hmmm, I got the impression they won't have a machine. I'll have to call and double cheek. Thanks, everyone for the responses! -
Have to get a second sleep study?

Mine was three weeks ago. Everyone I have talked to had one study and then got a machine. There's something not right here -
I'm going to Brooklyn for a sleep study tonight. I have no known symptoms, but the NLNL surgical clinic, who is handling my insurance requires it. Presumably because it makes the case for insurance coverage stronger. Perhaps they'll find something useful for the case, as they did when they requested blood work. Apparently, I'm diabetic now. Endoscopy next week, then two more nut appointments and they will submit paperwork. It seems to me, that even with a BMI of 37.9 and one co-morbidity, I should be a lock. But when dealing with Insurance (aetna) nothing is certain. Anyone done a sleep study?

It was a restless night, but not as bad as I expected. I'm eager to get the results. The wife says I snore most every night and that most snorers suffer from some amount of apnea. I suppose two co-morbities are better than one? heehee

ahh, now I understand the reason. Thanks!

Is diabetes considered a co-morbidity?

Thanks. Does anyone know if I need to get a confirmed, official diagnosis from my primary, or is the blood work taken by the surgeon enough? I'm using the O-band center, new look, new life. They have the bloodwork and they are processing the insurance paperwork -
I'm pretty sure it is, and my blood work came back positive for it. Anyone know for sure. I have aetna Thanks in advance

I have to do a 3 month nut
-
I'm glad I read this. I also have Aetna and went for a surgical consultation today. They told me I have to do a three month diet with monthly visits, but they never coached me about gaining or losing weight. I the idea that i was supposed to "fail" at dieting? Also, I have to have blood work, and endoscopy, and a sleep study My biggest issue is my bmi of 38. I have no co-morbidities. The only thing I have going for me is the fact that I had and removed lap band. Not feeling to confident

How do you guys cope with the loss of food as a "medication"? Do you find the restriction reduces that desire to cope by eating? -

Just looking for the male perspective. Thanks everyone, -
Hi Guys, How long and how much pain did your surgery cause? What meds did they give you? I have an appointment in Mid July with a surgeon. Thanks

Does the hair grow back?
-
I have Aetna also. My BMI is 36. I applied with the O-band center and they claim I am pre approved based on my co morbidity and previous band removal. I have an appointment next week with a surgeon. I'll report back once I meet them

Lap ban survivor here, considering sleeve have many questions
Bruce Peter posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi folks, I had lap band surgery several years ago and finally had to have it removed. I couldn't tolerate and restriction whatsoever, even liquids would come back up. Well as the story goes, I've gained weight again and I'm considering the sleeve. With the band, I was constantly throwing up. I had a four cc band and couldn't get more that 1cc of fill before I was completely blocked up. Even liquids would get stuck and it was very painful. I had some heartburn too, but that was tolerable. Are the complications with the sleeve similar? For those of you through the stages, eating solid foods, what happens if you eat too much? To you hurl? Is it painful? How much can you eat? what foods can you tolerate? I know with the band, beef was impossible to eat. Are there any foods that you can't eat? Any regrets? Thanks in advance for any help Bruce -
