Anyone Take Suboxone That Is Pre-Sleeve?
chele367 replied to chele367's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for your reply. Actually have an appointment Tuesday with the prescribing doctor. The nurse that called also had the sleeve a couple years ago. She said the liquid narcotic is way different than what it was like being able to take pills. Sometimes is causes sever heartburn and it does not take as much medicine like pre-sleeve. So far it sounds like they want me to do what the surgeon orders, then I can start back to the Suboxone. Will know more the 31st. Have a good Memorial Day. Keeping it simple myself getting household chores completed before the big date! Appreciate your feedback, thanks again. -
Surgery on the 29th June but having a wobble !
chele367 replied to Oasis's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
One more thing, what I have realized too is that our loved ones are afraid it is coming from love. Remind them that these procedures are preformed all over the world, hundred times a day with low mortality rate. Also, people are confronted with knowing you are going to change and so therefore they have to change. In it to win it!!!!! High Five!!! -
Surgery on the 29th June but having a wobble !
chele367 replied to Oasis's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yep, being sleeved on June 8th and the people whom I thought would be the happiest like my aunt and dad, are the ones who say they do not understand. Especially since I have lost over 30 lbs pre-op. All they need to do is realize I am 49 and lost and gained the same weight over and over so how is diet alone going to do it this time?? I am also a single mom of a 15 year old daughter. This is the hardest part knowing i need to make a will. Here is the other part, the most important at least now I maybe around to see her get married one day and have her own family. We could go at anytime no matter how, what, when and where. At least you are reaching for life choosing WLS. Good luck, you got this! Stop listening to others, they just do not get it. -Michele -
You made it this far do not give up. Call get on a cancellation list for appointment for the procedure. People cancel all the time. Call explain your situation to that department. Just never know until you try. Sometimes our lesser self wants to keep us stuck and looks for anyway to defeat our greater purpose/goal. Just push. Do you have a case manager? Get them in the conversation so they can do some inner dept. communications. Take a deep breath. I began this process the first time in 2009 only to be denied and it took me to this year to get back in the program. I am being sleeved June 8th. Anyway, will hold good thoughts for you just fight it. Take care and good luck you can do this! -M

Cake after being sleeved
chele367 replied to LMSWNYC's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Tell it! So true the brain gets pissed at artificial sweeteners and makes you seek out real deal. Then turns into fat as it knows not what to do. Trust me biggest Diet Coke whore alive. Took going through this process to finally get it. I had no shame D Coke w/ Breakfast sure why not. Anyway not sure how it will be for me sugar wise post op but been off it now since March! Thanks. EEEEKKKK Surgery Date 06/20!
chele367 replied to lmwilla's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yay! So awesome. In limbo mode too being sleeved, 6/8. Trying to keep my weight below goal. Last two weeks let myself off the diet leash just a bit. Went up 2 lbs and now down under a 1 lb from goal. My old way of thinking is like yeah you have a month you can eat then lose it. Um yes & no. Not sure how you are but some of my favorite things like pizza just do not taste as good after being so hardcore on the pre-op diet. So salty and can taste the sugar in sauce so might as well stick to the low carb cauliflower crap I have gotten use to lol. Are you planning a last supper or food funeral? It is not advised but sounds like it is a pretty common practice. I have not full on had a huge meal because I am afraid of the guilt and what that will do to my motivation. Then I get overwhelmed like what would I have anyway? Well here is to our new lives waiting for us!!! Here is to the countdown!!!!! Happy for you. -Michele -
Surgery is TOMORROW! Doesn't seem real.
chele367 replied to mlgok's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You got this! Sounds like you have the right attitude to carry you through. My date on the table for sleeve is June 8th. Let us know how it goes what it is like post-op. -
Surgery on 6/1! Looking for friends!
chele367 replied to bananafish's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, Wow! How excited are you?? My sleeve date is, 6/8 so we will be a week apart but glad to hear your recovery story. Then we can cheer each other on for the long haul. I live in Napa Valley, CA and being sleeved through Kaiser. They only have us stay the night and then we are discharged home. We do not have to do the liquid diet pre-op but post op for 3 days. From this site and others feedback it seems like walking is the ticket to get rid of surgery gas and to heal faster. Sounds like a real kick in the pants lol. Keep us all posted and good luck!!!!! -
Ooh yeah girl they weigh you each time you go in regardless of appointment type. AND they do not let you take your shoes off unless you have socks or tights on at our office, I get why but come on. I am not a sock person, so now I got hip carry those little footy things. So, I was approved for June 8th already lost more than my pre op goal weight. I have been having little mini food funerals like movie popcorn, Pasta, pizza, drinks. Then I walk and go right back to the pre op meal plan weighing and measuring foods. Do not want my food addiction to get back in the drivers seat. Also, low carb usually does the trick. Sounds like you are on it with the Clear Liquids so keep it up. Just remember how badly you want this new life ahead of us and is it worth the foods we already know how they taste and where they get us. Sweat it out my friend! Good luck, you can do this!

Are Your Family Members Overweight and Which of Them Supported You?
chele367 replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Well funny you should post this. My parents are not overweight. I am 49 always struggled with weight as food was my coping mechanism soon after I was molested as a small child. Fast forward, being attractive and stylish a lot of times saved me from the wrath of being a slob but not always. I tried in 09 to be approved for bypass failed yet lost 60 lbs. So the fact that family and friends can see that I am capable of losing weight to them pure willpower alone should do it. My aunt is the next obese person in my immediate family. She is the family feeder, food hoarder and the reason costco stays in business. What single person needs to shop at Costco weekly? Right! The people who have 2 freezers and 2 fridges. My aunt said she will support me that was back in March when I started WLS process. Now I am approved and she says she does not understand why I am having it. Now she is conditioning me saying I better not be this way or that after then bragging about my weight loss. Saying things to me like well now I cannot take you out to eat anymore. Or wow you will never get to have BBQ ribs again knowing they are one of my fav's. And the hatched flew right into my back when at a dinner party that I was not present at she proceeded to talk about my weight issues and surgery to a guy I was in grade school with. Who cares? Further more she has to be 100 overweight worry about yourself. Food is love in my family always was and to my dad and my aunts and uncles who struggle with alcohol and or pills. No one wants to see someone one else rise up out of misery. Despite what they say. I am being sleeved June 8th. The victim hood mentality is staying on that operating table while I walk to a stronger, healthy me. If I can inspire anyone else and not alienate them so be it. But I will not allow anyone to make me feel bad for my choice. Scare me with loose skin stories all you want at least it will not be fat. Even my dad does not understand why surgery. The conversation is going to change now for my family how they relate and talk about me. What does it matter they already talk about my weight nothing new really. And I have a daughter who is 15 and healthy weight thank goodness! That is always something they talk about too she does not take after me. Probably more than you wanted to know!! Give me a mic or platform because I have lots to say only scratched the surface here. Thank you Sent from my LGLS990 using the BariatricPal App -
Hey sorry you meant you had surgery a month ago. I would skip the rice misunderstood thought you were a month from having surgery. Yeah rice swells and can get stuck. So go for the sashimi if you are in the solid food phase now it is Protein. Sorry to be confusing.
-
Hi, Are you asking for calories or because of something else? My surgery date is 6/8 and I have been off carbs all but for the ones in veggies. Post op we were told no more rice, Pasta, bread cause it gets stuck in pouch as do corn and celery. Maybe sashimi would be a wise choice since it is just sliced, raw fish or seafood pure Protein. If you want to go full on rolls just adjust your diet, walk longer or whatever you do for exerciser. Oh and low sodium soy sauce. Totally get why you are asking just had Corn Chowder which is not on any diet plan anywhere lol. Kanpai! Japanese for cheers! ops typo's sorry

Is It Necessary To Have Help At Home?
chele367 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, Single mom of 15 year old daughter. The case manager for my gastric sleeve knows she is the only other person with me. Now my step mom wants to come stay with me on discharge day. Lovely person but so annoying. The type that goes through your cabinets and closets without asking, stomps and speaks super loudly on the phone. We live in a tiny upstairs apartment. Anyway how essential is it to have someone with you first few days? My daughter can walk to school , heat up meals I will have prepared ahead. Man, I sound mean. My step mom is only a few years older than me I am 49 lol. I know she is trying help but I do not want to he stressed with a house guest. HELP surgery 6/8. Is It Necessary To Have Help At Home?
chele367 replied to chele367's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks everyone, the only time I have ever been admitted to the Hospital was during child birth and from what I recall I was a real B word and cursed at people lol. I just do not want to be in my room healing, listening to someone conduct their business via phone and asking me questions where is this where is that. Then I might as well be at work at my desk propped up lol. I have friends close enough if something goes down. This site is so amazing for the truth. People that have not gone through this have no idea and assume they know. THANK YOU -
Weigh Your Food: It is accurate and will save you calories.
chele367 replied to OutsideMatchInside's topic in Food and Nutrition
Kaiser is where I am having sleeve surgery and the first day of orientation they told us to purchase a food scale. It is amazing how you think you know how much you are consuming until you weigh it. 3 ounces of chicken or Protein will surprise a person. Anyway good tool and best way to control portions. All the best to you! Please let us know how you are doing what it is really like post surgery. June 8th is my sleeve date! Funny the program I am in does not require the liquid diet pre-op but post-op. They say walk, walk, walk post surgery to get rid of gas and to heal. We only get one night stay in hospital then they send us on our way. You are probably much younger than I so you might bounce right back! Okay here is to your new life just like a butterfly spreading new wings. If you are reading this in pain you are probably thinking shut up you crazy lady lol. Just kidding. Alright keep us posted. Prayers for a speedy recovery -Michele All the best to you! Please let us know how you are doing what it is really like post surgery. June 8th is my sleeve date! This is an ancient practice from India the practice of Ayurvedic medicine. I cannot speak to the yeast and all that but our skin is our largest organ. The practice is called Garshana. There are other things like oil pulling. I tried oil pulling but found it time consuming. Anyway sure skin brushing feels good at the very least. Now back to my sleeve date count down....... So much for keeping my mouth shut...
chele367 replied to pammieanne's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah I had no idea even the UPS driver decided to get in on spreading the news of my pending sleeve. Then my aunt who has a weight problem proceeded to chat it up with people who know me but swears she did not tell them. But she did. The fact anyone discusses your weight at a dinner party which you are not present. Anyway was not prepared to be outed so quickly had no idea it would be news worthy. God I would make a terrible Kardashian lol people examining your every move. Just sad that even people who claim to love you can be insensitive. Oh well to hell with it. I am going to make the best of this life changing moment and hopefully shed insecurities and gain confidence. Thanks for sharing! Good luck stay in touch if you like. 3 & 1/2 Weeks Out From Sleeve Date Learned A Big Lesson Rant
chele367 posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So, I work in a small town in a small industry. We have had the same delivery driver for decade, we have always been friendly chit chat on the job only. Well I made the mistake of sharing my sleeve news. Only to hear back from friends in other neighboring offices he is blabbing telling people and taking smack. Yes, I know it is my fault. Just hurtful. And my aunt has been running her mouth. Not that I care if people know but it is my story to tell. Learn from me not everyone has your best interest at heart even with they pretend. Done. Time to take care of myself and leave everyone out of it who is not going through it. Thank you -
YAASSS Girl! Ooh it is real now! I was in shock first 2 days of being approved. Now I am back! Keep up your good work. Happy for you.

June 8th Is My Sleeve Date!
chele367 replied to chele367's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Someone just told me who is post-op to go have a cheat day before surgery. It will be the last time to be able to eat like that. Of course that is exactly opposite of what we have been being taught and practicing in order to be approved. Have to weigh in again 6/7 for 6/8 surgery. As of yet have not cheated. Kinda feel like I do not want to let myself down. Then I think maybe I should have one last hurrah. Any thoughts? -
