Why i cant tolerate food anymore?

I am 9 weeks out and I have tried steamed veggies and shrimp from Chinese restaurants, but I make it very clear, NO OIL, and I do not eat the white rice. I simply eat the steamed veggies and seafood. This has worked ok. I get excited, so I have to be careful that I do not eat more than the 3 ounce portion at a time that I am allowed. For some reason, I am still afraid to try real eggs.
  2. Cocojh, this is a positive time in your life. Your doctor obviously supports you in the effort, so refrain from listening to people at work. Now a bit of work advice, the people at work are co-workers, they are not or should not be your social circle and usually they are not your friends. This is only a suggestion: do not share your personal business at work. They do not need to know who you were out with last night, what is going on in your home, or your every thought. Management will sometimes collect information and later on use it against you. I have worked in some awful environments where management would use anything to create a file against you. Now this may sound paranoid, however I have sued sued sued and have won won won, because of many infractions. Keep your personal business to yourself! Stay professional, polite, and distant, and do the best job you can do. On the surgery: you will do just fine~ stay on course though and do not try to cheat. I tried to cheat in the second week and ended up with my head in the toilet vomiting ! Blessings in your new life! You will soon be thin!
  3. I absolutely love that creative funny response! YES!
  4. It is just hard to believe that employers have such ignorant people working for them. I can remember being a supervisor in a highly known service company that delivers packages. The management team approached me about one of the African Americans wearing her hair in braids in her hair. This was about 20 years ago. I told them, "Are you kidding me? you do not want to touch that with a ten foot pole; there are all kind of issues that would need to be addressed, including her heritage." Some people in management are just simply clueless and should not be in the upper level of supervision/management. They need to educate themselves on human resource issues, ethnic issues, etc. It is just so hard to believe that companies put uneducated people in high positions, and I am not talking about book smarts/university smarts, I am talking about good ole common sense! If you do not want to share your medical information, do not feel that you have to. Just politely say, my medical information is personal. That is my suggestion!

    Vitamins after Surgery

Thanks for all of the various types of Vitamin brands that are available for after the Sleeve. I appreciate hearing and will try something different that the Bariatric Advantage brand.
  8. Your surgery is your business and can remain private information according to the HIPAA law. Look up HIPAA and see if there has been any violation from your employer asking! Shame on any company that has a boss/representative/supervisor that has the audacity to ask what type of surgery you are having!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Hard Boiled Eggs

Can anyone tell me how long it took for you to be able to eat boiled eggs after surgery? I usually boil my eggs and then place them in cold Water to peel them. Sometimes this works perfectly, however if you boil them too long, the peelings still stick.

When does the discomfort stop after surgery?

I had the sleeve done on April 11, 2015 and had little to no pain. I took the pain medicines to sleep so I would not think about food. I am 8 weeks post-op now and have some discomfort eating some foods, however am doing quite well. I am losing weight nicely, about 45 lbs down.

    Lotion for loose skin

I am using Bio-Oil on my skin which can be purchased at Walmart. Kind of expensive but it is helping with the incision marks; I am using a recumbent bike and stationary gym for the tightening of the skin.

Why i cant tolerate food anymore?

I am about 8 weeks post op and I have some discomfort digesting some foods, however for the most part I avoid certain foods. I basically stick to fish, chicken, shrimp, turkey, and vegetables. Some vegetables digest better than others, such as green Beans go down good even with seasonings, however broccoli seems to take more effort to digest. I also eat beans cooked with smoked turkey. I have not tried any red meats yet, and will probably not do that for a while. I do not use any oils to cook my food right now, and when I eat at restaurants, I tell them no oil....none. Has anyone tried real eggs yet? I am so afraid to try, so I use egg beaters instead. I have not eaten salad yet and cannot wait to have some. I hope this is helpful. Also I stick to 3 ounces, not more than 4 at each meal.

    Vitamins after Surgery

My doctor prescribed Bariatric Advantage Essential Multi Vitamin, Bariatric Advantage Dry Vitamin D, Bariatric Advantage calcium citrate Chewable with Vitamin D, and Bariatric Advantage Chewable Iron 29. I am hoping that I can find a more tolerable brand of Vitamins. If you have any suggestions, please let me know. I would rather not have the vitamins that taste like chalk.

    Digestion issues?

I also had some issues with constipation after surgery on April 11th, however what I do now is make sure I am getting all of my Water in, eat more vegetables, and when needed I take a stool softener. I also have a little discomfort with digestion, and so what I do about that is make sure I am only eating the 3 ounces per meal, and also I eat slower. Sometimes I get so hungry that I eat too fast and that is when I feel the discomfort. I am starting to learn what digests good, and what doesn't. I have eaten out twice this week, once at Ruby Tuesday and the other at OCharley's. At Ruby Tuesday, I had grilled chicken, grilled asparagus, and mashed potatoes. I ate a small portion and took the rest home. At OCharley's, I ate grilled salmon, grilled asparagus, and a backed potato. I was satisfied, and my system accepted both meals at these restaurants. Both restaurants have special menus for gluten free, allergies, etc. I am so excited about the fact that I can still order healthy and tolerate the food at these two places, because I love these restaurants. I hope this is helpful to someone. Oh, one more thing, also what has been helpful to me is ordering the right appliances to cook my food. I have an air fryer that I can cook chicken in, a steamer that I use for vegetables and salmon, and a Wolfgang Puck pressure oven for other various meals.

Starting my journey - Boston Ma

My surgery was on April 11, 2016 and I was in the hospital for two nights. The greatest challenge this far has been the liquid menu, and sticking to what the Dr. suggests. I am now on the puree diet and have had cream of wheat, mashed potatoes, green beans, egg whites/beaters, and chicken. I tried some salmon, however it did not stay down at all. I was tired of being obese, however this is a challenge to me at the age of 60, soon to be 61. My starting weight was 305, 298 at the hospital, 281 at the PCP's, and 282.5 at the surgeons office on 4-20-2016. I hope to be able to get my weight down to at least 175. I will be happy if I can still eat Chipotle's, salad, veggies, fish, and chicken. I am not into sweets or alot of carbs. I will appreciate your support.
