Teresa, I plan on being at the next one too. I missed this one because of the leg thing. Lo2us and I usually sit together. You are welcome to sit with us. She will be the one with gorgeous curly brown hair, with an old grag hag sitting beside her(me). Your food is still on that sheet you were given, that's why it probably not mentioned. You are only 2 wks. post op. I think that sheet takes you through 5 weeks. Priss, you may need to get your blood checked and don't forget to monitor your blood pressure. I don't know if it was high to start with. Lo2us can tell you all about that. You might get some of those Protein bullets. Lo2us is real up on that too. Susan I did not get my fill, had to cancel but rescheduled for the 25th.I can't get around to cook yet and have friends brings food, which is a blessing for my husband. He will cook but I hate for him to if he doesn't have to. He works very hard and is sometimes late comming in from work. I am TRYING not to eat so much. I thought I would want to graze being laid up all day but to my surprise I am not eating between meals. I haven't done that in a long time but thought this might induce snacking. I go back to the surgeon Thurs. Hope my situation changes, just don't know. If he puts a cast on, wonder if I can put weight on it? Glad your knee is better. I know how painful the knee thing can be. Take care. Shannon, you okay? Gus okay? Hope you are just busy.

Hi Thj. I can't say too much about the first fill thing because I didn't feel anything. 2nd one either for that matter.I have heard some say they they feel different. Just do mushies today, I guess you did liquids the day of fill? If you continue to feel odd after a day or two, call PS and talk to the nurse. Won't hurt. Hi Lisa. I'm still just laid up here like a beached whale. Friends bringing food...and more food....... Notice you are only a pound and a half from your half-way mark! YEA LISA!!!!!!!!!Go girl go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello all. I am kinda slow getting to the computer today. Everything is slow right now. We are trying to get me something motorized to get around in. I simply can not hop on one leg everywhere. That leg wears out quickly. On top of that I am afraid I will get my knee messed up. My knees are so much better than a year ago. Virtually no problems at all. I noticed my knee was bothering me some last night and I thought oh no. They want me to use a walker. Scoot it out a couple of inches and then hop back up to it, over and over...... to get where I am going. I am going to let the nurse demonstrate it for about 20 minutes when I go Thurs. Maybe she will realize that isn't realistic! I am not 16 and 110 lbs, where I can keep up a hoping jag all day. What can they possibly be thinking? I got it... they think I'm a kangaroo!! TP.. Good for you! Walking is a fantastic choice. That is a double positive! Susan, sounds like you are doing good too. Hows your ankle? My time is still short a the computer. Take care everyone. Some of you that are fairly new to new, haven't heard from you much lately, how are you?? Please post.

Good to hear from you Sunlight. Yea, Betty..for your NSV!! You won't ever have to worry about that extension again. I really enjoyed your phone call. That was a real surprise. I go back for a fill the 25th. I missed my apt. because of this darn leg. I am wondering how in the world I will weigh. Don't think I can hop up on the scale. lol Maybe by then I can put some weight on this leg. Never broke a leg before. Does anyone know how long it will be before I can put my weight on it? I am so darn heavy, that may make a difference on when I can step on it?? I think I am a pretty good cheerleader for my friends, but I am certainly not a good example to follow. My ticker shows that. I am hoping it is due to the amount of restriction I have, or don't have. I am 6 months out and not much to show for it. I am very happy for those that it is working so well for. So keep it going guys.

    Marchies in September!!

Hello Marchies. Haven't posted here in a while, but looks like everone is doing well. I had an accident 2 weeks ago. Fell on some slick steps, broke my leg pretty badly, had surgery, been laid up ever since. Can't put ANY weight on my leg yet. This is getting really old. I go back to the surgeon Thurs. hopefully he will cast it and I can get on the road to recovery. Not losing any weight either, but I had to reschedule my appt. for my fill, due to the leg thing. Hopefully the next fill will be "it." Take care everyone.

Tpagern, you bet it is hard, but you have come so far now, it's almost over. Really. Have you tried munching on some sf popcicles? It's a liquid but yet you get to chew it. Fruit smoothies are pretty filling. You can do those at home with your favorite stuff in it. Bannas, strawberries, ect. Anything that will pulverize in a blender. Have a good blender. You would be amazed what you can put in there that comes out very thin. You can add milk, broth or water to thin things. Don't be overly concerned with weight at this point. You are limited for food intake, and you need to heal. Now, that doesn't mean ice cream 24/7 lol. Try to include lots of protein, it helps the hungries. You have almost got this licked. Have some thin potato (homemade) soup. Just thin cream potatoes. Those help me a lot. I even melted a little cheese in mine. Lynn, glad to see you and Billy are doing so well. I guess if you read a few pages back you know about my accident. Haven't been on here as much since that. I'm sure I will get back to normal soon. Hi Lisa. DH took me to get a hair cut and we decided to eat lunch out while we were at it . I did love getting out but it was very painful on the leg. Hard to be out and get it elevated to the right hight. Doubt I'll do that again til I go to the doctor Thurs. Hopefully everything will be as it should and I can get this thing casted and on the road to recovery. I guess that is what it takes? Not sure. I am hoping this isn't going to be a long drawn out thing because I am a "little" older. lol By-the-way, don't anyone slip and break anything after a rain. No ones liability has to help you because it is an "Act of God."

Thj, glad to hear you are okay, and hanging in there. Tpagern, this stage will be over before you know it. Well maybe not that quick, but soon anyway. Anything is better than the pre-op in my opinion. Cream potatoes, yogurts, and eggs never tasted so good! Soft cooked veggies if you are a veggie eater (chewed well). I think the real stuff starts the 5th week? Anything pulverized, or chewed to a puree will go for mushies. Lots of sf drinks in different flavors help pass the day too. High protein helps stave off the hunger. LOTS of protein. You have taken all the first steps to being a more secure person. Look at all you have done for yourself! That takes courage! Go for long walks, and hop on that bike (after dark if that makes you feel better) All this exercise will cut your time nearly in half to reach your goals. I think you are going to be surprised how much easier things are going to get each month. YOU CAN DO IT!! Where is Lo2us?? Are you okay? Lisa, would you mind sharing some of that determination with us? We all need a dose every now and then.

Lisa and Glo, congrats on the weight losses! I have been out of the loop since my accident. I am going back and reading all the posts. I usually try to keep up with everyone. Had a wonderful surprise today. Sunlight got on (during her vacation) and saw where I had broke my leg. She hunted in her wallet to see if she still had my phone#, she did, and called to see how I was. That was such a nice surprise! Yes, it was very nice of Dr. Hekier to send me well wishes. I emailed Betty today, but I am not sure if she has left for her vacation yet. I got a new password for the blog thing, and it finally worked. Thanks Lisa. How did the meeting go Lo2us? Did you wear your pin today??? Lisa, I did have an appointment yesterday, but had to cancel. I go back the 25th to see Dr. H for a fill. I could just cry but I just couldn't make it. Maybe if he lets me have a cast on the 20th when I go back, I'll be up and running. This thing has just got to get better. I can't stand this laying up!! Take care everyone. Keep those tickers moving!!!

Tried to sign up for the contest again, no dice. I did it last month with no problem. I wonder if I had to register and use a different password or something? Says my password is invalid. Thought it was the same as what I use on here. hmmmm. It doesn't ask for me to send for it If I don't remember it. Can't figure it out. Lisa, got any ideas?

I am trying to post on the blog for the contest but it won't publish my comment? Wonder if I am doing something wrong. First it said invalid password, now it just doesn't publish it. I'll start over and try again later. Dr. Hekier, thank you and everyone else for the well wishes. I know there are lots of people with worse injuries than mine to complain about. Feel guilty about the whining. I guess I am a weenie, but I am ready for a break from this constant pain. I am basically a well person. I love caring for others but I am not good on the other end of the spectrum. Shannon, did you tell everyone at the meeting about the wedding dress? How awesome! Maybe you will win the gift certificate and you, Gus and dh can go out and celebrate! Did you heare me clapping and hollering for you? I started about 7:45.

Shannon, I was sooooooooo looking forward to seeing you get your pin tonight! I wanted to Hoot n Hollar for you. Really embarrass you. lol. Is your husband going to be there? My leg is so bad right now, I doubt I will make it. My dh said he would bring me if he can get off work in time. He knows I wanted to see you get your pin. If I don't make it, know I will be there in thought. If you listen....you'll hear me clapping and hollering for you. I don't go back to the doctor til the 20th to see if they can even cast it. In the mean time I have to keep it elevated, can't even touch my toe to the floor. This SUCKS!!!! You nurses on here...when is this thing going to get better?? Had surgery Wed. Screws on both sides, and plates on one side. Everything looks like it is in the same direction now too. Wed. my foot pointed one direction and my leg the other. The paramedics said the bone was nearly through the skin. Looked like a big elbow sticking out of my leg under the skin. Real deformed looking. Ugly. Glad everything is going the same direction now. Made me kinda queasy to look at it. Take care everyone. Don't break your leg!

I will try this once more. Lost two post. At courthouse Wed. been raining, steps wet, foot slipped I guess? Fell, fell broke my leg.. bad I think. Leg pointing one way, foot opposite direction. Had surgery Wed. night, came home Fri. evening. In lots of pain. Can't sit at computer long. Sorry I am whiny. Maybe tomorrow will be better. Take care all you new bandsters. Later

Thank you Lisa for being our "Ticker Master." ALSO ...Did everyone notice how nice Lisa is being to poor Susan who fell and twisted her knee? I think there must is something else in that Biotin she's taking!? What ya'll think about that? Did Betty leave for her trip yet? Wonder how the plane ride went? Haven't heard anything on the new about a passenger, foaming or sliming at the mouth have ya? For those newcomers that don't know Betty(Sunlight), you'll have to read back a few pages. Hope everyone had a good holiday. Anyone else have an appointment Mon. a.m.?

Susan.....Susan.....Susannnnnnnnnnnnnn. What in the world are we going to do with you????? Ice-packing should get some of that swelling out, hope you did a lot of that to begin with. Of course with company comming you probably didn't have too much time for propping up your leg either? I hope it's better and you are able to enjoy your weekend with your family. Hope everyone enjoys their Labor Day weekend.

Lo2us, might better call em. Wouldn't hurt. They may cut you back to mushies or liquids for a day or two. My band has never been as tight as yours, even with 4 fills. I guess mine is just going to be difficult. This works for nearly everyone, I think I may falling into the other category. I will talk to Dr. K about it when I see her on the 10th. Take care. I wanted this to go smoother for you. Look at that ticker go! I may not even recognize you at the next meeting! How's little Gus doing? Anymore successes on the potty?

Hi all. Crappy day. 3 yrs ago today my son was in an accident. He is alive and well, and I AM gratefull. But can't minimize the situation he is in today. A paraplegic at 26 yrs, of age, or how we feel about it. Don't mean to wine. I'll be better tomorrow, better close.

Good morning Glo. You got through the IV at the hospital. This will be absolutely nothing like that. I am a SISSY about needles. I don't mind the fill at all. Have to admit I was nervous the first time too. I heard...it's only a little stick...doesn't hurt a bit.....YEAH RIGHT!! Well I have to tell you everyone was right. Now, my port is where it is supposed to be and they had no trouble finding it ect. For those that have ports out of place, flipped, or twisted, or whatever some do, may have trouble, I am not sure. But as a rule everyone on here hasn't had a problem. I have had both docs do it too. That's my experience. So try to relax when they do it, that probably helps too. I know, easier said than done. We'll all be rootin for ya. Just close your eyes and pretend we are all there holding your hand. We will be in spirit, just not physically there. Hang in there.

Mpalen, we all do that from time to time. I am not losing period, so I tend to eat whatever. No, it doesn't make sense, but sometimes we just don't do what we know is best. OMGosh, we must be human!!lol. Just try to get back on track, start fresh, and you will do fine. Take care.

Lo2, what all is the Biotin for? What did Dr. H say about you being so tired that day you went to get your fill? Do you still take the multi vitiman? As hard as you work at getting protein, I would think you get enough. How many grams do you think you get most days? I never keep up with it since I haven't had any problems, and eat any and everything. Having to work everyday, we have a lady out at the store and looks like she will be out for quite some time. Supposed to have sx next week. That was nice to get some clothes. Save you a few $. When do you have to go back to the dr? I forgot. Lisa, is your husband going to see his mom everyweekend? Didn't know if you and Tanner would go with him all the time or not. I am sure that would be hard with Tanner all the time. Pretty long drive from your area isn't it? I guess you are right about Vlynn. Just thought she might have posted over the weekend. Tpagern, if you didn't have to work today, I bet you are taking a nap. Hope your night went better than most. Just one more thing that is over for you. Susan, how's the toe? Get one of those doctors to keep it deadened while you are working.

Thj. No they do not put any saline when you first have surgery. You may have some swelling in the stomach which gives you a sense of restriction, but it is not from the band being tightened with saline. Also, the size of your stomach, the part where the band is around, is a different size than mine. Soooo, your band may "fit" closer or tighter than mine. Like Lo2us. hers fits tighter. Most don't even know when they get their first fill. But Lo2 couldn't tolerate a full dose her first fill and had to have a bit of it removed. Me, I had my 3rd fill before I even noticed anything. I am going to recieve my 5th fill on the 10th. I am hoping for the restriction I need, at that time. I haven't reached it yet. Everyone is different. You can crunch on some sf popcicles. Take care Where's Vlynn? I am worried.................

Teresa, I am sure it is harder when you have the family to cook for. My youngest which is in college was in and out, mostly out. My husband refused for me to cook while I could not eat. He made do or had soup, or something quick-fix, like pot pies or the like. I felt bad about it but didn't cook any full meals. Then the post-op was about the same. Soooo, I hardly cooked for 4 weeks! I have to confess....I enjoyed that part. Especially the cleaning up! I don't know if it gets easier or just grows on you, but every day is one more day closer to a new you, and one you don't have to ever repeat! Keep hanging in there.

LO I see that ticker moving.........yea for YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Betty, with all the security cautions, you might better skip any dramatics on the plane. I wouldn't want you to spend your vacation in a jail cell! LOL Your poor kids, hideing out because of embarrassment. Sorry, this is just getting too funny. Tpagern, try FF Catalina, it is the best FF dressing. It is kinda like a rich French. I am not a FF dressing eater, my kids never even know it when I use it on a special family salad, that they all love. They won't touch fat free. Change up your veggies that you put in the salad, seems to help for variety. Abatts, something hot may help before you eat. Hot tea, coffee, sf hot chocolate, broth, what ever you like hot. How far out are you now? Try to get a ticker so we can keep up better. We're nosy. LOL. POOOORRRRRRRRRRRRRRR SUUUUUUUSANNNNN.....:think :cry ............We love you...................... Lisa, now be nice to pooooor Susan. I am going to get me some of those emzymes. Just in case........

Betty, we don't want that plane turning around because someone is foaming at the mouth! LOL How long is the flight? I probably wouldn't eat on there either, unless it was soup or yogurt. Tpagern, I had to do the sleep study too. Who can sleep all wired up with wires hanging and stuff stuck in your hair, cords stretched to a bedside table, EGADS!!!! You just have to wad up, lay on it and try to pretend nothing is going to mess it up and then go to sleep. I was helping strip sheets at 4:40 a.m. Left by 5:00 a.m.! Oh, getting up to go to the bathroom was an experience in itself. lol

I am going to try this one more time! I have lost two posts?! Betty, I thought there was more time between your fill and your trip. Like 6 days or a week or so. Anyway i am glad you are getting it early. If you are out to eat, just order lite. Cottage cheese. soups, veggies with cheese on them, appetizers. You don't have to order full entrees to get something good anymore. If your daughter orders meat and it['s tender, just sneak a few bites. You might ask her to get you a few sugar free snacks in case you get hungry before they decide to eat. Just plan ahead a little bit for those times and you should be fine. I wish I were going with you to DC and NY. Been to DC once and would love to go back. Never been to NY. Take care and eat extra protein somehow so you won't get too tired. Above all, have a good time. When do you get your fill? Take something for your knee. Take care.
