How are you feeling not getting in that many carbs? Do you feel like you would have to stuff yourself to get in more good/slow carbs? Like barley, broccoli, Beans, nuts, etc. If you can drink it, an 11 oz can of V8 has 9 sugar and 14 grams carbs. (Just off the top of my head, so it may not be 100% right.) You can get in some veggies and if you want to hit that 100 grams carbs, it'll help. Part of the reason my carbs are the way they are is because of my picky pouch. food reintegration has just been a struggle. My pouch is just really slow to get used to new food. So on my plan, I don't have to any carb bench marks I have to hit.
-
Everyone is different but I'm 9 months out and I don't think my pouch could handle that many carbs in a day. On a carb intense day I push 70. I think the best advice is to focus on your fluids and Proteins. Especially since you are only two months out. What does your doctor/plan say?

I can totally relate!! Never really big in makeup. Haven't got a clue. Max is eyeliner and mascara. I stopped buying it because the stuff was past expiration date by the time I would go to use it again. Know that it is expected when I go back to work... Loving people's advice!! My other girl-fu fail, is clothes too. My husband helps me! He is really helpful at picking clothes that make me look good. I have no idea how to dress myself. Waiting until I hit nadir to get a new wardrobe. For now looking for inspiration on Pintrest. Have a honest friend with good fashion sense? Good luck at work! Let us know how things go. Haha! This is kind of funny. I had terrible nausea for months after surgery and the mints were so helpful at calming my pouch. I tried the sugar free lifesavers but they did not help! There were fewer carbs or sugars, don't remember which in regular altoids. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using the BariatricPal App

Not getting enough calories at 5 months from Bypass
Pazza replied to customademe's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think it is probably too early for maintenance phase. Stalls happen, and your weight loss will probably continue if you keep doing the right things. Which it sounds like you are. As for calories, I am 9 months out and just barely getting in 1000 a day. (I get in over 100 grams Protein too.) Don't eat if you aren't hungry. Don't stuff your pouch trying to get in extra. Keep following the rules of protein first, drink timing, good veggies, low carb, etc, etc. If you are getting in all your protein and fluids, give yourself a pat on the back. You are also getting in good activity, give yourself another pat on the back. Everyone is different. This is just where you are right now. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using the BariatricPal App -
Freezing....all the time!
Pazza replied to missvee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was cold before and am still cold! Hoping to help- Cuddl Duds/layers - http://www.cuddlduds.com I wear them as a base layer. Get mine at good old Walmart or Target. costco carries a brand called 32 degrees. Similar base layers, also good. Electric mattress pad - nice and toasty. Build muscle- supposed to help. Don't know for myself. Takes forever. Anything merino wool. Can be pricey and special care needed. I have a cardigan someone gave me in a bag of clothes to help size down. I actually get toasty in it! Good luck! In Italy they say cold hands mean a warm heart. -
Totally normal. A daily dose of miralax and lots of exercise is my solution. Nice and gentle. I know other people who like smooth move tea or combo pill laxatives and stool softner. Good luck!

Question for the 100+lb losers
Pazza replied to _bribri1001's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Bufflehead had a lot of great things to say, which is pretty normal. The rules she gave seem fantastic. I think that cravings take time to change. It is difficult to change them but remember that you will get there. It will get easier. After surgery I craved taco bell. 9 months out now and I don't. Exercise - I did find it was easier to add more exercise as I lost weight. Start with where you are, be consistent and keep going. There are a lot of helpful resources for adding exercises or changing up your routine. Also, find omething you enjoy that works with your schedule. Exercise does help with the weight loss but like Bufflehead said, it is important for general health. Keeping that mindset has helped me during my weight loss stalls. I hope other vets weigh in because I feel a bit silly adding advice. I'm only 9 months out from rny and still have a lot to learn about keeping the weight off long term. All the best to you! -
Lots of thoughts on this topic. Vitamin D/Winter - I am always more tired in the winter and my Vitamin D levels go down. I try to take a supplement but they have to be combined with sunlight exposure. Water/dehydration? Maybe increase fluids. Caffeine - I know people might not like this but I have to use caffeine. The sugar free Mio energy drops. I run a high calorie deficit and need the help. Don't go overboard with it but it can be helpful. sleep tracker? Getting enough sleep? Exercise also helps me feel more energized. An endorphin boost. Meditation sometimes helps me but sometimes I fall asleep trying to meditate. Too much in your schedule? Maybe it is time to drop something. I wish you luck. I feel tired often and hate it.

I suggest trying the sugar free crush drops you can add to Water. Or maybe something like this? https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B005ECLNIM/ref=mp_s_a_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1483884372&sr=8-1&keywords=water+flavor+packets+sugar+free+orange Could you be getting sick? I ask because I often want orange juice when I'm getting sick and don't know I'm getting sick.

I second the getting in more fluids. Though it can be tough 3.5 weeks out. Also, I use a lot more lotion now than before surgery. I get in lots of fluids too. When it comes to lotions, I look at the ingredients and find they are really similar for the expensive vs inexpensive ones. So I go for the less expensive one that smells good. I really like udder cream and bag balm. Udder cream isn't greasy and isn't heavily scented. At my grocery store, I can buy a purse size lotion. If you can find that, that would be a good way to try it. The acne could also be from the hormone dump/readjustment your body is going through post wls.

For me, some people know and some people don't. A lot of people I am close to know about my surgery. If I feel someone is going to be judgemental/too nosey/nasty about it or is just not that close to me, I don't waste my time telling them. If you don't feel comfortable then don't tell people. You can always say that you are loosing weight by following a strict diet, working with your doctor, exercising more, etc. These things are all true. It can be a struggle figuring out who to tell what. I wish you luck. It might be good to talk with your professors about the surgery in case you need accommodations of some sort. E.g. if you are having trouble sitting for long periods of time, need to have food on hand, or many other reasons. You can get accommodations for taking tests. It is helpful and if medically you need them, take them. All the best to you in your journey

The sugar in Noosa would kill me! 9 months out. I used to like it a lot though. I didn't care for the oikos yogurt I tried but I still have a few flavors to try. I am finding my tastes have changed a lot since the surgery. I find I have to try things once or twice to see if I like it. Might be the same for you. I like dannon light and fit Greek yogurt. It is yummy and lower on the sugars. My Dad and Stepmother who had rny years ago love the carb control yogurt by kroger/smith's. Can't find it out where I am but it might be near you. Best of luck with everything!

Oh. Good. Way to follow your plan. If you have had it before, it could just be the combo. Sorry btw. The stomach pain isn't fun Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using the BariatricPal App

How far out are you? In my plan we couldn't do veggies for several months. Could be related to that that if it was anything more than veggie broth.

You might be a WLS patient when...
Pazza replied to Who'sThere's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
When you buy 3 month supply of premier Protein every time it goes on sale. (Next sale starts January 5th) When your friends no longer freak out about your portions - only have a Protein shake or 2 oz meat and some cheese for dinner. You can pull your skin so far away from your collar bone or face that it really freak out your friends. -
Vitamin HELP Please...
Pazza replied to danaymacklin's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've read research that for rny patients the best way to get in the b 12 is through nasal spray or injection. But like Martha Parker McNeal mentioned in a previous post, it is all about your blood work. I use nascobal because I get the b12 nasal spray and all my Vitamins together. They have pills to swallow if you are far enough out from surgery. But the dissolving ones if not. For me, it is covered by insurance and shipped straight to me. It isn't for everyone but works great for me. It is a prescription and the doctor fills it out and faxes it to the company. The company calls you and tells you how much it will be and you get to decide if you want to fill it. https://www.nascobal.com/patient/why-nutrition-direct Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using the BariatricPal App -
Emergen-c and Nyquil
Pazza replied to BrookeTiffani's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you do honey and lemon, be very careful. The sugar from the honey can cause problems. Stevia or Splenda and lemon might be better. -
Emergen-c and Nyquil
Pazza replied to BrookeTiffani's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wouldn't do the emergen-c because it is kind of carbonated. If you are taking Vitamins, I think you can take Vitamin c gummies or dissolving ones. Just don't do massive amounts. I found an alcohol and sugar free cough syrup that I took about that far out. It was a child's one but it helped. I take Nyquil now at about 8.5 months out. It knocks me out really quickly! Sugar free cough drops are good too. I also do Thera-Flu and that helps me. Maybe Zicam nasal spray? Hope you are feeling better soon! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using the BariatricPal App -

Best Scales for Measuring Body Fat/Muscle?
Pazza replied to tearsofapache's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I have a fit bit Aria scale and I really like it. But I have a fit bit too. It is nice that everything syncs and is tracked. I think it is pretty accurate but I treat them all as giving a general idea of how things are. Not 100 percent. Measuring bone density would be cool. I liked this article but would also recommend checking consumer reports. http://www.livestrong.com/article/184126-most-accurate-body-weight-scales/ Best of luck! -
Vitamins and Calcium
Pazza replied to fallenfeatherstudio's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon was the one who did the prescription but your primary cam do it too. There is a form you can download and the doc fills out. Fax it in and they do a check with insurance and call you to tell you how much it will be. My first one was 37 dollars and then I met my deductible and it is free now. https://www.nascobal.com/patient/why-nutrition-direct Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using the BariatricPal App
