My insurance requires 6 months of classes/diet for it to pay for the surgery. Not everyone has to do them for that long.

I'm being kicked off my insurance because it's my mothers (I'm currently unemployed) and I'm turning 23 August 7th since I am turning 23 the age where insurance no longer covers (which we didnt know until yesterday) On December 31st I will be taken off. Before we were told as long as my mother could have me on her taxes and I lived with her there would be no problem but there is. So today I called the insurance and talked to the lady I always talked to, she said if we had the doctor's office fax all my past history that I had and weight loss to them that they could possibly shorten my 6 month diet to where it wasn't so close and down to the wire in December. Well they faxed the information and She called back said within a week I should know if it can be shortened. I sure hope it can I don't want to get this far and have to end this whole journey. Wish me luck. I sure hope something works out.

If you don't have willpower with this surgery then it is kind of pointless don't you think? You can't just eat and eat and stretch out your pouch or risk it slipping etc. Like everyone has said before this isn't a cure all. Part of the job is the band, the rest is your emotions, and will to not eat when you're hungry, specially not bad foods.

Well my normal periods are usually 2 weeks long, but this one is getting so ridiculus, It's so annoying lol. Still going!

do you have to stop smoking?
Froggi replied to cmayes's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon won't do surgery unless you have quit smoking. I'm not a smoker so this wasn't a problem for me but for a lot of people at the seminar it was. Smoking is ew anyway. -
Only 20 minutes? Wow. Seems like not enough time.

Awww. I'm sorry you were embarrassed. These things happen though, I'm sure they would understand but I can understand how you want to keep it a secret. I've been shouting it out through the hills though. I am super excited to change my life.

Hello from Millington Tn
Froggi replied to Suthernsurg's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I was told I had to do a year worth of weight management too, So I called the insurance and it turns out it was a mistake...found out I only had to do 6 months. I would call and make sure first. Good luck on your journey though and welcome to LBT -
I would go for what you planned on going for Lap Band. Besides it's safer and less to go through. It's up to you but, in the long run I think you should stick with what you picked. Good luck.

Half of the battle is will power, I don't even have my band yet and I am controlling what and how much I eat for this 6 month diet. You have to want to not eat the wrong foods or eat too much along with the tool. I'd get some emotional support somewhere.

Light Headed During Liquid Diet
Froggi replied to HlthySoon's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think this is why my doctor requires a protein shake for breakfast, lunch and a high protein small sensible dinner for 2 weeks before surgery. I dunno if I could do all liquid. -
I've been doing that once in a while during my 6 month diet and it actually helps me lose more weight than I was losingbefore. Like I'll have something that seems like a treat to me (like beef Jerky omg i love that) I prob wont be able to have it after surgery but a little splurge like that does kick your metabalism Also mstrina it's almost your day! Good luck.:wink2:

When I do finish my 6 month diet my doc's office said they would fax all my stuff to the insurance and the insurance would fax my approval letter back within a few hours or a day. Why does everyone elses take so long? I can't wait until october.
-
How long does it usually take?
Froggi replied to Ellen86's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went to my seminar April 5th and I found out from my insurance I have to do a 6 month diet, so I won't be able to have surgery in the summer like I wanted. My surgery won't be until Oct, or Nov. -
I didn't have a period for 3 months and before it was all out of wack and was like a 1 or 2 day period. I started my period on april 22nd, and I have been bleeding heavily and constantly since then even today. I dunno if its normal or if its cause my uterous got all that built up from no period. I havent had surgery yet but I weigh 416 pounds. What do you guys think?
