?? for experienced bandsters
tmbowe replied to katwmn63's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I asked my Dr. this question when both my kids had the flu and I was afraid I was going to get it. He told me to automatically go to liquids dont eat anything solid. Call them for an anti Nausea prescription and if that does not work to go in and have all the fluid taken out of your band they will put it back in after you have recovered. Hope this helps -
ATTN scale watchers in Bandster Hell!!
tmbowe replied to katwmn63's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would quit watching the scale. The gym I go to measures me monthly and one month I only lost 2 lbs but I lost 4 inches from my hips. Sometimes I think it just takes your body time to catch up -
Sorry guys this is a ? for the girls...
tmbowe replied to Annie71's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had the same problem I was always regular with my periods then after I had the surgery and started to lose weight they became irregualer. I talked to my Dr about it and he told me it was normal. That it had to do with your hormones and the weight loss and not to worry about it. -
How are the banded Notorious Novembers???
tmbowe replied to mljalways's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi all, I havent been on in a long time and now I guess I am needing some encouragement I was banded 11/18/2008 and have lost 52 lbs. I am at a point right now where I am thinking about have some liquid taken out of my band as it is a lot harder to keep stuff down. I am frustrated by my weight loss as I feel like I should have lost more. I go to curves at least 3 times a week and really watch what I eat. I occasionaly have something I shouldnt but its not an everyday thing like it was before the surgery. I think my biggest problem is learning how to cope with Stress. If anyone has any great stress relievers I would love to hear them -
Dr. Jeff Holloway - New member
tmbowe replied to Themo123's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Dr. Holloway performed my Surgery in November of 2008. I would recommend him to anyone. He has the best bedside manner I have ever seen. You will always leave his office with a smile. You can go in feeling depressed and leave feeling happy -
:biggrin:Aetna Called me today and I was finally approved, I didn't think this day was ever going to come. I did the 3 month diet and submitted everything at the end of June. My weight history from 2006 was missing so I had to appeal and it took 2 months to go through appeal process. But it was all worth it today when they called me. After work I am going to go pay my $1000 down so they can schedule my surgery..If anyone else has Aetna there really is hope out there:biggrin: don't give up and be persistent it will happen as long as you meet the guideline.

Without the weight from 2007.. You may run across some issues.. Did you ever go to a quick care or someplace where they may have possible weighed you.. If not you need to make sure you submit a letter stating that you were not seen by a dr in 2007 but you are submitting 2006 and 2008. Just make your letter as detailed as possible.. They accepted my pregnancy weight for 2006 so I am sure they will accept whatever you can come up with.

It has been a hard 2 days have not been able to eat at all only liquids my last meal was Sunday Night.. I was able to drink clear liquids until 9 this morning so that helped a little..Please keep me in your prayers and I will let you all know my progress as soon as I am able to get to a computer -

tmbowe replied to Florida Pete's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I was suprised too. When the Dr's office called me this morning they were originally going to change my date to the 22nd of December but the company I work for is getting ready to change insurance so the Dr found a time to fit me in earlier. I guess that is the benefit of being from a small town in Nebraska. -
Hi everyone.. My Surgery is November 18th In Nebraska.. I was original scheduled for December 5th but the Drs office called me today and moved it up.. I am excited that it is sooner but I am really nervous now. before I had month to prepare now I only have 5 days.

Florida Pete.. Thanks for the new poll. I love your Banner you are going to have to tell me how you did it.. -
Congratulations to all of you December 5th people I have been counting down the days cant wait.. I keep hearing a lot of people talk about a liquid diet 2 weeks before surgery. I am so lucky I don't have to do that. My Dr. requires liquid 24 hrs before surgery and that is it. I wonder why requirments are different?

Hi all.... Anybody getting banded 12/22?
tmbowe replied to Cali W's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am getting banded on 12-05-08 in Scottsbluff Ne which is about 3 1/2 hrs from Denver.. -
as long as we can prove you have been overweight for 2 years that is all you need. I was pregnant in 2006 and sent them my weights from everytime I seend the obgyn that year and they accepted those. So as long as you have something from the Dr office showing your weight they will accept it.
-
My Vote is for the Holiday Hotties. I think that one fits both genders well.
-
Congratulations. I am also being banded on December 5th.. Dont have any recipes yet but will keep my eyes open for something good.
-
Congratulations.. What day in December. I am being banded December 5th

I got a call from The Dr's Office Yesterday and My Surgery has been set for December 5th. I started my Journey In January so I am glad to finally have a date. I think the hardest part right now is the waiting.. I guess we can all be on the countdown together.
-
OH My goodness I am so excited the Surgeons office called my Today and my Surgery is scheduled for December 5th.. I started this whole Process in January so I was beginning to think this day was never going to come. I am excited and nervous at the same time. For anyone out there who is having problems getting approved don't give up because it is worth the wait
-
candy3223.. why do you need to have a cardiac clearanceto get approval they way my Dr does it is you have to get approval for the bariatric surgery first. Then they will set up a pre operative appointment and they will handle all of those tests then.. because they are preop testing they are automatically covered so I am not sure why you would do the test before you even get approved for surgery
-
Yeah you have to have the 2 current years of weight.. I submitted 2003, 2004, 2005, 2007 and 2008.. They all proved I was overweight but I was denies because 2006 was missing.. So make sure you have 2006 2007 and 2008 cause if not they will probably deny you.. Also make sure that your dietician gets a copy of the 3 month diet guidlines and that you go over all of that with her and she notates it all down.. I seen on here that some people pay extra to see and excercise specialist but I did not do that and was approved I just told the dietician I was walking on my break at work and going to the gym a few days a week she would ask me evertyime I seen her and then she would notate it in my file.. You may want to try something similiar.
-
doots43.. Aetna will approve you, you just need to make sure you have everything they are asking for.. I did the 3 month diet. For this I seen the dietician every 2 weeks and she went over behavior modification, diet, and excercise then i seen my physician at the beginning of the diet and again at the end. What held me up was I was pregnant in 2006 and didn't think about not seeing my regular Dr. that year so when I had my Dr send everything in it did not dawn on us that 2006 was not there.. that is why i was denied.. So just make sure you have everything the require and you will get approved.. Good Luck to you

clickersister. I am going through the same thing my appeal was sent to my insurance company on August 18th.. When I called to see if it was received they told me yes. Then I called 2 weeks later to check the status and was told it was sent to the wrong place and everythign had to be re-done.. Then I was told that on Sept 3 it was sent for outside review. When I called again on the 15th they gave me the # for the outside review place and they told me they just received it. So I called my insurance company again on the 22nd and they called the 3rd party and I was told it would take 1 to 2 more weeks. I definetly feel your frustration. I had a friend that submited after me and has already been approved and had her surgery that makes it 2 times as hard.. But just hang in there. It will be worth it in the end
