Wow Sounds like your DH is more worried about how this will effect HIS fun than your health? Whats more important? Where is his support for you? Ask yourself why you want this in the first place? to get healthy and happy right? Your going to be doing this for YOU. It's going to take a huge commitment on your part to follow the docs orders and make this work. Good Luck

A question for carbonated soft drinks
Gypsy44 replied to hstella's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Everyone, Everything I have read about the band and what my doc says NO CARBONATED drinks, NO CAFFENINE, Period. Now think about what you wanted to accomplish when you got banded. Didn't anyone tell you its a life changing experience.?? SO CHANGE give up old bad habits and replace with new HEALTHY ones. Like drinking Water which you need to flush out the fat. Not sodas. If you want cheap really good tasting water. Put a picture from your tap in the fridge. Let it sit overnight. All the chemical taste will be gone. I am supposed to drink 64 oz a day. I put that amount in the fridge everynight. Next morning I start drinking. If I have to go somewhere I pour some in a old water bottle. YOU can do this! All you have to do is replace the word CAN'T with CAN and just do it. Sorry for the soap box treatment. But if your not willing to change the habits that got you to be banded... WHY DID YOU GET BANDED? -
I want some REAL food!?!?!?!?!
Gypsy44 replied to txjanaa1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi I was banded the 22nd. And tomorrow I get to have a few mushies like creamed soup and cream of wheat cereal (thinned out) but if thinned out cream of wheat is ok. Why not thinned out grits? Its almost the same thing. Unless corn is harder to digest than wheat? I would call and ask my nutritionalist for sure. -
Four days out and feeling better everyday. Now just trying to make sure I get enough water, protien shakes and all the rest in. I dont fell hungry at all. Good thing the weather is nice makes me want to get outside and go for short walks. I planted all my flowers before the surgery. So I have time to enjoy them now. Looking forward to the mushy diet. Hope everyones feeling better.

the new LAP-BAND AP (Advanced Platform)
Gypsy44 replied to sandraanne's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
HI All i was just banded with the new AP band on Thursday the 22.I was so nautious from the antistetic. I cant even think about food. I have to force myself to drink the liguid shakes. But I did find a little info about the AP band: Allergan LAP-BAND AP System features Omniform Technology ...a 360-degree inflation area that wraps uniformly around the stomach. The device is available in two size options to accommodate varying patient and surgical technique requirements. Omniform technology allows the LAP-BAND AP System to maintain controlled, even and round inflation throughout the adjustment range of the band. Dr. Simpson comments, "This new system promises even more weight loss as seen in international studies and has less chance of erosion." -
HI All I'm on my 2nd to the LAst day of my pre-op diet, I had to purchase the diet form my docs ofice , its all shakes, soups, and cold drinks. NO SOLID FOOD. And make sure I drink 64 oz water a day. I found out hot liquids really helps. Soduim free Broth and herbal teas. NO CAFFINE allowed. When you get hungry just drink as much as you can to fill up your stomach. The reason my Doc told me for the diet was to shrink my liver and loose as much weight as possible. So far 20 pounds gone in almost 2 weeks! The reason to shrink the liver is your stomachs behind it. They have to move the liver and the smaller it is the less chance of any damage to it. Yep its hard not to cheat. But I see it as a test. IF I cant stick to this for 2 weeks.?? HOW will I stick to the post -surgery diet. After all this is just the beginning. Its going to change my eatting habits for the rest of my life IF I WANT IT TO WORK.
