Lisa, glad m i l is better. What kind of surgery might she be facing? I may not have caught exactly what her problems were. Anyway hope it all works out well. I know how it is when there is illness in the family. Hippmom, you can whine on my shoulder anytime, of course I may return the favor..lol Congrats to everyone who is doing so well!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :clap2: For those of us who are struggling...HANG IN THERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I believe that Dr. K told me that they no longer do fills that were from Mexico surgeries. Liability I guess. But I think they do fills for people that move in from somewhere else in the U.S. Lo2us, glad to hear you are doing so well. Glad things are going down easier. I notice I am filling up quicker, maybe not quick enough but certainly better than before. Maybe next time will be my "sweet spot." I think you may have reached yours quickly. I guess your mom made it home ok ? You guys may have to get behind me with a whip and run it off me! Lisa, hope everthing is better with you mother-in-law. Let us know when you can.

Vlynn, good for you about the protein. No more than you could eat I was worried about your nutrition. Next time we eat, you can eat off my plate, you wouldn't make a dent in it anyway! lol. You can also get individual serving there instead of a plate. I almost always get the mini plate unless I don't see a meat dish I want. Then I just get me a couple of veggies. That is what I like best there. I noticed someone is trying to start a support group in OK, Tulsa I think. Don't know how far you are from there. I think PS has one in OK but forgot where. It is on the no scales site I think. They are changing our place for meetings but it wasn't posted the last time I looked. When do you have to start back to work? I guess that time is right around the corner. Hey, I love your truck! Meant to mention that before. We would love to have one of those. I have a Camry with 263,000 miles on it! Imagine that! Has anyone ever tried that Muscle Milk? Wonder if it is "good." Heard someone talking about it, not sure about the protein content ect. Guess we will have to chek it out too. What flavor of Myoplex did you get?

Sunlight, YEAAAAAAAAAAA! Glad everything went well. Now, the hard part....BE PATIENT..... Many of us didn't feel any different. So you are feeling "normal." It was my third fill before I got what I call restriction. Everyone is different. I now have my fourth, and I can tell I have more restriction. I feel things getting stuck now where as before that part was few and far between. I find myself having to be more careful of what and how much I swallow at a time. This is a first for that for me, but it still isn't like some describe it. Not like Vlynn. I was hoping for that this time. It is better so I don't want to complain. Did you make sure the size of your band and how much fill you got today? Just curious. Take care and try to make good food choices.

Khanson, when you eat your meals start with your protein. Also there are some ready to drink protein drinks that are high in proteins. Like Myoplex, it has 42 grams of protein. You can get it at Target, and maybe Walmart. Look around for the ones that are extremely high in protein. You can sip around on them, one or two a day. Look at a list of high protein foods that you can eat without having to eat big quanties, especially since you are not hungry. Hope this helps.

Hello Twinstwice. Glad things went okay for you. Where will get your follow-up care and fills? Just curious to know. All of us banded on this thread use the same doctors. Shannon, I am so proud of you. Look at that ticker go! I better get my butt in high gear if I am going to even be in the same league with you. Betty, I know tomorrow is your big day. Try to relax, everything should be fine. I am glad you are off your medicine. Try to find a couple of really low calorie Snacks and keep them available if you can't make it through the hungries. Get rid of any high calorie temptations. My son is home for the summer and that has been murder for me. We tend to cook and make his favorites. Lord help, it is so hard to break old habits!! I didn't lose a pound inbetween the last two drs. visits. POOEY!! Let us know how tomorrow goes as soon as possible. Vlynn did you do something to increase your Protein intake? Also check your fat intake. Too little isn't good either. I am so happy you are losing, but I want you to be healthy too. You will have to be in top shape for all those tricky teenagers. lol

Hi Lisa, those are your ticker instructions...I saved them from when you gave them to me. lol Vlynn, if you aren't getting enough food your body will go into a "I'm starving mode" and hang onto everything it gets. Mrs. Betty talked about that at the last meeting. Are you upping the protien. Remember the Myoplex like Lo2us uses. I am not losing either, but not due to the lack of food. I did get a fill Mon. I guess tomorrow when I go back to normal eating we'll see what happens. It is discouraging when you go six weeks and no WL. I am sure it is my own fault, poor food choices for the most part, not counting the amounts. Hope that gets better now. I wish a small band would have fit around my stomach. How do you think you're going to like the change in your teaching practice? All new lesson plans for sure, huh? Hi Betty, glad you are feeling better. Don't get discouraged, this takes a while to get leveled out. Longer for some than others. Always know you are moving forward. If one fill doesn't work there are many more to come. Be patient. I am still working on that one. lol. Shannon, hope everything is back to normal at your house. Hope Gus is back to sleeping. I missed you last Thurs. hope you can join us the next time we do it. We will have a new suppport meeting place. I haven't checked the noscales site yet but I may tonight or tomorrow. Susan, only 33 pounds to go!! Woohoo!! That must be a great feeling. Congrats!!

Cmoomoos Open two windows. In one window go to the ticker website and make your ticker. In your other window come to this site and go to your user "CP",(above the post, and to the left in the small blue bar. When you get there, on the left side of the page, click on edit signiture. When you get this done, go to the other window and RIGHT click on the picture of your ticker, and "copy" back to the "signiture window" and in the box that says "edit signiture." ( It will be under the Preview Box) and right click again in that box and Paste the ticker in that window. That should do it. I got these instructions from Lisa, and it worked for me. Seems like I had to do it twice but it finally took. lol. How are you doing??

Carol1951. You may be from the old school, "Clean Your Plate",as many of us are. How many times have we heard that? I guess we are going to have to use tablespoons to serve our plate with. Or teaspons. Then we can clean our plate, and not feel wasteful, or guilty about eating too much. You aren't crazy. I think many of us were taught not to be wasteful. That is a good thing. We are just going to have to learn to put very LITTLE on our plate. I have to work on that too. Along with a lifetime of poor eating habits, and choice of healthy food.

Hello everyone. I went to the doc this a.m. Didn't lose any weight this time:(. But, on the other hand, didn't gain any either. I got a fill .4cc. Dr. K is doing like Dr. H now, not doing the numbing. Ok by me. The fill stick isn't any worse than the numbing. Neither is bad to me. Next appt. will be 7 weeks instead of 6. Falls on Labor day. Oh I haven't been to the website yet but they put up a notice that our support meetings will be at a different place. Not the YWCA anymore. Lisa how are things going for you? Lo2us hope you can get Guss back in a routine. I raised three of those little boogers, that can be pretty tough sometimes. Every now and then I see on TV where people are having them by the "litters," I just don't think I could do that. How is your restriction comming along? Sunlight when is your fill? I got one today, hope this helps. Vlynn, Dr. K says lots of protien to help the hair. They are even selling supplements. I have been without AC:mad:, repairman is working on it right now. Spoiled to AC, It has been 2 days . Later.

    New band

Shatay, Welcome to Bandland. You were banded the same month as me. So I'm not an oldtimer bandster either. As long as I stay healthy and no band problems, I can only see things getting better. I am already off one medication, and hoping to shed another within a year. Even though I havent't lost too much weight very quickly I am still very optimistic. about my health, and my life as a mom, grandmother, and wife. Looking better, feeling better, and just getting around better has to be a move in the positive direction. I think you will find more self assurance as you move along this journey to a healthier you. I know I am.

Hello Kyethra. Sounds like you have had a time of it. I certainly hope things level out for you now. Wow! Have you ever lost the weight. Good for you, but sorry you had to be sick through so much of it. It should be smooth sailing for you for here on out. I mean, what else could go wrong? What does you hubby think about your new hair cut? With the weather getting so hot and humid now, (or it is where I live) you may enjoy the low maintenance. I bet it is cute. Are you still working? I haven't been to this thread in a while, looks like the weight loss is going well for many. Me? I am going to be a member of the slow losers club. I go for a fill Mon. my fourth. I am thinking this will be the one that will really help. I need help with portion control. Heres hoping. Glad you are doing better.

Sunlight, you are certainly normal. When do you go back to the doctor? I forgot. I go Mon. a.m. Anybody else going then? Anyway, you haven't done anything wrong. Just try and make good food choices, I know, easier said than done. I think we all have to be concious of that. We want to be healthier, not just thinner. I try to remind myself of that. If we eat all the wrong foods our weight loss journey will not be successful. You don't have any restriction at this time so you aren't going to feel much difference, if any. (Unless your band is snug around the stomach opening.) Everyones opening isn't the same, therefore the band is going to fit differently. Just like clothes, we might wear the same size, but it may fit me tighter, or looser than it does you. I know you are anxious for results, so am I, but we have to be patient, and behave(lol) until we get some restriction, then we have to depend on ourself to use our tool wisely. NOW, to follow my own advice! Take care .

vlynn and Sunlight, I certainly enjoyed meeting you both. I am happy to put a face with my new friends. Lynn I hope you made it hope in time to take care of Billy. I meant to thank you today for so much encouragement while I was "just getting started." I was such a weenie!! Look at your ticker!!! 72 POUNDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!! In 7 months. That's incredible. By the way, now that I have met you, I can say first hand, YOU LOOK TERRIFFIC!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think it will take me longer, but I hope I can share that much weight loss with you one day too. I will try to remember to ask about what there is to take for the hair thinning at my next doctors visit. (Monday.) Betty, you hang in there. We all go through Bandster Hell. Well most of us anyway. I think I stayed in it until my third fill.....LOL. I get my fourth Monday. I seriously think this one is going to be the biggest change for me. I think it is going to help me help myself. I just have to make good food choices. I am doing better. but still have so many weaknesses. But like they say we didn't get this way over night and we aren't going to get "thin" over night either. I have got a lifetime of poor eating habits to undo. I seldom have anything fried. Occasionally fish, or fries. Seldom sweets, and I have cut breads, which I dearly love, way back. At least it is a start, huh? Better go now. Ya'll take care.

Hi Hopefulchurch. We have been wondering how you are! Looks like you are doing good! Trina, that sounds just awful. Take it easy and heal. cowgirldreams, suppose you band has a leak? I have heard of that. I don't know who or where your doc is but I think I would have it checked for that. Just an idea. I never heard of a 5 cc band. What kind of band do you have? I heard of 4 and 10 and one larger. Inamed I believe is the name of mine. (10cc).

cmoomoos, that is great weight loss. When was it that you had your surgery? I wish you could come to lunch too. Maybe we will do it sometime on a Sat. maybe you will be off. Some of the ladies are school teachers that are on here, so we might have to do one on Sat. after school starts. We will try and work the times around where everyone has an opportunity to come. Do you go to the support meetings? They are on the second Monday of the month? I think several of us go but we don't know who is who when we get there. I know Lo2us, and LisaG. We met in the doctors office. Lo2us and I sit together at the support meetings. She had her surgery in June and is doing fantastic. Keep up the good work. Okay girls, oops, or guys. I will be wearing a black top and light color capris, and gray hair, lol, tomorrow at Bryces. If I have time I will stop and get a balloon. That way if we go in to eat and someone is late, they can spot our table by the balloon tied to a chair. Is that too corny?? Scratch that time thing, I'll make time. Looking forward to seeing all who can come. 11:30 tomorrow, Thurs. 19th, Bryces.

Cmoomoos, hi. Hate that your port turned. Wonder if they can turn it back how it is supposed to be? Sounds like you are making good progress. Do you know what size band you have? Just wondering. I didn't feel a thing on my first fill. I hope mine stays in where it is supposed to be. I guess if it changes with weightloss, you never know. Are you going to post a ticker? Oh, are you comming to Bryces Thursday? Would love to meet you. When you go to Wadley for the fill, do they charge the same or is it a lot more since they have to use the x-ray and all that? Sorry, I seem to be full of questions today. What's your loss so far?
  18. Hi. I am a 3/7/07 bandster. I have had three fills.(dates in sig). I didn't feel any restriction until my third fill. It isn't too much but I am aware of restriction. Still eat wayyyyyy too much. I go back for 4th fill the 23rd. I think that will be the one that might get me closer to my "sweet spot." I guess I am a member of the slow losers club that I have seen several post about. Just got to make better food choices. The portion control is what I am hoping to get control of. That has been a problem pre band as well as post band. I am worried that my pouch is stretched, but most say I would be sick if that was the case.? I have a 10cm band. Glad to see everyone is doing so well.

Hello all. I haven't posted on this thread in a while. I lost the thread for a while. Looks like everyone is doing really good. Look at you Tammyj!! Wow are you ever losing Congrats! Last time I saw you your hair was short. I am creeping right along. Go for 4th fill the 23rd. Haven't updated ticker in a while, Thought I would see what happens on the 23rd with the scale. Didn't have any restriction until 3rd fill. I think the fourth may get me close to the "sweet spot." Glad to see everyone doing so well.

Glad to hear all the success stories. It is very encouraging to some of us that aren't dropping the weight so fast. Glad to hear from you Mizboo. It's been awhile. Vlynn, bring the youngins, that will be fine. The more the merrier. Gotta go meet DH for lunch. Later.

Shannon, glad to hear things feel better. Do you know how much is in your band now? I have a feeling you will be dropping weight like crazy with all the restriction. Bring your mom if she wants to come Thurs. Are you still working on projects at your house? Sounds like a fun thing for you guys to do together. You will have to go and help her do hers now. LOL I would love to do some remodeling. My house desperately needs it, but I have to wait til I get my son out of college. "money, money, money." Take care. Susan, congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am excited for you. I hope to join you some day soon. Sunlight and Priss, you guys are doing good too. Sorry you can't come Priss, I was looking forward to meeting you. Texarkana Bandsters

Hi Shannon. To be honest I am not sure what you should do. I am not, nor have I ever been to the point of restriction that you have been and are in at this time. BUT...if it were me I would take it easy. Maybe today for lunch have some meat, even if it is only one or two bites, small ones at that, and see how you do. You are supposed to be able to eat at this point. You need to get the proper nutrition to stay healthy. Most people I have talked with, hardly notice anything on the first fill. (Like Dr. Heiker said). If you aren't feeling good about your diet, amount of intake, ect. call Monday a.m. or before if you really need to, and discuss this with the nurse. The 1/2 cup amt. was presented to me up front. I can't make it on that at this time. But it was my understanding that that was the amount of food intake from the get-go. No one ever told me a full cup like they did you. I am sorry to say, that I take in more than that. Of course that is my doing. I was hoping for better portion control, but I just don't have it at this time. Sometimes doctors are very busy and you just have to press them for a little more time if you need it. Write your questions and or concerns down and give it to them when you go see them. I don't think the doctor will mind. I don't know Dr. Heiker very well, only seen him once, but he answered my questions. Getting your first fill, was an anxious time for you. It is easy to see how you would be caught off guard. I am sure they go by how the majority feels on first the fill. But you were so tight to start with. Do you know how much they took back out? Heck, you may not even need any at this time. I am just sorry you have had a rough start. You should be comfortable, not in pain. I am not sure about Dr. H, but I know Dr. K is usually in on Mondays because that is when I get my fills. I only went on Tues. last time because they rescheduled me. You might even drop by there if you are in the area. Good luck. Has your mom left yet?

    Texarkana Bandsters

Hi Shannon. Sorry about how things went with the fill. I was wondering if you would even get one after you told me how you felt at the meeting. I am wondering if your band is, and or was, kind of a tight fit to start with? Where as some get 2 or 3 fills before they even notice a change. Like me. What did the doc say when you told him how you felt when you eat? Me? I don't feel that yet. More so since I had the third fill, but nothing like you. I truly wonder if my pouch is stretched out. I would think that your swelling from surgery would be gone by now, but everyone heals differently. Did he think you might still have swelling? Sorry, so many questions. Just curious. Is there a possibility your band was too small? Anyway one thing for sure, you won't need a bunch of fills, huh? When will you have to go back? I go the 23rd. Take care. How are you doing now? You will have to write a novel to answer all these questions. LOL
