Hey Mo! Good luck! Not sure what your current diet is? Have you tried a low carb? This tends to drop the pounds well. So lean meats and veg etc?

I had this pain for 3 Months non stop at the start of my journey when I laid down or after I'd eaten and discovered it was the Vagus nerve where your band is resting on your diaphragm. This disappeared as I lost weight and tightened the band... It's a horrendous thing, I really hope you get it sorted!

Hi all! How delightful to see everyone posting again and hearing all the stories of success and advice! I've been banded for 21 months now, I've lost 10.5 stone . I'm feeling the best I ever have and don't look back for one minute!! I had a hellish journey and for the first three months I regretted my decision due to extreme left shoulder pain from where my band was catching on my diaphragm and It was messing with the nerve. I slept sitting up right for the whole time With a hot water bottle on the front of my shoulder and heat mat on the back. I even went to the surgeon to remove it. But thank god the more weight I lost the more the band shifted and touch wood I've never had it since! I'm so glad I made the decision to make this journey and it's amazing to hear Other people's! Good luck everyone!

Hi ladies, just thought I'd say hi. Your progress sounds good so stick in there you're doing well! It's totally worth some of the hard work! I'm 27 and had the lap band fitted 21 months ago... I've lost 10.5 stone. Most of it in my 2nd year so don't give up when you get into the swing of it you will notice it dropping off. There were so many days where it was crazy disheartening... but in the end you'll win! If you ever need a buddy or anything please don't hesitate to contact! I struggled so much the first 8 months and would have loved More interaction with others Have a good day!

I haven't but I know my friend has. The flight caused a bubble of water in her band. She couldn't even keep water down. She had to have all the Saline taken out the band to clear the bubble and put straight back in. Easy fix, but caused a lot discomfort! I hope you feel better soon!

Hi holly! I'm 27, It was April 2016 when I had the lap band fitted and I weighed 20 stone. I'm now down to 11 stone and it's the best thing I've ever done!!! For me it was a really difficult journey as the band was sat on my diaphragm causing me pain in my shoulder but the more weight I lost the more the pain went away! I questioned why I done it to myself the whole first year of extreme pain, but mine was a rare case! Now it's gone and I'm fitter and healthier I could not be happier and I would recommend it to anyone!!! If you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact me!!! Good luck ok your journey!!! You can do this! -

Does anyone please please have any other ideas or could tell me this will stop eventually! If this is a permanent fixture I'm doomed!! It's been so bad at night it's been reducing me to tears! I've been walking for the last hour and half just to keep it away! Please help! X Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Total failure, but hoping to start again
Jmbdt replied to Basicwitch's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You are not a failure! We've all been there and know how disheartening it is when we fall of the band wagon. You're only human!! Start a new page! Take the courage to go back and with the right support you'll get back there. You've been through a lot by the sound of it, no wonder you wanted to eat. Think most of us would have done the same! I know I probably would... My surgeon told me to aim for between 800-1000 calories a day. So try that and go from there! Good luck... You can do it. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Hey, it's improved slightly during the day but it's agony at night. I've been signed off work and put on a nerve medication. Surgeon things it's the Vagras nerve ( think that's how it's spelt) it's a nerve which runs from your diaphragm up to shoulder... It's a rare side effect in band patients but it's where they make a tunnel and stitch it up by your diaphragm until that properly heals it sends a pain to the nerve but your brain tricks you and it stimulates a pain in your shoulder! He said it could be a few months max! The meds I'm on are spacing me out big time! But hey the weights falling off so I guess it's a small price to pay! Thanks for asking... Hope you're well? I'm sorry to hear you suffer with migraines only ever had a few in my life and they were awful. So I feel for you! I've heard and read that vomiting can cause the band to slip. It might be worth talking this over with your surgeon. Good luck! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
