Back to School After Surgery
Paula Maglica replied to xgrl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
pmcclen2 I'm from Chicago also, but a suburb of it. Are u located in the city or a suburb? If so, who did your surgery? -
Hello to all of my fellow bandsters! I just got banded on the 29th of July, despite feeling very sore around the port site, I was feeling ok (I love my vicadon!!) Yesterday I started running a low grade fever all day long, it started in the middle of the night and I thought it had broke about 7:00pm and I started feeling much better, went for a short walk took a shower and went to bed, this morning I'm running a low grade fever again. None of my wounds look infected, on the infomational sheet that the Dr gave me said to call the office if you get a fever over 101. My question after all this rambling is... is this normal?
-
:thumbup:I'm sending you a huge hug, but not to close to your port site LOL! I thankfully spent the night and I'm so glad I did. Even though I had a rough nite trying to sleep, didn't seem like I could find a comfortable sleeping postion. Sitting up didn't seem to do the trick, I finally made a wedge under my tummy and got maybe an hour or so sleep. I hope your feeling better, just remember you've made a huge step in your NEW future. It WILL get better! Hugs to you!:cool2:

:smile:I'm glad your feeling good. I had my surgery done on the 29th !! That day will always have a special place in my mind! Is your port site more sore then the rest of your body or is the gas pains bad? I think I've finally gotten most of the gas out of my body. Thank God! -

OMG I have that too & was a little scared of them saying something -
Ok, I'm throwing this random question out there, hopefully not too gross for some of you, but I'm a bit worried... I've been taking the Alli for about 3 weeks and just when I eat "normal" (a bit on the greasier) food. I've asked my Dr. nurse if it was ok to take 2 of them when I do take them, but no more then 3 per day if that. My question is, my stools are not greasy but the last 2/3 days when I do go, my stools (sorry) are a GREEN in nature. I expected them to be on the loose side but not green. I've stopped taking them to give my body a couple of days rest, but I really don't want to stop taking them because they've really helped me. Like I said, I'm sorry if this is TMI, but it is worrying me. Just wanted to know if anyone else had this same problem.:puke:

Ok, so I did end up doing a google on "Green Stool" and I've come to the conclusion after reading there that the reason for this is because the poop is moving thru my "track" to fast to collect any bile and it's the bile that make our wonderful stool brownish in color. So I'm resting much easier now, and back to taking them like I was. Hope everything is good for everyone, I finally went out last night and got a scale, I think when I went to the cardic Dr. last month they weighed me wrong because it would have meant that I had lost 10 lbs in a week, and I know I hadn't been doing all that much to lose that much so fast. But at least now I can keep track of the weight on a more persistent:tt2: basis instead of only weighing once a month.

I have Atena too, they've made me do the 6 mo diet and have the 5 yr medical history, (to show being overweight) to see the cardic dr. , the pych dr. & the lung guy. All of which I've done so far. The only thing I'm having problems with right now is tracking down my medical records, my old Dr moved about 2/3 yrs ago, and then I moved so everywhere I call thinking that's where they are, they tell me to call somewhere else, I think I've found out the right person who to call which I have done, now I'm sitting back for just a couple of days to give them a call to check the results. This months weigh in is my 5 month, next month will be my 6th and as long as I keep losing the weight, they will then submit all my paperwork and then I'm looking to be banded in June! I can't wait!!!

Hey, I'm not an Army Wife anymore, but I was there back in 94-97 and LOVED IT! I'm now in IL due to my "now" ex wanted us to move back to the home state. I miss Ft. Hood and would love to move back there! Keep in touch, as I'm on the same journey as you, I'm doing the insurance required diet, and going to all the pre-op visits and hopefully will have the surgery sometime in June -
Hello Lori! Glad to hear from you. How did the surgery go, how long did it take? How are you feeling so far? I know, lots of questions! I really liked Dr. Lahmann, he seems like such a personal guy, not like some of the other drs out there that sometimes treat you like another # and so not judgmental! Let me know how things are going. I talked to the nurse there yesterday and after everything goes thru, it looks like I'll be having the surgery in June not May like I thought, but I just look at it as another bump in the road to the NEW me!!

:lol:thought I'd jump on the bandwagon here and say hi myself. I'm from IL around Joliet area, anyone here from those parts? I'm having it done at Silver Cross

Rascal76 and all others, thanks for the replies. I talked to the nurse today at the Dr office and after I got to decribe (fun...not) my stools to her, she told me to back off of taking 2 of them. Now I'm thinking that maybe I'll get them to give me a RX for the Zenical, I was just trying to avoid that because of the cost factor.

has anyone else experienced anyting like this????
Paula Maglica replied to VIRGO_GIRL824's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
:puke: I give you a two thumbs up for even trying such a huge task! I don't smoke but I was a avid diet pepsi drinker, and when I weaned myself off of the 3/4 cans to 1 can per day, I too had a horrible headache and I was popping Excedrin like candy. Keep up the good work and know that's it's just going to get better from here!! -
Hey all, I'm hopefully getting banded around the month of May. I went to the seminar in Dec and started the 6 month Dr supervised diet back then, (didn't really try until Feb) and lost 2 lbs, then a week after my birthday in Feb landed in the hospital for a day and half due to my asthma, but thought they thought it might be heart related, but after doing a bunch of tests, all's good there. After getting out of the hospital, I really started losing the weight, the first weigh in Feb a week after leaving the hospital I lost 2 lbs, then a month later which was last Monday I learned I had lost 4 lbs, and then yesterday when I went the cardic dr for a follow up, they weighed me, I couldn't believe it, I had lost a whooping 10 lbs in a week! I am surprised but excited!!

Hello fellow bandsters, I'm brand new to all this, stumbled on this website and have been hooked on it ever since. I live near Joliet IL and hopefully (pending insurance approval) sometime in May. I've been doing the 6 mo Dr. supervised diet, and going to all of my required dr visits getting their approval. My surgury is going to be at Silver Cross Hospital in Joliet by Dr Lahmann. The center is called BMI. He does gastric bypass and the LapBand. Would love to get to know anyone else out there from this area. (and elsewere)

Anyone Being/have Been Banded In Joliet Il?
Paula Maglica posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Just wondering anyone out there in "cyberspace" from Joliet IL that is or will be a patient of Dr. Lahmann out of Silver Cross Hospital? I've been going for my monthly weigh in's since Dec of 07, and in the process of gathering all of my paperwork and going to all of my required Dr's visit's getting cleared, but as of last Monday when my last weigh in was, they still not have said anything about a surgery date. By my records, I would think it would be in the month of May, maybe I'm wrong (6 mo of dr supervised diet) Any thought out there on this, or am I just worried for nothing....:tongue_smilie: -
Ok, just had a random thought and didn't see anything pertaining to this question so I thought I'd throw it out there.:crying: Anyone out there that has been banded, and then got the stomach flu, I know it seems stupid, but does it feel the same? What has been your experience?? I know it's a gross one, but still wondering after seeing the video of the surgery it got me to thinking.....
