Vitamins and Calcium
Pazza replied to fallenfeatherstudio's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It is a prescription but I get mine through nutrition direct. The Vitamins come with the b12 nasal spray. I love how easy it is. My insurance covers the cost too. They have the dissolve/chewable ones and the ones to swallow depending on how far out you are from surgery. -
Having issues getting in 4 oz an hour
Pazza replied to The_bypasslife's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Are you talking about Water consumption? If so, it does get easier as you get farther out from surgery. Just keep sipping and doing what you can. I have trouble with cold water. liquids have to be room temp or warmer. Good luck! -
You are a fighter! Sounds like it had been a difficult process. I wish you all the best. Good luck!

How far out are you from surgery? Have toy reintegrated veggies? You can also do a homemade thin crust from Ricotta and parmesean cheese. Bake it first and broil the cheese and toppings.
-
What curves are you thinking about? Breasts, hips, bum, etc? I think generally people keep curves, it can be different than before though. Most people don't end up like stick thin runway people. Also that extra skin will add to your curves.

How far out are you? What type of exercise are you doing?

Oh wow. I'm sorry! I hope someone on here can help. I would say go to see your doctor or surgeon. P.s. I don't know anything about you but could you be pregnant? (Again I don't know if you are male or female, age, etc) My sisters in law always have terrible heartburn in the early stages of pregnancy.

Quest Protein bars. Low sugar or carb control yogurt. Premier Protein. A lot of people on here seem to like GENEPRO (sp) My stomach doesn't like meat either.
-
Does the same thing happen when you drink flavored Water? Still doing the daily acid reducers like Prevacid or Pepcid? I'm sorry BTW!

Enemas can be helpful.if you can take pills it might be time for Ducolax. It could be related to your cycle too. Get stopped up before mine

Take it slow and find something you like. Fitness blender and Sparkpeople are good places to start. You can do body weight exercises, as long as it is good with the doctor. Walking the dog has added a lot of activity for me. I workout too but walking the dog adds some bonus activity. If you don't have a dog, just enjoy a walk. If you do get into walking outside and live in an area with winter weather, dress in layers and look into yak tracks for your shoes. Keep going! All the best!

I'm loving all the doggie pics[emoji7] [emoji4]

Walking my dog has helped me quite a bit! I get in extra activity that way! What kind of dogs do you have? If you can, I would suggest some doggie training. I'm still working on that one with mine. He can be quite strong. If they are pullers, I would give it a few more weeks, just to make sure you are fully healed. Then try a short walk to see how it goes.

I'm excited for you! Think this is a good question. If you don't know the possible long term difficulties/complications and what you can do to avoid them, ask about it. I suggest this not to scare you. I think these are good to know. Statistically, you probably won't have to deal with them. There are lots of things that can happen afterwards, like Vitamin deficiencies. Most of the time people are still healthier than without the surgery. A family member of mine that had the surgery has to take massive doses of b12 to keep b12 levels up in the good range. Not a huge thing or enough to stop me from doing the surgery. But for me, knowing possible complications helps me. Probably just a weird me thing though.

Wound Care - Help Please!
Pazza replied to ineffably_yb's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Does the dr office have any advice?? Didn't have the sleeve but know wound care can be tricky! -
DUMB question, especially this far out post-surgery...
Pazza replied to swizzle's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Great advice here. Just wanted to say thanks. @@James Marusek - thanks for the advice about Soup. I was searching about Soups and this answered my questions @@swizzle & @@LisaMergs I'm about 6 months out too. I'm glad you started this topic. Way to go on your work and weightloss. All the best. Hello! Warning this will be a little long. My husband and I love the fall holidays and I am looking for advice on new traditions. There are lots of creative people on here, so I thought I would get your opinions. We have lots of Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas movies. We read a book together in October. Halloween Tree this year. We do a lot of other Halloween/fall stuff like corn mazes, crafts and pumpkins. Thanksgiving- we normally do snack foods, make popcorn in the fireplace, play games/puzzles all day and start our Christmas movies. Next day we go get our tree. We have done a potluck dinner a couple of times. We round up other people who don't have somewhere to go. Though this year I haven't found any others who don't have a place to go, which is a good thing really. Christmas - this is probably the most difficult one. We do Chinese food take out on Christmas Eve. We do taco cups for Christmas dinner. Odd but it is our thing. My husband feels like we can't or shouldn't do these things because of my surgery and food reintegration difficulties. I'm six months out now and my diet is mainly Protein drinks, cheese and Protein Bars. My doctor isn't worried about it. It just takes longer for some people. Also I think he often feels bad eating food that I can't or won't. Which I can understand. He also thinks buying snack foods just for him is a waste. What we can't do We don't have our family near by and don't do holiday travel. We have a dog that can't be left alone for long periods or boarded.

@@Caribear I love the popcorn garland idea I bet the birds would love it to. I too like the egg face blog. Lots of good recipes. @@Djmohr You do give great feedback. I like the roll ups idea. Stir fry is pretty yummy! Yes, I am having problems with eating real food. At my 3 month my surgeon told me that it just takes longer for some people. My nerve damage from an accident also plays into things because the nerves that control part of my GI system often get confused and just don't quite work 'normally'. So it may be a longer process for me. Dr also said to make sure I am getting enough Protein and to take it slowly. Wednesday I have my 6 month check up and will be asking him a lot of questions. When trying new foods I eat small amounts of the new food, chew really well, take small bites, etc etc and most things feel like I have a roto-rooter going through. I even tried low sugar baby food just to get my system used to veggies. Still had the same problems. It isn't dumping just really unpleasant. I have been able to slowly work my way up to eating a little frozen to microwaved carrots.

The first few weeks after surgery can be really tough. Physically thr body is healing from major surgery. Emotionally a person is dealing with ramifications of the surgery and new frustrations. I don't know if it happens for everyone but I also dealt with the hormone dump for a little while after surgery. Drove me crazy! It does get easier. Easier to get in the fluids and Protein. Easier to deal with the changes. All the best!

I'm glad recovery is going pretty well. I think the discomfort will go away within another week or two. (Just from the time it takes to heal.) I'm not a stomach sleeper, so I can't help with any advice on that. I can tell you that when lying on my side I put pillows under my torso/tummy and that helped. Good luck! That can back up quickly! Previous post was what I would have said. Just want to add that Miralax is ano there good option.

Lactose problems popped up
Pazza replied to busybeebug's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had bypass and had this problem. From what I have read it is fairly common and for some people goes away time. I take Lactaid/Lactase with anything dairy or whey. Makes my life a lot better. I get a big box from costco. Take 3 pills with a premier Protein shake. Just let them dissolve in my mouth as I drink the shake. Good luck and feel better. -
Tough topic! Congrats on your weightloss and active lifestyle. You are doing great! I would tell you to give it a little more time and be kind to yourself. Reward yourself for all of the changes you have made and continue to follow. You have made a lot of changes in a relatively short amount of time and it can take time for our minds to adjust to change. Having gone through therapy myself, a good therapist can be a valuable asset!! Though not every therapist will be a good fit. Also, if you want plastics save up and go for it. This is your journey. (I myself think I might want them someday. Not far enough along in my journey.) If you save up the money and decide you don't want them after all, do something fun or invest it.
