth the heavy feeling in my chest kind of got better. Hope you are feeling better soon!
