I had surgery 6/30/16 and all along I have experienced restriction. The reality is that now all I can eat at one time is 5-6 bites. So I've found that I've got to scope out and plan what is part of my meal. At this point I eat what I feel like, which is always nutritious. But it's over as quick as it's began. My plate usually is the size of a saucer so bites are 3oz of chicken first, and it's cut into bite size pieces. Teaspoon or two of veggies and two teaspoons of yam will go on my plate. It's rare I finish it all. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Was 230 at 1st weigh in for pre-qualify of surgery. Day of surgery I weighed 220. 6/30/16 was surgery. As of today I am 180lbs. Slow but steady, now I'm exercising more to get to 160 goal. Doctor feels that's my goal. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
The earbuds for your phone was a life saver. I played a fan for white noise. I had a very noisy neighbor. And constant interruptions by staff. So with the earbuds I could sleep without interruptions. Lay leaning on your left side and you'll find the gas moves better. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Not losing anymore
rebecca wills replied to charley27's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Drinking plain Water, 1 smart water or electrolyte drink a day. Breathing exercises, mild exercise early on. When your taking in such a low caloric amount you have to make sure you take all the nutrients or hair will fall out, your body will be forced into a crisis and self preservation. Guard against that by following your nutritionist. Don't go rouge, 1/2 a pound is still going in the right direction. Some weeks your body is changing. I find areas of my body that were once hard become softer, then all of a sudden scale drops. Hang in there, the weight came on over time, it will come off. I think your venting about me. I'm craving salt I think. I eat 5 bites and I'm full. Sick of Protein shakes. Seems like chips go down easy and satisfy the crunch factor. I have celiac so bread is off the table. I'm 20lbs away from goal. Surgery 6/30 my night snack is ice pops. I can't do dairy either. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Yes I have done it on occasion. It is imperative that you follow all instructions. Most important is never drink at least 20 min. Prior food intake. And eat slowly chewing food carefully. Air can be swollowed if you eat too fast. Bubbles will bring about regurgitate of food and liquids. Triggers are given by your body to tell you your getting close to full. My triggers are 3 different ones. First I feel a sudden empty of my pouch below sleeve into intestine. Then I feel after three bites attachment into lower sleeve. At my 5th bite I tend to get a hiccup if that moment I have to cease anything more. If I do Bad things happen. We all need to pay careful attention to what's going on and if we do we protect our sleeve. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Sleeve scheduled for 10/19- would you do it again?
rebecca wills replied to jaylee9146's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You can never know everything before surgery. You can never know exactly how you will feel about your new normal until you experience it. You can never predict every post op complication that you might encounter either. Most people do great but some of us stay ill and incredibly debilitated for months on end. No amount of research can predict exactly what the outcome will be post op. I am nearly six months out and still can't eat normally. I am exhausted, hungry and weak. I did my research thoroughly for over two years pre op. My bariatric team just say "this happens sometimes". Well they never told me that any of this could happen! By six months out, I was supposed to be well and up on my feet. Yes, I am at normal weight now but what good is that if you are too weak and sick to move? For some people, this surgery was just not the right decision. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App To suggest that your experience was something that is going to happen to all is irresponsible if it can drastically improve the health of others. Too many people have had positive improvements. We shouldn't push our negative opinion on others as the rule. When it is not. I have multiple auto immune illnesses and have struggled with weight which compounds the discomfort of arthritis, fibro, CFS, hormonal imbalances causing leptin resistance. Metabolic syndrome, High Blood pressure. Diabetes, I am a nurse and have bad knees, hip etc. celiac, and diverticulosis. Graves Disease and Graves Eye Disease. So after all my research in a way to improve quality of life, this was the answer. So that's all I'm saying! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

The pre surgical testing and doing due diligence in research should have you to the point that when you make this decision you absolutely know what your doing. You spend as many years as I did in a struggle and then remove your thyroid. 50 lbs means I can run and play with my grand kids, walk around the zoo with them without huffing and puffing, off my BP meds, no longer boarder line diabetic. 50 lbs means longer life and. Enter quality of life. My cup is more than half full it may be 50/100 but I got there in 5 months. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

CYA is a term many know in the medical field. It's why the % was put out there. In my personal opinion I took the information as a suggestion not a carved in stone number. Every one was told we each need to do all we can to improve those numbers. I'm a week away from 6 months and almost at 50lb loss. I haven't started a regular exercise routine due to bad knee's. But I'm going to start now that I'm lighter. I've got 30 lbs to goal! Pray for me! We are given the tool, what we do after is up to us. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Lay on your back and do slight pelvic tilts will help and then rest on your left. It will move the gas along. Walking is very helpful. Take your pain meds, don't try to tough it out!!!! Good sleep will help the healing! Every day is better than the day before. In a week you'll wonder what the fuss was all about. Anticlimactic and almost surreal. Flew by so fast! I'm 6 months out this week coming up and It's been amazing! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
