That's a pretty broad statement that they feel they can speak for the entire patient population that has had the band. They don't even know me or my history. It sounds more like they didn't want to admit they did so many lap band surgeries that weren't considered 'successful'. What sort of office admits to not wanting to provide continuing after care [emoji28] Sent from my SM-G920T1 using BariatricPal mobile app

Because you can get surgery to loose weight but it's no guarantee that it will fix a jerk.

Hi Justin, I can understand your apprehension. I am going through the same thing. What I keep coming back to is that I have lost 100 pounds more than once. Keeping it off is another component that I haven't mastered. Either I suffer from increasing comorbidities or I decide on a tool that will be another component in helping me loose and keep it off. Can I ask, when you say still having trouble with water and vitamins, do you mean changing your routine to accommodate them or do you mean, literally your stomach is having a hard time keeping them down? -

weed smoker about to get bypass

For any others who may search for weed or cannabis plus bariatric surgery there are a few more points to consider. Coughing after surgery is painful. When I had my gastric band it was painful to cough for awhile afterwards. If you decide to use again, take very small green hits from clean accessories and don't hold it in. Speaking of clean, be very careful with the quality of your flowers and accessories. It can be easy to introduce a bacterial or fungal infection into your body from tainted products. And also speaking of coughing, it very likely will make you barf post op. At least in the beginning. A form of edible to try that may be more advantageous to you would be a mouth spray or tinture. The THC is absorbed through the mouth rather than the small intestine where edibles like baked goods, candies or soda is absorbed. While cannabis may aid in physically healing, it may disconnect you from the psychological healing. Post op is the time when you are learning your new stomach and digestive symptoms as well as reshaping your approach to food. You will want to be paying very close attention so that you can get the most out of the post op honeymoon phase and be as healthy as possible. And lastly, because of the disconnect in Federal verses State laws, if you need pain meds for any significant amount of time, be prepared to hear from the doctor that you will need to start piss testing clean from cannabis or they won't perscribe anything for you. (I am a national advocate for cannabis and travel to DC once a year to lobby for safe access policies) Sent from my SM-G920T1 using BariatricPal mobile app -

Dr. Ashley Vernon is ranked as one of the top laproscopic surgens in the US. She did my lao band but also saved my life by diagnosing a complicated and life threatening gallbladder disease I had. Sent from my SM-G920T1 using BariatricPal mobile app -
Hello & beginning my revision journey
Star Dust posted a topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Hi everyone, I thought I'd introduce myself. My lapand was placed in 2006 at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston. I had my lapband removed in June of 2016 at Kaiser in South Sacramento, California. After then gaining about 40 lbs along with some severe back issues, I have reached back out to Kaiser's Bariatric department about revision surgery. In particular RNY. My timeline so far is interesting. I emailed my doctor on 9/20/2017 about referring me to the Bariatric dept for revision surgery. She emailed back and said I didn't need a referral. On 9/21 I called Bariatrics. They pull up my file and leave a message for the nurse to call me to decide if I need to start at step 1 or somewhere else along the process. On 9/22 I get a call from the nurse and she reviews a few points and says she will be calling over to my surgeon to see where he wants me to start in this process. On 9/22 in the late afternoon I get a call to inform me I have a phone appt. with my surgeon on 10/5!! So... Who knows how long this process will take for me, however I am not wasting any time. I'm already making changes to my diet and routine while absorbing as much information as possible. I lost my gallbladder after loosing 100 pounds with exercise and diet alone. It was a rough experience and I'll be asking my doctor how the modification to my small intestine will be effected from the bile the drips into it because of organ removal. Thanks so much for reading this far [emoji4] I am looking forward to learning from everyone elses experience. Sent from my SM-G920T1 using BariatricPal mobile app -
Trying to decide if I should just remove my band, or convert
Star Dust replied to loridee11's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I really really needed to hear this. The food getting stuck issue was such a hurdle for me with the lap band and I worried a lot about chocking in my sleep or while driving. -
What made you choose RNY over the sleeve?
Star Dust replied to jrsone's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
First it was hearing so many people talk about GERD and the second was that it seems to be what's recommended for revisions. I have a phone appt with my doctor next week tor our first chat about this. -
I echo this!!
