So I used to always take Alka Seltzer when I was sick in the past.. but now after my bypass I don't know if I should take it since it's fizzy? Anybody have suggestions on what to take for a chest/head cold now?

No, don't worry yet.. I was 9 days out.. you are not eating much of anything so there's nothing in there to move.. after I drank the Protein Shakes I went. Good luck

You won't want to gulp. As time goes on you will see you can drink pretty normally

I only like Water when it's really cold and really hot out.. I put crystal light packs in mine, or Propel packs.. I buy Vitamin Water and Powerade Zero! Good luck

So I think I saw this topic before but I couldn't find it again.. So, I am 31 and have lost 78 lbs so far and have about 28 to go to hit my goal weight. I am a very happy, go-lucky person and haven't been in a relationship for about 7 years. I have been thinking about trying to put myself out there in the dating scene again but I'm not sure how I would bring up the bypass topic. For instance, if I was going to go out to dinner on a date, do I tell him why I would only eat a few bites, or how have others handled that? Do you tell them up front that you've had it, or wait for a time for it to come up?

Thank you all for your kind words and advise! I really like this gym, and there are a variety of different levels of people there, I guess I just need to worry about myself and keep hitting it

I have lost 77 lbs in about 7 month, I started out at 267. So now that the semester has changed I have started going to the gym 3 days a week.. but I feel like everyone looks at me like the fat girl who won't be there after a week or 2. I just go in anyways and do my workouts, but it makes me uncomfortable.. anyone else have feelings like this?

I had 2 glasses of wine last weekend and I'm almost 6 months post op.. didn't bother me at all. I seemed to be pretty tipsy quickly though, but I also sobered up quickly.

I started out telling on immediate family, but then closer to my surgery I told more people and the girls at work.. everyone has been super supportive and it's nice that I can just be truthful about it.. it was my choice, and I'm happy with it.. good luck

When I started my 6 months pre op diet and all my testing I didn't tell anyone except my immediate family.. after I got my approval I told most of my family, then I told the girls at work.. most people I talk to on a regular basis know, and have been supportive. I figured that if they don't support it or like it then they can think whatever they would like, it was my choice and I am happy with it! Good luck

So far I have got clothes at Goodwills and some thrift stores..I did find a few things at wal-mart.. I love Maurice's but until I get toward my goal weight I'm not going to spend a lot of clothes that won't fit in a few months..

They put one in when I was in surgery and I had it for the first day of recovery then they took it out.. I had to get up and walk so I was glad to be rid of it, but it didn't hurt at all to have it removed.

I didn't have to loose a certain amount, I was just not supposed to gain.. I lost 16 lbs over my 6 month visits

So I am about 5 months post op, I've lost 67lbs.. well I went to a spaghetti benefit dinner for a friends mom today. I wanted to go and show my support and make my donation, but couldn't eat the spaghetti. What was awkward was after I sat down, and the people around me noticed I wasn't eating, even though some people were already done.. so it's not like I was the only one not eating.. anyways.. like 4 people asked me why aren't you eating? I just said oh I'm okay.. and they just sort of looked at me.. I don't feel like I should have to tell every acquaintance my story and why I'm not eating spaghetti and cake? Idk what else to say in a situation like that..

Only things I used in the hospital was my own pillow, a nightgown, and my phone and headphones.. have comfy clothes to ride home in and use your pillow to hold against your stomach

It was about 9 days after my surgery.. I had trouble with that for a solid month after.. I take a stool softener every few days and Fiber everyday and I'm good to go! Good luck

When, if ever, do you stop feeling like a fat person?

I can relate.. nearly one year out and 95 lbs gone. People say you look great, you don't need to lose anymore. Someone told me the other day, "wow you are really skinny now", I don't even know how to reply, I just say thanks but still think I'm the fat girl. My mom told me that I don't see myself like I am now Bc I saw myself much bigger for so long.
