Tpagern, How did it go at the bank? Are you going to get all your money back? They must have used it as a credit transaction instead of a debit, right? Because they wouldn't know your pin. I think they should have you put your own pin in every time. My son uses his everywhere and he says sometimes it does not prompt him to put in his pin. How did they copy it? I may not understand that term. Let us know how things go with it. I have never met you but it really makes me mad that someone abused you, and your hard earned money like that. I think we are all friends here and feel the same way. That's when you wish you only had 10 bucks in your account. I hope you recover the money. Glo look at you, 35 lbs down! Susan, only 26 lbs. to go!! Wait for me!!! Just kidding..LOL

Marchies in Nov. (The Month of The Turkey)
Sugarbear replied to Jeni 85's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hello all, and Happy Thanksgiving! Haven't posted here in quite a while. I was banded on 3/7/07. Haven't lost too much but I think all that might change now. I got a fill almost two weeks ago and for the first time I have got definite restriction. Maybe too much, but I am going to try stick it out a while longer. This fill is giving the portion control that I have so desperately needed. It sounds like most everyone is doing well. I hope I am going to fall in there with you guys now too. Half the weight I lost was preband diet. Maybe now I can get this show on your road. Everyone take care. -
Well pooey. Somehow I was still on page 100 when I read all that and responded. Now I see on this page I missed some info. Glad everything went well. Is the 10th a follow-up or is it already a secheduled visit? TP, did you cancel that card and get a new one? How awful! Does a debit card have insurance? How did they "copy" it? I'm kinda slooowww about that stuff. I just started using one a few months ago. Is it better to use it like a debit, or like a credit card. Someone told me if you forget your pin they will do it like a credit card. What can you do about it? Will you get your money back and how did they know your pin#? I am so sorry about this. I know that was your hard earned money. Some people just don't have a concience. I wish they could put a red flag on that card as stolen, so when they use it they could be arrested on the spot. Take care.

Lo2us, the 10th! Why so long?? Pooey! Well I have joined you in the "tight department." This is a first for me. I have only pb'd once or twice till I got this fill. Now it's every day. Just have to learn to work with it. Eating two or three tiny bites of food is not my norm. I tried to eat an egg this a.m. Second bite, sat there for awhile and of course a trip to the bathroom. I did eat a serving of green beans yesterday that went down well. So now I can add green beans to my band-friendly list. It will be two weeks Mon. since the fill. I guess it is going to stay with me, ya think? I should definitely lose some weight if I keep eating like this. I guess I won't have to worry about eating too much Thanksgiving dinner today, huh? What will you do on the 10th? Go to Wadley for the upper GI or what? Does Dr. H do that or just someone at the hospital? I did one one time and I think the radiologist did it. I am glad you are getting checked out. As SOON as your home from that get online and let us know something. You know I have that "mother-hen syndrome." I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving! Let's all take time today and count our blessings. Keep everyone on the road in your prayers too.

Supper didn't go to well.:cry I was soooo hungry,:hungry: and a ate a couple bites too many.:faint: Got to get better at this. Just what exactly is all that that you can just lean over and get rid of?:guess It doesn't look like my food. I know too gross. :omg: Sorry. DH is cleaning fish right now, sooo, I guess tomorrow night I'll try baked fish.:paranoid I can't live on oatmeal and soup forever, can I?:rolleyes
-
Hope the fill goes well lo2us. I found out this morning I can't have my favorite cereal. "Great Grains." A favorite high fiber food. Oh well. Sacrifices...... I had a little oatmeal this a.m. and maybe a cup of soup at lunch. Going to try pot-pie at supper. It has been one week today since the fill. I feel like I am starting out new! Have to be very careful. Slow seems to be the name of the game, itty bites too. You are so right Lisa. All that will be traveling, be xtra carefull!
-
Oh, sorry for the double post but i talked to Deb the nurse today and found out that my band is a 10cm band which is the medium band. Also I have 3 cc's in it. I had it calculated as 3.2 before this fill. I notice that happens with others too. I think from now on I will ask for the total after my fills. I don't care how much I get at a time.
-
It won't gross me out! What I see on me grosses me out! I think most insurances pay for the panniculectomy, better know as the "apron." The big hangover. Some have medical problems with that, circulation, infections in the crease, ect. If you don't mind me asking, who did your surgery? Was it out patient? I am wondering how many have had cosmetic surgery? I am not sure how long they have been doing lapband here. So I figure those surgeries will be picking up in a year or two. I hope I can do that when the time comes. Arms, eyes and neck would be nice too. lol I can hardly wait to see your pics.

Hello all. Yea....Mizboo. I am so happy for you! I would love to have that done when all this is over, if I lose all the weight, that is. I still have lots of restriction. Haven't been able to eat any meat, that's okay. I was surprised when I made some thin oatmeal and couldn't eat but a few teaspoons this a.m. and then had to PB?? I did manage to eat about a 1/2 cup of squash casserole at lunch. Maybe now I will lose some weight and get this show on the road. YEA!!! Whatcha think Lisa? I really miss Vlynn, how do I look at her profile and see if she has an email posted? How are you doing with your fill Susan? My next appt is 12/31. How about you? Everybody have a good weekend!!!! Arkie, glad to hear from you too. Eat slow and chew well. Let us know as soon as you hear anything. I have had my gallbladder out. Don't miss it one bit either!!
-
Mizboo, sorry I guess I missed about you having surgery. Hope everything went well. I have been out of the loop lately. Maybe things will get back to normal (whatever that is) around here where I can keep up better. Lisa I am still tight today but not like yesterday. Hope I don't lose anymore. Had a little bit of beef stroganoff for lunch, picked out some of the meat. Had some oatmeal and NO toast for breakfast. Went down much better than yesterday. lol. But have been bad this evening. DH is working late, I am starving, going to have late supper and ate some Pringles to tide me over.ARGGGGG! Shame on me! Why did I do that?

Good morning everyone! I got back Sunday but just haven't had time to sit at the computer. Went to Texarkana twice Monday, Dr. K for a fill and then back to the meeting.that night, had to work Tues. all day. I got to meet Susan Mon. at PS. I thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Just wish it could have been longer. I hope we get to meet again. I guess my blood pressure is comming down. I had a little episode of dizziness while I was on the table after my fill. Thought I may have sat up too quick but it happened twice, thought I was going to fall off of it. That would have been a sight! My blood pressure was lower than usual so I am going to cut my meds in half. Going by my PCP office today and get it checked. I guess I better start monitoring it. I would love to get off the meds like Lo2us. Oh, I know what it feels like to be "tight" finally. Tues. I tried eating some oatmeal and toast. Took about three bites of oatmeal and one bite of toast (one too many), got stuck, got sick. Dr. K said she was going to be a little more aggressive with the fill since I am still having hunger problems. I hope this stays with me. I think this fill is really going to help me with portion control, which is what I really need and want. I've babbled too long, sorry, just trying to get caught up. Lisa....Now really.....Susan seems like such a sweet person..LOL

The second Mon. night for the Texarkana group. That should be the 12th unless they change something. Always check noscales.com I am on vacation right now and have access to a computer for the moment so I thought I would check in with everyone. Hope everyone is doing good. I go back on the 12th for a fill and and the meeting should be that night. Have to make a return trip for that. I will check on the noscales site to be sure about it. Take care all.

Wannabethin, you look GRRRRREAT! You have come this far, I have a feeling you will do just fine for the rest. I wish I was as far as you. You are one of those inspirations that help us slow losers to keep plugging away. I guess you noticed how well many are doing. Stay in touch, we have missed you. Lisa, I lost Sunshines email. Haven't heard from her. Have you? You are doing so well with your weight, I have a feeling you will dig pretty deep to find the "will power." Dig Lisa Dig!!! You can do it! Everyone have a good weekend!

Grandson got to see doctor yesterday and the she said the knot is a swollen gland. Odd place. The "rash" left by the time he saw the doctor, so couldn't check that. Anyway he seems to be fine now. Thanks about the advice for the clinics. I will make note of that for future use. I will be leaving for vacation Sat. If I have access to a computer I will check in. Otherwise, it will be a week. Hope everyone keeps doing well. My friend that had Lapband in Dec. has lost nearly 90 pounds! I saw her last night and she looks wonderful! Take care everyone.

Susan, mine is at 8:30. There is a good chance we will meet. I will enjoy that. I went to the doc today and I can shuck the walker, and he said I can try a shoe instead of the Gait boot. I dug every right shoe out of my closet, I managed to stuff it into two. One hurt like heck, and the other is tolerable, (a tennis shoe). He said to try it at home first. I have. It feels like someone elses foot. My walk is something between pitiful and hillarious, but I'll take it. I hope it gets better by Sat. We're leaving for vacation. I know ya'll are sick of hearing about my broke leg/ankle. Lo2us, Sun. was grandsons B-day and we noticed a be knot on his neck. Later that night he broke out with what his parents thought was Chickenpox. A lot went away yesterday but is back today, only it is just redish, not like a pox mark. The knot is still there and kinda big. I am very worried about it. His doc was out of town, but is supposed to be here tomorrow. They are supposed to take him tomorrow if they can work him in. If not I am thinking about taking him to Texarkana. Who would you suggest that might see him? May have to take him to a walk-in clinic. Hate to, but guess it's better than nothing.

I couldn't get on this site either over the weekend. About the throwing up (virus) thing. I haven't had it and thank goodness I am not usually suseptable (sp) to it. I am a big sissy about throwing up. I still have some Phenergan from the LB surgery. It works great for me. Better than anything I have ever found. Of course if you can't keep it down, suppositeries would be the next best thing. I think they are by prescription. Wonder if we should have them on hand just in case. Susan, I have an appointment the 12th also. What time is yours? Mine is 8:30. Teresa, all that new stuff and people is stressful. I am sure it will calm down when you get all that newness under your belt. I think you are a special person to do what you do for a living. I think you will be fine with a little more time. We also have a support group meeting that night in Texarkana. It is the second Mon. I go back to see Dr. Hilborn tomorrow a.m. I am hoping he turns me loose to start walking. I have taken myself out of the chair and gone to a walker. I am being careful not to bear too much weight on it. My grandson turned 4 yesterday. Last night he started breaking out with what we think is chickenpox. I haven't seen him this morning but I am going to check on him after lunch. He didn't have a spot until late last night. He has a knot on his neck we noticed yesterday, towards the back but not on the back. Could that be something that comes with the pox? His doctor is on vacation til Wed. With the vaccine, most don't even get them. Poor little fella. Hope all you newbies are doing well. Let us hear from you.

Never heard this!!!???
Sugarbear replied to Imonmyway7368's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Imonmyway, I did not have a catheter for my surgery, nor did anyone else that I know that has been banded. The occasion that arises of not being able to pee after surgery is a not usually a problem. There are a select few that have that problem after any surgery. Most do not. Most lapband doctors offices have a nurse or a person that councels you through any doubts and questions you may have. Mine did. Call them so your mind can be put at ease. You need to be confident and have a positive attitude when going into this. I am sure you will do fine, but talk with your doctor, get the facts, and I think you will feel much better. Take care and good luck. -
Lo2us, if you are talking about a throwing up bug, better call the doc. Do you still have some Phenergan? You may have to go with whatever will stay down. Jello, Gatorade, crackers and maybe dry toast when your stomach feels more stable. Sure don't want to stay over the toilet, not good for the band. Yours maybe set in place pretty good by now but try not to do all that heaving if possible. Take care and hope you are feeling better soon. Lisa, what kinda cheating? Better be good, Susan might get you. LOL Teresa, new jobs are stressfull. New ways, new people, ect. Give yourself a little more time. I have a feeling you will be fine.
-
Welcome Viper. glad to have you aboard! NewJulie, so glad to hear from you and that you are doing fine. The blister may have been from an instrument but call anyway to be sure. Hang in there with the post-op diet, take it easy so you will heal well. Lynn, I have really missed you. I am so sorry about your grandmother. I hope your dad heals quickly from his surgery and hope whatever he had done was successful. All this and the beginning of a new school year, not counting doing for your girls. Whew! You are due a break! I hope things make a turn for the better and you get some relief! Glad you and Billy are doing so well with the weight losses. Glo sometimes it takes a while. Don't worry, you will get there. Everyone take care.
-
Minor Goal?!! 60 lbs. in four months! That's HUGE!!!!!!!!! YEA Shannon. Teresa, job sounds great! You are just now recovered from surgery. Be patient, get a few fills under your belt, then we'll see what happens. Getting healed up and now moving forward is the main thing. I definitely hope you move quicker than me, and most do, as you can tell by reading the thread here and elsewhere. Just give it some time. We are all impatient. After making the decision to make this big step, we all seem to want immediate results, including me. We didn't get this was very quickly and many of us won't get to the other end quickly either. Have faith, you will do great. Vent all you want, I sure do, don't I Lisa?!

Question about straining too hard
Sugarbear replied to ImaKaren4U's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Stool softeners and more fiber. Benefiber. Use regular too until you can get to a normal diet. That kinda pain....call the doctor to be safe. -
Thanks Susan for the reply. I just wondered about it. I can nearly eat a bear. I don't eat the amount I used to but sometimes I wonder if that is physical or mental. But I do get stuck occasionally and PB. Not often. Would I do that if I had a leak? Or a slow leak. You are the only one I know that has had a leak. Did that not show up when you were banded or did it develop later? Sorry so many questions. I believe someone told me they test the band for leaks before putting it on. Anyway I am glad you are doing good now. I was just hoping for more portion control by now. Just have to be patient. Guess the opening to my stomach may have been much smaller than my band. Which means it will take me longer to get proper restriction. I rather get to it that way than be too tight and possibly erode. Right? I think I will ask about that when I go back on the 12th.

Now that you are making healthier food choices, no salty pizza and fries, and not such fried greasy things, you will get used to drinking less. Still need lots of water, just not with or right before and after meals.

best way to lose 5% weight before surgery
Sugarbear replied to aimee's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Aimee, my doctor has his patients do a two week pre-op diet, liquid. Slimfast. (optima.) After the third day you may substitute a garden salad (only things grown from the earth) and FF dressing. You may have SF drinks SF jello, SF popcicles, any SFliquid. Nothing else, no solids with the exception of the small salad once daily. I lost about 17 lbs. in two weeks. Most everybody, IF they stick to it, loses at least 12-15 lbs. You have much longer, so you could lose it easily. Well, I mean by time. There was nothing easy about it for me, but I did it. It will help shrink your liver, which gives them more room to work. This is life changing, so it is a good time to push yourself and see how you do. You can do it.. -
Arkie, the meetings are the 1rst Mon. of the month at 7:00 for Texarkana. The last couple of months we have been having them at Wadley Hosp. You can always look on noscales.com Dr. H. usually post the meeting there. There are other things to read there too. Teresa, what kind of new job are you going to? Are you going to be one of those traveling nurses? Do you still do Hospice? I was thinking that is what you did. Congrats on the six weeks. Back to normal food, ect. Susan, what did it feel or not feel like to have a leak? Did you have to pay all over again to get your band replaced, or did they repair it? I have lost less than twenty pounds in 7 months. Just wondering....
