  1. I hit 100 lbs lost at just about 5 months. My starting weight was 400 so the weight loss would have been faster initially than someone who started at a lower weight.

  4. I'm glad it worked out. I'm actually baffled that they scheduled you before getting approval from insurance first.
  5. That's an interesting food plan. They wouldn't even let me leave the hospital until I showed I could drink at least some of a Protein shake. You could try Isopure, it's a clear Protein Drink. Comes in a bunch of flavors.
  6. It definitely gets better. Pain was very manageable by the end of the first week. Walking and moving helps a lot with it. I had the exact opposite problem with urinating. Once they took my catheter out because of all the fluids from the IV I had to pee about once an hour. This meant getting up alot, and on the second night it meant getting up out of bed every 1-2 hours.

    3 meals a day only?

I was told to stick to three meals a day at regular meal times. The idea being to avoid getting back into grazing habits. I do occasionally have a little extra bite. Something like a pinch of shredded cheese, spoonful of peanut butter
  8. My recovery was fine. I only had real pain for about the first two weeks but it was very manageable, I stopped taking pain killers on week two. Never had issues with hitting my Water and Protein goals, only food I've had any issues with so far has been any kind of sugar alcohol sweetener.
  9. Met with my urologist this morning and I am now officially off my meds for low testosterone!!!

    Big NSV Today!

I was on clomiphene which was great because I never had to take testosterone.

    Why no soda

The carbonation and the sugar. In theory diet sodas should be fine if your plan allows other sugar free artificially sweetened drinks. The carbonation can be irritating to some sleeves, so check with your surgeon or NUT for their opinion on it. My instructions where to avoid it for the first few months.

    TMI POST- Constipation

Double check with your doctor, but you'll probably want some milk of magnesia or miralax. Also a softener like Colace. This next part is a little gross but you'll probably also want to get some sterile latex/nitrile gloves in case it's impacted you'll have to manually help it pass. This happened to me middle of my second week home.
  13. I'm at the point where I'm almost not even paying attention to liquids because I haven't had any trouble hitting my daily goal. Soup is a once in a while meal because I can eat about twice as much as something solid.

    Raw Oysters & Sashimi

Sashimi is probably fine, I was allowed fish on softs, as with everything you'll know pretty quickly if your sleeve doesn't like it. Definitely avoid rice.
  15. Unless I know them well enough to know they are going to react in a not great way I've just been telling everyone. I've had really great conversations about it, people seem curious for the most part. A surprising number actually already have friends and family who've had some kind of weight loss surgery.
  16. I had the same problem, I was just hungry all the time, always foraging for food. The difference between then and now is amazing. I have to be careful or I forget to eat.
  17. I keep Peanut Butter on hand, I find one or two teaspoons is very satisfying. coffee should actually be fine, caffeine can cause irritation after surgery but a few months out shouldn't be an issue. Just stay away from cream and sugar. A medium dunkin with milk and artificial sweetener is only around 50 calories.
  18. I've noticed that I seem to have a regular stall every fourth week I don't loose anything for about 5-7 days.

    Trouble getting protein

If you blend it anything is probably going to be tolerated. The sugar free ice cream still might have too many calories to be a good choice, I think it's something like 70 calories for 2g of Protein per service. A yogurt smoothie might work well for you. The tuna blend looks fine, keep an eye on the amount of mayo and relish you add since those are just extra calories. Ricotta cheese and cottage cheese are also really good for the pureed stage. There's a recipe floating around for a ricotta bake which is basically a lasagna without noodles that I mostly lived off of during the pureed stage.

    Low energy

Look into switching to the under the tongue B12s. B12 is much more effective when it's absorbed directly into the blood stream.

    Peanut butter

Fish, ricotta, cottage cheese worked well for me until I could handle solids. Peanut Butter has around 150 calories for 7g of Protein so isn't great as a main source of protein.

    Incision Pain

Once I stopped the pain pills I didn't even start taking Tylenol. The pain wasn't bad at all, just tender enough to let me know it was there. I was driving and back at work after two weeks.
  23. You'll want to just plan your portion sizes and meal times around hitting any Protein or calorie goals your surgeon/NUT gave you. You want to try to stick to three meals a day with no more than one snack, grazing through out the day can lead back to bad eating habits.

    Incision Pain

I was off the pain pills by the second week. It was still tender for about a month.
  25. I took Miralax and Colace for about the first month, I still take the Colace now. Walking is the best way to get the gas to clear up. You should try to walk a few times a day.
